MESSAGE:

Every day, we are faced with decisions that test our honesty even as teenagers. In fact, just because you are a child of God, the devil will test you very often, hoping that you will make wrong decision and disappoint God. It is a big mistake to think that the devil only comes with big temptations, because more often than not, the devil tempts with little things and it is the little things we fall for that lead to the big falls. Luke 16:10 says:

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”

Do you tell your parents ‘small lies’? Do you take ‘tiny amounts’ of money from your parents without their consent? Do you modify the truth to your friends in school just to ‘feel among’? What of during tests and exams? Rather than study well, do you cheat? God is very interested in every single decision you make.

In Deuteronomy 30:19, God said it is always our responsibility to choose between life (right) and death (wrong). Every time you choose to do the right thing, you make God proud and he blesses you with life.

KEY POINT:
According to Song of Solomon 2:15, it is little foxes (little sins) that often spoil the whole vine (a holy life).

OPEN HEAVEN 14 MARCH 2019 MEMORISE: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psalm 1:1

OPEN HEAVEN 14 MARCH 2019 READ: PSALM 1:1-6 (KJV)

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

One of the ways of attacking divine blessings is to stay away from the counsel of the wicked.

According to Psalm 1:4 & 6, doing this also saves one from partaking in the judgment that God delivers on the wicked. Who is a wicked person?

For example, a wicked fellow is someone who takes advantage of the trust given to him to hurt another person. Joseph was put in a position of trust, but he did not take advantage of it because he did not want to be wicked.

When his master’s wife wanted to lure him into sexual immorality, he said in Genesis 39:9:

Even before the Law of Moses was given in Exodus 20:14, Joseph refrained himself from committing his grave sin because he had the law of God written in his heart, which says:

“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

Joseph regarded sleeping with his master’s wife as wickedness, so he did not do it. For this reason, I strongly believe that Joseph will stand in Judgment against those who break the written law of God on marriage fidelity with impunity, claiming that the word of God is ambiguous on it.

Another category of the wicked includes those who despise the good works of others and render them insignificant. When you are posted to a new office and you refuse to see the good work your predecessor did, or worse still, you try as much as possible to erase the history of his or her stewardship, you are wicked. In spite of what King Saul did to him, David did not act this way. When King Saul died, David said in 2nd Samuel 1:24:

“Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.”

Walking in the counsel of the wicked can have grave and everlasting consequences. An example of the impact of ungodly counsel is found in the story of Amnon and his lust of his half-sister, Tamar.

Amnon was caught in Jonadab’s wicked counsel, and he died for it (2nd Samuel 13:1-29). Beloved, irrespective of who the source is, run for your dear life when given ungodly counsel. May you never fall prey to the counsel of the ungodly in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 13 MARCH 2019 – WATCH THAT TONGUE

OPEN HEAVEN 13 MARCH 2019 MEMORISE: And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. James 3:6

OPEN HEAVEN 13 MARCH 2019 READ: 2 Samuel 6:20-23

20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.

22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

As precious and indispensable as the tongue is, it can be dangerous when used improperly. According to today’s memory verse, the misuse of the tongue is actually injurious to the entire human body. We see this truth play out in today’s Bible text.

Michal daughter of Saul, the first king of Israel, misused her tongue, and her body physically suffered the grave consequence that followed.

Her husband, King David, had just had a very nice time praising and worshiping the Lord with singing and dancing, also offering sumptuous sacrifices of oxen and fatlings.

Micah, who ordinarily should have joined her husband, looked through a window and saw him leaping and dancing before the Lord. This was a shameful sight to her, and she despised him for it in her heart.

When David returned home later that day, out of the abundance of heart, she ridiculed him with her words in 2 Samuel 6:20, saying:

“…How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!”

David’s response to these words shows that he knew what he was doing as a genuine and addicted worshipper of God.

Even though he did not in any way curse or insult Michal, her utterance brought a curse on her, which she took to the grave. 2 Samuel 6:23 says:

“Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.”

Working in the same spirit as Michal, some people came to me some years ago to dissuade me from praising my God with Ewi (special poetic renditions in my native Yoruba language), which I had vowed to be doing during our annual conventions. Click Here To Read – Daily Declaration 12 March 2018

The reasoning behind their suggestion was very funny to me. They said I was too big to be chanting Ewi and that I should leave such things to the youths! I laughed and felt sorry for them because I knew they did not know the importance of praise.

What a great mistake this is! I admonish you to stop abusing your tongue because the Bible describes it as a fire that can burn destructively if unguarded (James 3:6). From today, use your tongue only for the beneficial purpose of praising God and lifting up those within your sphere of influence (James 3:8-10).

OPEN HEAVEN 13 MARCH 2019 PRAYER POINT: Father, please help me to refrain from abusing the tongue You gave me, and grant me grace to use my tongue to praise, bless and glorify Your Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 12 MARCH 2019 – MOUNTAIN MOVERS

OPEN HEAVEN 12 MARCH 2019 MEMORISE: What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back? Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs? Psalm 114:5-6

OPEN HEAVEN 12 MARCH 2019 READ: Matthew 17:14-20

14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

From our Lord’s message in today’s Bible text, we learn that mountain symbolizes the challenges of life. The good news is that Jesus also assures us in this teaching that we can be mountain movers, even if our faith is as small as a mustard seed.

In the story captured in today’s reading, the demons of insanity constituted not only a nuisance to the life of a young man and his father, they were also a source of embarrassment to the disciples of Jesus Christ, as they refused to leave the boy after the disciples had commanded them to.

Why were the disciples not able to cast these demons out? Jesus explained that it was because of their unbelief? This is food for thought for those of us who call ourselves men and women of faith. One can safely assume that before the disciples embarked on trying to deliver the young man of these demons; they must have believed that God was able to use them to carry out this deed.

In the same way, one would assume that before people leave their homes for a church programme, they must possess a level of faith to receive from God. However, experience has shown that such assumptions are not always valid. Many people are very religious but don’t have faith at all.

To be a mover of mountains, you must possess the right kind of faith. Beloved, what kind of faith do you have? Is it living or dead faith? it is not the size of faith that matters; what matters is whether the faith is alive or not. Click Here To Read – Open Heavens 11 March 2019

Before confronting a mountain, you need to check if you have the right kind of faith that can move mountains. An example of someone with mountain-moving faith is the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:22-28. She came to Jesus so that her daughter could be delivered of the evil spirit that troubled her.

In spite of all the discouraging obstacles thrown her way, she convinced herself that the only solution to her challenges lay with Jesus Christ, and so she would not let Him go. The result of her tenacity is clearly seen in Matthew 15:28, which says:

“Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”
