OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 25 DECEMBER 2023 MESSAGE

For some days now, the whole world has been buzzing with activities in preparation for today.
Many years ago, this season was chosen to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
However, many miss the point of the celebration – Salvation. Whenever I send gifts or wishes to my children around this time of the year, I say or write ‘Christmas’, not Xmas’.
This is because Christ is the only reason for the season.
This explains why you won’t catch me sleeping, lazying or gallivanting around on Christmas day.
We have made it a custom to be out on the streets and in churches preaching the gospel of Christ during Christmas in The Redeemed Christian Church of God.
So, before you eat and make merry today, share the gospel of Jesus Christ with your friends on your social media handles and in your community.
Win souls for the Lord during this season: let the world understand the significance of His birth.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 25 DECEMBER 2023 HYMN

HYMN 4 – ON A HILL FAR AWAY
1. On a hill far away
Stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross
Where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross;
And exchange it someday for a crown.
2. Oh, that old rugged cross
So despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God
Left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary.
3. In the old rugged cross,
Stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;
For ’twas on that old cross
Je-sus suffered and died,
To par -don and sanc-ti-fy me.
4. To the old rugged cross
I will ever be true,
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day
To my home far away,
Where His glory for-ever share

TOPIC: FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

Memory Verse: Esther 4:16

“…and so will 1 go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and ifl perish, I perish. “

Bible Text: Esther 4:10-14

10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

12 And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.

13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

LESSON INTRODUCTION

In this time in which we are (presently), a lot of demonic activities are in operation and children of God are dropping their guards. Every believer should know that they are in a particular position to effect divine plans and establish reigns for Christ.

Daniel in the land of Babylon knew why he was there. He was not there to eat the king’s food but to enthrone righteousness and silence all evil operations in that land.

Daniel 1:8 talked of his firm refusal to lose focus in such a time as this. May the Almighty God help us to know the importance of the present time in which we are.

UNDERSTANDING THE TIME

Let’s look at the time we are in:

a. Perilous time – 2 Timothy 3:1.

b. Time, full of hatred, self-centredness – Gen, 27:41; 37:18-20,

с. Time of ingratitude – Judges 15:18-19.

d. Time of pains, affliction and abandonment. Num. 14:43; Deut. 32:15.

e. Time of worshipping of Mammon. Matt. 6:24; Luke 16:11.

f. Time of laziness, less work but anticipating more gains, c.g. Yahoo boys.

WHAT ARE THE TOOLS REQUIRED TO UNDERSTAND AND WIN IN THIS TIME?

I. The Word of God – Psalms 119:105.

ii. The hearing ear and seeing eye – Proverbs 20:12

iii. Living in holiness – 1 Peter 1:15-16.

iv. Following peace with people – Hebrews 12:14.

v. Grieving not the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 4:30.

MAKING THE BEST USE OF THE TIME

To make best use of time means investing in your time positively, engaging in activities that provide a high fulfilment to someone and others around you.

  • Develop your mental capacity and inner virtue.
  • Keep a time diary to access your daily time usage.
  • Cut off activities that make your time unyielding and unfulfilling.
  • Think positively on what matters and on things that are profitable.
  • Know that there is time for everything and time used positively brings gain.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO UTILISED THEIR TIME WELL

1. Esther rescued the Jews from Haman’s plot – Esther 7:10.

2. Moses delivered Israelites from bondage of 430 years- Exo. 3.

3. Elisha destroyed the curse that caged a nation for ycars – Judges 6:26. 1 Kings 2:22

4. David deployed his ability to win and stop humiliation of 40 days – 1 Sam, 17:16

5. Jesus came to save the whole world – Matt. 18:11: Luke 19:10.

CONCLUSION: RCCG HOUSE FELLOWSHIP MANUAL 24 DECEMBER 2023

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

[17]Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

[18](For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

[19]Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 24 DECEMBER 2023 MESSAGE

Our text for today is about some people who are obsessed with their cravings and have turned them into objects of worship.

Clearly, this is a form of idolatry that a genuine child of God must run away from.

Anything that you are so obsessed with, or that you want desperately and wouldn’t mind sinning against God to get, is a god.

Some young people are battling obesity and diabetes today because they are obsessed with food.

They can’t control their eating because they have so much to eat, while those who don’t have anything to eat resort to begging for food.

If you cannot do without food, it’s time to go on a fast and ask that the Lord help you tame your appetite so that it won’t put you in trouble.

Any teenager who cannot fast and pray has made his/her belly a god.

Another obsession you should avoid is sleeping. If you cannot wake to pray at night, then sleep is your god.

The best way to deal with any obsession is to declare a fast and stay off them.

Then, make plans to start doing the opposite of all the habits you consider not to be good for you.

TODAY’S LESSON

BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 5:1-10

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

OUTLINES:

1. TRAITS OF A LIAR

2. ANTIDOTES TO LIE

1. TRAITS OF A LIAR

The teacher should explain the traits of a liar as follows:

1. According to 1 John 2:22, a liar is a person who denies that Jesus Christ is Lord.

2. The devil is a liar and the father of all liars (John 8:44).

3. A liar claims to know God but does not obey His commandments (1 John 2:4).

4. The Scripture so relegates a liar so much that it says a poor man is better than a liar irrespective of the liar’s achievements in life (Proverbs 19:22b).

5. Anyone given to lies is an individual with the old man fully at work in him/ her (Colossians 3:9).

6. No matter how smart a liar may be, the lie or falsehood will only be for a time before the truth is established (Proverbs 12:19).

7. A liar is a proud person who must lie to sustain the fake lofty height and the wrong impression created (Psalms 119:69; 59:12; 12:3).

8. A liar is disloyal, unfaithful, and a betrayer who deceives at will (Proverbs 14:5, 25).

9. A liar destroys by executing a well-planned misrepresentation that may endanger lives (Psalm 109:2; Jeremiah 14:14).

10. Anyone who lies or is always given to falsehood is regarded as a wicked person (Proverbs 17:4; Psalms 58:3).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:

Have you ever told a lie, what prompted it?

2. ANTIDOTES TO LIE

A. Believers must be conscious of their new status in Christ and be watchful (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, it is expedient to:

i. Be intentional about telling the truth all the time (Romans 9:1).

ii. Learn to bridle our tongues (Psalm 39:1).

iii. Ensure our words are few and devoid of exaggerations (Ecclesiastes 5:2; Proverbs 10:19).

iv. Learn to be slow to speak (James 1:19).

v. Let our Yes be Yes and No be No (James 5:12).

B. Speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) takes a lot of discipline but it brings peace and honour to God – who cannot tolerate liars (Psalms 15:1-2; 24:3-5).

C. Above all, we must remember eternity! No liar will get to heaven (Revelation 22:14-15).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2:

What other things can be done to stop telling lies?

CONCLUSION: RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS MANUAL 24 DECEMBER 2023

A liar has no worth on earth and no place in heaven.

QUESTION

* Mention three traits of a liar.

* Mention two things believers can do to avoid lying.

EVALUATION:

What are the negative things lying can bring to us?

A liar claims to know God but does not obey His commandments (1 John 2:4).

The Scripture so relegates a liar so much that it says a poor man is better than a liar irrespective of the liar’s achievements in life (Proverbs 19:22b).

Anyone given to lies is an individual with the old man fully at work in him/ her (Colossians 3:9).

No matter how smart a liar may be, the lie or falsehood will only be for a time before the truth is established (Proverbs 12:19).

A liar is a proud person who must lie to sustain the fake lofty height and the wrong impression created (Psalms 119:69; 59:12; 12:3).

A liar is disloyal, unfaithful, and a betrayer who deceives at will (Proverbs 14:5, 25).

And destroys by executing a well-planned misrepresentation that may endanger lives (Psalm 109:2; Jeremiah 14:14).

Anyone who lies or is always given to falsehood is regarded as a wicked person (Proverbs 17:4; Psalms 58:3).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:

Have you ever told a lie, what prompted it?

2. ANTIDOTES TO LIE

Believers must be conscious of their new status in Christ and be watchful 5:17). Therefore, it is expedient to be intentional about telling the truth all the time (Romans 9:1).

As believers we must learn to bridle our tongues (Psalms 39:1), ensure our words are few and devoid of exaggerations (Ecclesiastes 5:2; Proverbs 10:19).

We must learn to be slow to speak (James 1:19). Let our Yes be Yes and No be No (James 5:12).

Speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) takes a lot of discipline but it brings peace and honour to God – who cannot tolerate liars (Psalms 15:1-2; 24:3-5).

Above all, we must remember eternity! No liar will get to heaven (Revelation 22:14-15).

OPEN HEAVEN 23 DECEMBER 2023 BIBLE READING Daniel 2:1-19

And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

13 And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

15 He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

16 Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

18 That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Kindly share these life-changing messages, prayers, and declarations with the precious people around you.

Open Heaven 22 December 2023

OPEN HEAVEN 23 DECEMBER 2023 MESSAGE

Our Bible reading for today tells the story of a king who had a dream he couldn’t remember on waking up. He summoned his wise men to tell him his dream and the interpretation, but they couldn’t.

Daniel was later given the same task and he said “Give me some time; I have a God who can reveal the deepest knowledge that no one else has ever accessed.”

He got home, called his friends and they began to pray, then that night, God revealed the king’s dream and the interpretation, to him.

This made Daniel say in Daniel 2:21:
“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding”.

I have good news for any student reading this now: that particular subject that you find difficult is the one in which you will get a record-setting score.

Every believer operating in any sphere of life needs God to reveal concealed things to him or her.

In 2 Kings 6:9-20, Elisha was the saving grace of the king of Israel. If it wasn’t for Elisha, the king would have run into the ambush set for him by the king of Syria.

If you are a politician or just someone in governance, you need to pray to God to always reveal concealed things to you.

Business men also need God to reveal concealed things to them.

In fact, God promised in Isaiah 45:3:
And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

There are hidden riches in secret places that you need God to reveal to you. He could reveal such to you by way of an idea, but the moment you pursue it, you would discover great riches in it.

A man with financial challenges prayed to God for help and the Lord told him to start making honey-coated peanuts. The man obeyed the Lord and now rides around in his own private jets.

OPEN HEAVEN 23 DECEMBER 2023 HYMN

RCCG HYMN 22: Sweet Hour Of Prayer

1. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
