OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024

OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024 MEMORIZE: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” – Galatians 6:1

OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024 Read John 8:1-11

1. Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4. They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6. This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11. She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024 MESSAGE

It is quite terrible that some people judge individuals who have made mistakes just so they can feel better about themselves.

Their goal is to boost their self-esteem rather than admonish the people who made the mistake or bring them to Christ.

The people who attempted to stone the adulterous woman in John 8:1-11 were just like this. They did not expect that Jesus would put the searchlight of righteousness on them; He humiliated them as they planned to humiliate her.

When we correct someone just to show how righteous we are, we are attacking their self-esteem, adding to the weight of guilt they already bear, and making it more difficult for them to come to Christ.

God turns against people who condemn others to prove that they are righteous. When Jesus sees a fallen soldier in His army, He wants to help the fellow up.

If He discovers that other soldiers are throwing stones at the fellow to kill him or her completely, He turns against those soldiers to defend the one who is wounded.

It is unfortunate that many Christians use their superiority complex to hand their own brothers and sisters over to the devil.

For example, who is a young Christian girl supposed to turn to if she becomes pregnant out of wedlock? Fellow believers or unbelievers?

In most cases, her church members might call her a prostitute and make her feel unwanted, while unbelievers may show her care and understanding.

When soldiers are wounded, they need people to help them dress their wounds so they can stand up again.

If the people they get help from are from the enemy’s camp, they may never return to their own camp again.

This is why many backsliders keep going deeper into sin. They think that they will no longer find forgiveness and acceptance in the church, so they backslide completely.

The Holy Spirit is still drawing them toward the church, but they are reluctant to go back out of the fear of being condemned by the people who should show love to them the most.

Beloved, if a fellow believer falls, don’t condemn the person. Don’t turn such a person into an object of gossip, rather, get other Christians together to pray and follow up on the fellow until he or she comes back to God.

This was the testimony about Job in Job 4:3-4. Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024 ACTION POINT:

Show love to any believer you know that may require encouragement by calling or sending a message to say you will always be there for him or her.

OPEN HEAVEN 16 JULY 2024 HYMN:

1. The great Physician now is near,
The sympathising Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.

REFRAIN:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2. Your many sins are all forgiven,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heaven,
And wear a crown with Jesus.

3. All glory to the risen Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.

4. His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh! how my soul delights to hear
The charming name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 JULY 2024 MEMORISE: Do all things without murmurings and disputing: Philippians 2:14

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 JULY 2024 READ: Philippians 2:14-16

14. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 JULY 2024 MESSAGE:

One particular year December, i queried God that He had not done anything special for me since the beginning of the year.

I explained to Him that if He had given me evident miracles that year, I would have probably had reasons to be grateful.

Thankfully, God was not angry with me or at my complaints. He simply told me to take a pen and jotter to write down all He would remind me of.

After ten minutes of writing all His benefits that I had forgotten, I fell flat on my face, asking for His forgiveness over my ingratitude.

Ingratitude is a sin that begins from complaining and murmuring about the things you don’t have while ignoring the blessings that you have.

In Exodus 16:1-4, the children of Israel did this in the wilderness, and God was not happy with them.
If you are quick to complain about everything, then you should ask God for forgiveness.

If you find it difficult to thank God for the daily blessings you enjoy or say ‘thank you’ to someone who did something good to you, you should ask God for mercy because you are exhibiting a sign of the end time.

Note that where you are right now, and the things that you have are other people’s prayer

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 JULY 2024 PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to show gratitude to You and other people at all times.

4. All things living He doth feed;
His full hand supplies their need;
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

5. He His chosen race did bless
In the wasteful wilderness;
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

6. He hath with a pious eye
Looked upon our misery;
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

7. Let us with gladsome mind
Praise the Lord, for He is kind;

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 JULY 2024 MESSAGE

The law of righteousness is one law that many people know but hardly comply with. It is simple; obey God, and you will excel (Deuteronomy 28:1).

Jesus put it this way in Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

If you seek God’s righteousness and seek to do things that are right in His sight, without a doubt, the material things that other people are seeking will begin to pursue you and overtake you. This is a law that cannot be broken.

When my father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, was alive, he used to say that it is what your father has that he will use to take care of you.

Romans 6:16 says that whomever a person yields himself or herself to obey is that fellow’s master.

This means that if someone obeys the devil and commits sin, the devil will take care of the fellow with what he has.

Also, if the fellow obeys the Lord and lives righteously, God will take care of him or her with what He has.

The devil has nothing else to offer than to kill, steal, and destroy John 10:10); if anyone obeys him, that is what he or she will get.

If you obey Christ and live in righteousness, the same John 10:10 says that what He has to offer you is abundant life.

Beloved, there is absolutely no gain in sin. The things that look like the gains of sin are actually baits of the devil.

When a hunter is trying to catch an animal in the forest, he puts the animal’s best food inside a trap. When the animal tries to grab the food, it gets trapped.

Beware of whose food you are eating. If you have to compromise on God’s word to get that food, it is only a trap for the devil to destroy your soul.

Whatever hunters use to feed their catch is nothing compared to what they will take from the catch.

The devil will never give you anything without collecting more from you. Obey the law of righteousness, and you will enjoy the blessings of God.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 JULY 2024 KEY POINT

Righteousness exalts you while unrighteousness debases you. Choose wisely.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 JULY 2024 HYMN 10:

IN CHRIST ALONE

1. In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My comforter, my all in all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

2. In Christ alone who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save

Till on that cross as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay

3. Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

4. No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the power of Christ in me

life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 15 JULY 2024 MONDAY: SIGNS OF THE END: LUST

MEMORISE: For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:20

READ: 1 John 2:15-17
15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

MESSAGE:
Lust is an insatiable thirst for something that doesn’t belong to a fellow. Today, our focus will be on the lust of the flesh that involves being attracted to the opposite sex in an immoral way. If you engage in late-night phone calls that trigger sensual thoughts, then you must watch out. If you visit internet sites that make you think about having sex, then you must be careful. All these are subtle attempts of the devil to get into your heart and make you sin against God.
One of the major tools that the devil uses to truncate the destinies of God’s children is lust, which leads to sexual sin. Your body is God’s temple; therefore, you should be careful about the content you let into it and the actions you engage in.
Do not be like those who sin with the intention to ask God for forgiveness thereafter. It will only lead to destruction as it happened with Samson (Judges 16:30-31)

KEY POINT
Flee from lust.

MEMORISE: For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Samuel 15:23

READ: 1 Samuel 15:22-23
[22]And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
[23]For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

MESSAGE:
As stated in the bible several, events have been happening around the world, signifying that the second coming of the Lord will be sooner rather than later. For the next few days, I will be considering the signs of the end time as stated in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Today’s Bible reading passage is quite popular. However, many Christians do not pay attention to the details. If God compared the sin of disobedience to rebellion and witchcraft, I believe that we must pay serious attention to it so as not to be caught in its web.
Many teenagers find it difficult to obey instructions from God or their parents, no matter how simple they are. Their hearts have been caged by the devil, who makes them believe that since God has given humans the free will to choose, they shouldn’t be restricted through instructions. Beloved, the instructions given by your parents or by God (through the Bible) are for your own good. If you obey or disobey them, you will reap the reward.

PRAYER POINT: Father, please help me to always obey Your instructions, in Jesus’ name.

3. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

MEMORY VERSE: “But ve shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon vou and ve shall he witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 10:34-44
[34]Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
[35]But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
[36]The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
[37]That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
[38]How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
[39]And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
[40]Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
[41]Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
[42]And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
[43]To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
[44]While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: The infilling of the Holy Spirit is a gift offered to the children of God and is the power from on high (Luke 24:49) which Jesus promised to His disciples. It is called the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is received by faith and prayer and may be accomplished by laying on of hands. The infilling, i.e. the baptism of the Holy Spirit, releases the power on the believer to do the work of the ministry of our Lord Jesus. (Acts 1:8; 10:38).

WHO DOES THE INFILLINGAND SIGNS?

The infilling of Holy Spirit is done by the Holy Spirit Himself. In Luke 24:49, Jesus told His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until He sends the Holy Spirit that will fill them and empower them for the work He was committing into their hands. When the Holy Spirit fills you, it is evident by your ability to speak in an unknown tongue – Acts 2:4. The infilling of the Holy Spirit empowers you to do the following:
i. Boldness to witness Christ-Acts 2:1-8: 1:8. ii.Fruitful in the work of the ministry -Acts 11:24.
iii. Ability to overcome sin – Galatians 5:16.
iv. Deeper understanding of God’s word. Isaiah 50:4l

4. Laying on of hands-1 Timothy 4:14. Acts 19:6
5. Continuous praying in tongues

We long for Sunday School.

3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.

4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee

5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.

6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

OPENING PRAYER: Father, do not let me become a fruitless and unprofitable servant, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE PASSAGE: John 15:1-6.
[1] “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
[2] Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
[3] You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
[4] Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
[5] “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
[6] If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

MEMORY VERSE: “And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Matthew 3:10 (NKJV).

INTRODUCTION: Fruit-bearing is expected of anyone chosen and saved by Jesus Christ (John 15:16). God reacts to fruitlessness the same way He reacts to rebellion because failure to bear fruit is rebellion against the commandment and purpose of God (John 15:4). For any branch of the vine to be barren or unfruitful it must have been separated from the vine making it impossible for the fluid of life that flows from the vine to reach it.

LESSON AIM: To study import of a fruitless lifestyle.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
a. Understand some causes of fruitlessness.
b. Understand the dangers of fruitlessness.

2. INHERENT DANGERS

1. CAUSES OF FRUITLESSNESS
1. Ignorance of the sound word of God (1 Corinthians 3:1-2; Hebrews 5:12-14).
2. Lack of genuine repentance from sin and other vices (Ezekiel 18:30-32).
3. Pre-occupation with the affairs of this world. (Matthew 13:22).

2. INHERENT DANGERS
1. The presence of God could depart from the unfruitful (1 Samuel 16:14).
2. It could bring about a reversal of blessing with curses (1 Samuel 2:30-34).
3. God will spew out the unfruitful, for being neither hot nor cold (Revelation 3:15-16).
4. Self-exposure to enemy’s attacks (Judges 16:18-21).
5. Total annihilation of a fruitless being (Luke 13:6-9).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students should discuss how believers can be fruitful

CONCLUSION: Fruitfulness has great gains but fruitlessness is dangerous. Be fruitful!

EVALUATION: Mention two causes of fruitlessness

CLOSING PRAYER:Father, help me to be fruitful.

ASSIGNMENT: Make it a duty to bear fruits by following up on the people you have witnessed to and give them a copy of the Bible or a spirit-filled book (No marks).
