OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 5 JULY 2024 MESSAGE

Virtue is moral excellence. A virtue is a trait or quality that is deemed to be morally good.

In other words, it is a behaviour that is accepted as being morally right. The opposite of virtue is vice.

Beloved, as a child of God, you are expected to be morally upright. Your thoughts and actions should be pure and harmless.

Ephesians 4:2 says: With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Do you know that it is easy to have a good virtue?

Once you have the Holy Spirit within you, yield to Him daily to bear His fruit: love, joy, peace, temperance, long-suffering, et cetera, and you will have good morals.

You should be an example to other children in character. If you have virtues, you will be a positive influence on your friends.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 5 JULY 2024 ACTION POINT:

List the virtues that you think you exhibit.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 5 JULY 2024 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17 Acts 23:11-35

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.

BIBLE PASSAGE: Romans 10:13-15.
[13] For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
[14] How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

MEMORY VERSE: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2.

INTRODUCTION: One business that every believer has been called to do is Evangelism (or witnessing (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). It is the act of preaching the gospel to share the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. In simple terms, evangelism on the go is to be busy, active, and innovative with the preaching of the gospel of Jesus. Different channels must be employed to reach the lost with the gospel of salvation. The preaching of the gospel is a serious business assigned to us by the Master. It must be consciously, consistently, and conscientiously done by all believers.

OUTLINES:
1. THE FATHER’S BUSINESS
2. OUR BUSINESS TOO

1. THE FATHER’S BUSINESS
The preaching of the gospel to the lost is so important that Jesus said He was specifically anointed by His Father for it (Luke 4:18). He also reiterated this point in Luke 4:43 when he said preaching the kingdom of God is a must for Him because that was why He was sent. God is so particular about the lost that Jesus said it is not His will that they perish (Matthew 18:14). Jesus also said He came to the world to save the lost (Matthew 18:11). Jesus, in the parable of the lost sheep, depicts the importance of a soul when the shepherd left 99 sheep to go after one lost sheep – soul (Matthew 18:12).
Speaking of how he must preach the gospel, Apostle Paul placed a curse on himself, if he failed to preach the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:16). He also boldly declared that he was sent to preach the gospel (1 Corinthians 1:17a). The value of a soul is so much that there is rejoicing in Heaven when one soul repents (Luke 15:7).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Every soul is precious to God. Explain.

2. OUR BUSINESS TOO
Preaching the gospel to the lost is a serious occupation Jesus handed to His followers when He gave the command to go in Mark 16:15. This kingdom business must be done with zeal and divine wisdom (John 4:34; Ecclesiastes 10:10). It is an all-time trade (Luke 9:60). There is no room for giving up in this occupation of witnessing Jesus (Acts 5:42).
As a good businessman, you must be strategic, creative and seize every opportunity to talk to people about Jesus (Acts 26:27-29; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23). This business must be done sacrificially. It may not be convenient at times, but you must still go ahead and witness Jesus (2 Timothy 4:2). As a business is driven by focus, the goal of evangelism is to make Jesus known, and win souls for Him (1 Corinthians 2:2; Romans 1:14-15). Business owners attract people to themselves; so must you live in such a way that everything you do preaches Jesus to others; live evangelism (Galatians 2:20; 1 Corinthians 11:1). This business must flourish in your hand as you continue to witness Christ to lost souls (Acts 8:5-6; Daniel 12:3).
A successful business goes beyond a generation. In the same vein, the witness of Christ must go to the next generation (2 Timothy 1:5; 2:2). The God factor is key for a successful business, therefore, intensive prayer is needed for evangelism. The trademark of this business is Jesus; who is the sole message (Colossians 1:27-28). Time is of the essence in business, do not delay to preach Jesus to the lost (John 4:35).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Why should the following elements/tools be considered very necessary in preaching the gospel?
a. Prayer.
b. Jesus Christ.
c. Time (urgency).

CONCLUSION: Evangelism is a serious kingdom business. Be actively involved.

QUESTIONS
* Mention four ways evangelism is the Father’s business.
* In three ways, relate conventional business with the business of evangelising.

ASSIGNMENT: Identify five factors that can make evangelism effective (2×5=10 marks).

BIBLE PASSAGE: Romans 10:13-15 (NKJV)
[13] For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
[14] How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

MEMORY VERSE: “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 (NKJV).

The God factor is key for a successful business; therefore, intensive prayer is needed for evangelism.

CONCLUSION: Evangelism is a serious kingdom business. Be actively involved.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 4 JULY 2024

BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE & PASTOR (MRS) FOLU ADEBOYE

MEMORISE: From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 4:17

READ: 1 Kings 16:8-14

[8]In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.

[9]And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.

[10]And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

[11]And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

[12]Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,

[13]For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

[14]Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

MESSAGE

Elah succeeded his father, Baasha, as king for only two years before he was assassinated by the captain of his chariots.

Prior to his enthronement, God had already sent word through a prophet that He would destroy his father’s lineage for the sin of leading the people into idolatry.

God’s judgment was: “Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house: and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air”. 1 Kings 16:3-4

Is the Holy Spirit convicting you of a sin that you committed in the past? Have you been warned ahead of a sin that you’re planning to commit?

My dear child, nothing is worth your salvation: therefore, do the right thing from today.

Remember, we will all stand before God to receive reward or condemnation for everything we do while on earth.

REFLECTION:

On judgment day, will you be condemned, or will you receive a reward?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
2 Kings 23:31-25:30 Acts 22:17-23:10

HYMN 58 – MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

CHORUS
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3. His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
