OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS AND CHILDREN MONDAY 28TH MAY 2018: NOT YOUR POWER
MEMORISE: For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:13
Please read: Isaiah 41:8-14
MESSAGE:
It is a dangerous thing to trust in great men, wealthy men or even leaders because they can disappoint you any time their strength, wisdom, resources or morals fail them.
It is even more dangerous to trust in self. You may be brilliant, but academic success comes from God.
You may have lots of things to make you happy, but joy comes from God.
You may have diverse security devices, but safety is a
product that only Heaven can deliver to you.
Wherever you are today, it is not by your power, wisdom or making; it is absolutely God’s doing.
Realizing your progress is not entirely your making, it should bring you great joy, because the God working behind the scenes to get you where you should be will ensure that you reach your destination.
Appreciate God for all that He is doing through you.
It is not you, but Him.
KEY POINT:
The one who is truly secure and successful is the one that totally depends on God.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Chronicles 23-25
John 11:1-17
Hymn 1
1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!
2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire !
3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!
Blessed week ahead

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS AND CHILDREN SATURDAY 26TH MAY 2018: GUARD YOUR THOUGHTS
MEMORISE: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23
Please read: Mark 7:20-22
MESSAGE:
We are what we think. Thoughts are powerful. Our thoughts inform and influence our actions. This is why we must guard our thoughts.
Some people just leave their minds to wander about. This is wrong. If you are not cautious of what you think about, the devil will take advantage to fill your mind with lots of evil. When a person keeps thinking evil thoughts, he will eventually start practicing evil deeds.
To guard our thoughts, we must be careful of what we allow into our minds. The music we listen to, the TV programs we watch, the social media handles we follow, the conversations we hold and the
company we keep. These things are elements that fill our minds and translate to either positive or negative thoughts.
How much Christian content do you consume? How many Christian social media handles do you follow? How often do you attend Christian fellowships? The
things you put into your mind will translate into your thoughts, and these thoughts will translate into actions that will eventually lead you to your future. Watch what you feed your mind with.
ACTION POINT
From today, be careful about the books you read, the movies you watch and the music you listen to because they will shape your personality.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Chronicles 17-19
John 10:1-21
Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
