OPENING PRAYER: Father, please don’t let me ever defile myself as Your temple.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leader should ask members the Almighty God’s stand on swearing and cursing.

MEMORY VERSE: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not
your own?”” 1 Corinthians 6:19

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
[16]Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
[17]If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: A temple is a building, a place for worship or dwelling place for God or gods. It is the place where God dwells in, where the spirit of God dwells, the house of God and not necessarily a house built up with bricks or cement.
When you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, God’s spirit comes into you and you become God’s spiritual house, His temple. You are added as a living stone to the temple of God, His dwelling place set up to offer acceptable sacrifices unto Him daily. 1 Peter 2:5, Ephesians 2:20. As God’s temple, your sacrifices must be done in holiness because God cannot behold sin. Romans
12:1, Habakkuk 1:13

LESSON AIM: To inform members that every true believer is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

TEXT REVIEW:1 Corinthians 3: 16-17
* Believers should know that they are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
* Defilement of God’s temple will bring destruction of such people.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE
THE TYPE OF TEMPLE GOD DESIRES
I. Temple of Purity And Power: As God’s temple, you are to consecrate yourself so that God can continually dwell in you. Romans 12:1-2. Psalm 4:3. Only consecrated things are deemed pure and to be used for sacred purposes-2 Tim. 2:19-21. Then God will release His power on you – Luke 10:19 for God is delighted to manifest His great power in and through you. Colossians 2:9-10. God wants to touch and heal through you – Acts.5:15-16, Mark 16:18.

II. Temple of Prayer: God’s temple is the place of prayer where we commune with God. As
God’s children, we should dedicate time to prayer daily. This reveals the measure of our understanding and faith in God. When we pray, we are acknowledging the supremacy of God in our lives by surrendering all at His feet so that He can step in and take over. Luke 18:1, 1 Thess. 5:17. To commune effectively, we cannot afford to toy with sin. Isaiah 59:1-2

III. Temple of Praise: As God’s temple, we are to offer the sacrifice of praise to God
continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.Hebrews 13:15.
The gates to His presence can only be open by praise – Psalm 100:4-5 and everything we desire in life is available in His Presence. Psalm.16:11
We must therefore ensure we offer God praise every day of our lives to enjoy His blessings daily. Psalm 150

ACTIVITIES: i. Diligently carry out all daily tasks outlined in the Golden Diet for this week.
ii. Check the activity to be done’ for the end of this quarter and plan ahead.

SUMMARY: As God’s temple, you possess divine power to effect positive changes.

CONCLUSION: God’s grace is available and is sufficient for us, 2 Corinthians 12:9. Every Christian should therefore ask and depend on
God’s grace daily to be God’s temple indeed. Matthew 7:7

PRAYER POINT
1. Father, thank You for choosing to dwell in me in Your fullness.

2. Father, please take away from my life everything that will not allow You to dwell in me.

3. Father, please sanctify me with Your word daily and by Your spirit.

4. Father, please make me a carrier of Your power.

5. Father, please let all members, workers, ministers of RCCG be carriers of Your glory.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 20 MAY 2023 BIBLE READING GENESIS 6:1-8

[1]And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

[2]That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

[3]And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

[4]There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

[5]And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

[6]And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

[7]And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

[8]But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 20 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

Noah’s story in today’s Bible reading is a typical example of the grace of God at work in someone’s life. If you don’t understand how important God’s grace is in an individual’s life, consider that when the entire world was condemned to destruction by divine verdict, Noah had a special kind of grace that spared him and his family.

In the world we live in today it is only wise to earnestly seek this kind of grace from God. However, if you have received this kind of God’s grace, please do not take it for granted. Don’t be like Samson, who thought he would rise and go out as at other times when he was chained by the Philistines (Judges 16:20).

He didn’t know that he had lost his strength. The memory verse advises that you should not receive the grace of God in vain. As a child of God, it is a great waste if after receiving God’s grace, you end up missing Heaven.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 20 MAY 2023 KEY POINT

If you have received the grace of God, work with it.

BIBLE PASSAGE: Leviticus 19:9-10

[9]‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.

[10]And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.

MEMORY VERSE:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NKJV).

INTRODUCTION: God’s relationship with man is characterised by His holiness, justice, love, and mercy among others. Our relationships with one another and society have to be patterned according to the character of God (Matt.22:36-39). Therefore, it is our responsibility as God’s people to care for those around us (1Jn. 3:10). The attempt of the church to show love and alleviate the suffering of the people, especially in her immediate environment/community is termed Christian Social Responsibility.

LESSON AIM: To study Christians’ Social Responsibility (CSR).

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:
Through this lesson, students should be able to:
i. Understand the meaning and biblical perspectives of Christian Social Responsibility.
ii. Discover the benefits of Christian Social Responsibility.

TEXT REVIEW:
From the above-stated passage the Lord told the Israelite to do the following things in order to cater for the poor
i. Not to harvest all their crops during harvest. V9.
ii. If any grain falls to the ground during harvest it should not be picked up, V9.
iii. …………………………………V10a
iv. ………………………..…….…V10b

TEACHING METHOD: Lecture and discussion Methods.

OUTLINES:
1. MEANING AND BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE
2. BENEFITS OF CHRISTIAN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

1. MEANING AND BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE
A. MEANING OF CHRISTIAN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)
i. Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) is a faith-based obligation to meet societal needs through the demonstration of love that positively impacts communities and individuals.
ii. CSR has its roots in Christianity and the Church is meant to be an example for the world to follow (Matt.5:16).
iii. It is an initiative for community relations and to partner with the government in achieving the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
iv. CSR could be in the areas of provision of basic social amenities, Healthcare delivery/facilities, Education, Media, Business support, Art/Entertainment, Governance, Sports, etc.
v. It involves strategically assessing societal challenges and developing appropriate structured programmes to cater for them.

B. BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE
CSR is a core part of the ministry of the Church. It is not a 21st-century concept; it has its origin in the Bible. For instance:
i. Leviticus 19:9-10 and 23:22 instruct us to always make provisions for the needy out o f our income.
ii. In Matthew 14:15-21, Jesus demonstrated the need for CSR when He fed five thousand men (besides women and children).
iii. The early Christians distributed their wealth to take care of those in need (Acts 2:44-45).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: What are the differences between Corporate Social Responsibility and Christian Social Responsibility?

2. BENEFITS OF CHRISTIAN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
i. It enables people to actually see and know the meaning of the love of God. 1John 3:16-18.
ii. It meets the needs of the less privileged in the society. Psalm 28:7.
iii. It promotes evangelism and entrenches the church of God in the hearts and minds of the people we come across. Matt. 5:16.
iv. It embraces responsibility for suitable actions and encourages a positive impact on the environment. Mark 12:33.
v. It complements government’s efforts in providing and sustaining the standard of living for people in their immediate community. Jas. 2:14-16.
vi. It enables the church to build a good relationship with the community. Gal. 6:10.
vii. It helps the believers to represent Jesus physically in their communities. Prov. 13:17; 2 Cor. 5:20.

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What are the disadvantages of not engaging in Christian Social Responsibility on regular basis?

CONCLUSION: Christian Social Responsibility is not to seek commendation from men but to show the love of Christ and be a blessing to our community.

EVALUATION: Explain the term Christian Social Responsibility (CSR)

CLOSING PRAYER: Like the early Church, please Lord, help today’s Church to freely surrender their resources to cater for the needs of the poor in the society.

ASSIGNMENT: Clearly state five areas your Church can engage in Christian Social Responsibility to meet the needs of the people in your immediate community (No mark).

OPEN HEAVEN 20 MAY 2023 MEMORIZE: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18

OPEN HEAVEN 20 MAY 2023 BIBLE READING PROVERBS 5:15-23

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

OPEN HEAVEN 20 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

The phrase ‘sexual immorality’ covers all improper sexual conducts and practices like fornication, adultery, masturbation, prostitution, pornography, incest, homosexuality, rape, child sexual abuse, bestiality and so on.

There is a special relationship between these sins and the human eye as revealed in (2 Peter 2:14). The eye or face is sometimes used interchangeably in the Bible and both are very important for effective communication. This is why the Bible speaks of having eyes full of adultery.

Adultery and fornication are sexual practices that are considered immoral and abominable according to the word of God. Having eyes full of sexual immorality means communicating sexual attraction or immoral interest with the eyes or face. In extreme cases, it could also mean that a person’s mind is always filled with sensual or erotic desire especially towards persons other than their spouses.

The fact however, remains that the allure of a promiscuous person is centred in the eyes or face, as revealed by Proverbs 6:25 that says, ”…neither let her take thee with her eyelids”, and Isaiah 3:16 that talks about walking around with stretched necks and promiscuous eyes. For this reason, painting the face and eyelids was regarded as a means of amplifying beauty and sexual attraction; thus promiscuous people have used it as a means of seduction since Bible days (like Jezebel in (2 Kings 9:30)).

Meanwhile, our Lord Jesus Christ equates looking at a member of the opposite sex lustfully with adultery (Matthew 5:28). This means that those who deliberately makeup and dress to amplify their sexual attraction are in actual fact causing others to commit adultery ona daily basis.

Since Christians must be careful not to cause others to stumble, according to Romans 14:13 and (1 Corinthians 8:9), we all must ensure that we are modest in our dressing (1 Timothy 2:9-10) and conduct so we do not become a stumbling block in the path of others. This is the established will of God.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

OPEN HEAVEN 21 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

These days, genuine Christians and even ministers of the Gospel are being caught in various types of sin, including sexual immorality which Joseph refused to indulge in, despite the fact that the opportunity presented itself on what seemed to be a platter of gold.

Genesis 39:8-9 records Joseph’s response to the offer: But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

It was wisdom, brought about by the fear of God, that kept Joseph away from committing sexual immorality with his master’s wife. No wonder the Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). How I wish all children of God would embrace the fear of God so that they can begin to live above temptation and sin.

It is wisdom to run away from sin because the Bible says in Romans 6:23,The wages of sin is death…” and this refers to eternal death. Beloved, sexual immorality is forbidden; seek godly wisdom to avoid this deadly sin.

In the last hour before the arrest of Jesus Christ, He had a foreknowledge of what was about to happen to Him and thus had a private meeting with His disciples at Gethsemane, where He gave them the antidote to temptation and sin. Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak...”. In this passage, Jesus named watchfulness and prayer as the antidote to temptation and sin.

We are therefore called to be alert to dangers in the Christian journey such as sexual immorality, false teachings, worldliness, love of money, inordinate ambition, sinful pleasure, and other forms of temptation and sin. The Bible says the end is near so we should be sober and watch unto prayer (1 Peter 4:7).

Sexual Immorality is forbidden; watch and pray over the type of content you and your family consume. Be mindful of your physical and social interactions, and constantly fill your heart with the word of God so you do not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11).

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

Many Christians believe it is not humanly possible to be perfect, but Jesus said that we should be perfect, just our Father in Heaven is. This means perfection is attainable.

All we have to do is walk in His footsteps and follow the examples He has set for us. Since Jesus in His human form lived in perfection, it is equally possible for you as a believer to be perfect.

To live in perfection is to deny one’s self of all fleshly desires and be holy. Turn away from your old lifestyle and stick to God.

I want you to know that perfection is not a day’s job: it is a gradual process.

Therefore, feed yourself with the word of God daily: it will help you live a holy life daily.

When you wake every morning, ask for His help to be holy for the rest of the day: that’s how holiness becomes a lifestyle, not just a habit. Consciously avoiding sin is a step to perfection.

HYMN 21 – I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

1. I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak,

2. I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there.

3. I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.

4. I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.”

5. I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call.

6. But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee

I decree and declare that from the beginning to the end of this month and even in the years to come, my eyes shall see no evil, my ears shall hear no evil, my hands shall touch no evil. Even if I see and hear, I shall not experience it in the name of Jesus.

I decree and declare that my daily bread is provided for. The air I breathe is purified and the water I drink is sanctified in Jesus’ name.

Let’s Pray!

Lord I worship and praise Your name for all the beautiful things You have done and are still doing in my life. Lord accept my thanks in Jesus’ name.

Father forgive me of all my iniquities as I have forgiven those who have wronged me. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help me to show love to everyone around me through my words and actions. Grant me a heart that loves people and sacrifices for them in Jesus’ name.

Lord, grant that I may take no pleasure in criticizing others, but that I may see good in them, as You do. When I begin to concentrate on the faults and failures of others, give me courage to praise their accomplishments. Help me be loyal to those You give me to love in Jesus’ name.

Lord, Make me an instrument of Your love. May I see each circumstance in my life as an opportunity to grow in Your love. May I see my environment as a place to grow in Your love. May I then take this love to other people in Jesus’ name.

Father deliver me from any form of negative addiction, and put in me Your Spirit in Jesus’ name.

Lord I pray against any form of idolatry in my life. Lord save me from anything trying to take Your place in my life in Jesus’ name.

Lord help me to walk with You, and help me to please You in all that I do in the name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023 MEMORIZE: Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; Hebrews 6:1

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023 BIBLE READING MATTHEW 5:48

[48]Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023 KEY POINT

It is not impossible to be perfect

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 19 MAY 2023 HYMN

HYMN 21 – I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

1. I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak,

2. I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there.

3. I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.

4. I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.”

5. I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call.

6. But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee
