Open Heaven 3 March 2018: [Saturday] A heart of gratitude

Memorise: Then went king David in, and sat thereforethe LORD, and he said, who am I, O Lord GOD? And what is my hose, that thou hast brought me hitherto? 2ndSamuel 7:18

Open Heaven 3 March 2018 Bible Reading: 2nd Samuel 6:14-21(KJV)

6:14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

6:15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

6:16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.

6:17 And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

6:18 And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.

6:19 And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.

6:20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

6:21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.

Rccg Open Heaven 3 March 2018 Message

As a lecturer at the University of Lagos, when I became born again, I realised how close to hell I had been, in spite of all my academic knowledge. Because I saw the goodness of God in my life, I began to think of what I could do to publicly show God my appreciation for what He had done for me.

So I sought the permission of my father-in-the-Lord to sing, dance and recite “Ewi” (Yoruba poetry) to honour God at least once a year during our church convention. He gave me the go-ahead, and I began to do it annually. Read: Open Heaven 2 March 2018

When I became the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), someone said to me, “Since you are now our father, there are certain things elders must not be found doing, and such things are best left for the little ones.”

He went on further to say that I must now sit like an elder in the church and let the children do the singing and dancing. My response was, “Thank you very much, but for as long as my two legs can carry me and my voice can still be heard, I will sing and dance for the one who made me the General Overseer.

I will praise and worship Him for as long as I have the breath of life in me.” I pray that God will give you a heart of gratitude today in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 3 MARCH 2018

A while ago, I was abroad at a world conference where several big men of God from all over the world were present. They also invited a small man like me and I went with my tambourine. Read: Open Heaven 1 March 2018

One of the big preachers came to me and asked, “What are you doing with a tambourine like an ordinary member of the choir? You are supposed to be the General Overseer, or is that not what they call you? God have mercy!” May you never stop showing gratitude to God for any reason in Jesus’ Name.

When I became the General Overseer of the RCCG, the total number of staff of our Bible College was three. There was a principal, myself and one other person.

Today, by the grace of God, in Nigeria alone, the number of full-time and part-time staff of our Bible College is well over a thousand. How can you then ask me not to praise God? If you desire greatness in your life, jump on your feet and let God hear you shout a big Hallelujah!

As a matter of fact, if you only praise and worship God whenever you are in a Christian congregation or whenever you are in a Christian congregation or whenever you are told to do so, then the praise is not overflowing from a heart of gratitude; you are just following orders.

Remember that God does not desire people who only give because they are told to do so. He desires those whose hearts spontaneously rise in joy with gratitude to Him whenever they remember His numerous benefits in their lives.

If you appreciate the goodness of God in your life, shout a big Hallelujah in His praise. You will forever have reasons to praise God in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 3 March 2018 Prayer Point

Father, help me to see and appreciate Your goodness in my life in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 3 March 2018 Hymn 1

NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD

Now thank we all our God

with heart and hands and voices,

Who wondrous things has done,

In whom his world rejoices;

who from our mothers’ arms

has blessed us on our way

with countless gifts of love,

and still is our today.

O may this bounteous God

through all our life be near us,

with ever joyful hearts

and blessed peace to cheer us,

to keep us in his grace,

and guide us when perplexed,

and free us from all ills

of this world in the next.

All praise and thanks to God

the Father now be given,

the Son and Spirit blest,

who reign in highest heaven

the one eternal God,

whom heaven and earth adore;

for thus it was, is now,

and shall be evermore.

Open Heaven 2 March 2018 [Friday] – God First

Memorise: But seek ye firstthe kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Open Heaven 2 March 2018 Read: Genesis 22:1-18 (KJV)

22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

22:3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

22:4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

22:5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

22:6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

22:10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

22:11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

22:15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Bible in one year: Numbers 5-6, 1st Corinthians 15:12-34, Hymnal: Sing hymn 12

Open Heaven 2 March 2018 Message

God is most pleased with His children when they put Him first in all endeavours of life. For this reason, He gave the commandment in Deuteronomy 6:5 which says,

“And thou shall love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”

God often tests His children to see whether they will honour Him by putting Him first in whatever situation they find themselves.

Today’s Bible reading contains a vivid demonstration of this. After God gave Abraham a son in his old age, knowing well that he loved the child so much, God decided to find out whether Abraham loved the boy (the gift) more than he loved Him (the Giver).

He therefore instructed Abraham to go on a journey and sacrifice his son, Isaac, to Him. When God saw Abraham’s determination to obey Him, just before he killed his son, God intervened and provided an alternative.

You will pass God’s test in Jesus’ Name. After Abraham passed God’s test, God swore that He would bless Abraham the way no human being had ever been blessed before. God’s blessing on Abraham was the first of its kind, being one that is irreversible forever.

When we speak about the giving of first fruit, some people think it is a pastor’s way of making money, but they are making a great mistake.

When you put God first, He makes sure you are blessed in a special way and that your blessing becomes irreversible. If you however try to show God that He is not number one in your life. You will not like what may follow.

There was a young man who came to me and said, “Daddy, God has answered your prayers”, and my response was “Amen!” I asked him what happened and he said one big chief in Lagos asked him to help him sell a property of his consisting of 13 flats, 12 of which were regular flats. Open Heaven 1 March 2018

The chief told the young man how much he wanted for the house,and that the young man could have any amount above this as his personal gain.

After narrating this, he looked at me again and said, “Daddy, God has answered your prayers; from this deal alone, I will be settled for life!” I congratulatedhim and asked him to give one of the flats to the church as his tithe, but he lamented that this was only his first breakthrough, and that God could wait for other future blessings.

Open Heaven 2 March 2018

About a week later, after he got a buyer who was willing to pay far above the owner’s asking price, he went back to the owner, but to his shock, the man denied ever asking him to look for a buyer for the house!

He lost his blessing because He did not consider it necessary to put God first. May the Almighty God give you a blessing that will last forever in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please give me a heart that puts you first in all areas of life in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 2 March 2018 Hymn 12

TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE

Take my life, and let it be

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;

Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them

move

At the impulse of Thy love;

Take my feet and let them be

Swift and beautiful for Thee,

Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing

Always, only, for my King;

Take my lips, and let them be

Filled with messages from Thee,

Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my sliver and my gold;

Not a mite would I withhold;

Take my intellect, and use

Every power as Thou shalt choose

Every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine;

It shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart; it is Thine own;

It shall be Thy royal throne,

It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour

At Thy feet its treasure-store.

Take myself, and I will be

Ever, only, all for Thee,

Ever, only, all for thee

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS WEDNESDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2018: USE YOUR TALENT WELL

Open Heaven 28 February 2018

MEMORISE: A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men

Please read: Matthew 25:14-30

MESSAGE:
Your talent is the gift that God gave you when you were coming to the world. He expects you to
use it well. If your talent is to write, then study more on how to write better and keep writing
and publishing your write-ups any chance you get.

If your talent is to play football, then you should practice regularly. Whatever your talent is, don’t let It lie fallow because one day, God will ask you what you used it for.

You must however note that education is very important to help you use your talent better.
Many talented people that did not get education have missed it. They thought their talent will help them become great and rightly so, but they
forgot that raw talent is not enough.

You need to go to school, get a degree and then you will be
better equipped to use your talent profitably.

Also, many use their talents for the devil; the devil has nothing good to offer you. He will
entice you with flashy things, and at the end of the day give you emptiness.

When you use your
talent for God, you will have all round peace and joy in your life.

ACTION POINT:
Don’t waste God’s gift in your life, use your talent well.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 21-25
Mark 7:14-37,
Mark 8:1-21

Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His
Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the
skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove the delights of His
love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His
feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will
go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Open Heaven 1 March 2018 – GOOD SUCCESS

Memorise: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayestobserve to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8

Open Heaven 1 March 2018 Read: Proverbs 1:29-33 (KJV)

1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:

1:30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Open Heaven 1 March 2018 Bible in one year: Numbers 4, 1st Corinthians 14:26-15:11, Hymnal: Sing hymn 6

Open Heaven 1 March 2018 Daily Devotional Message

Our memory verse today lets us know straightaway that not all success is the same. While some success can be good, others can be bad.

If you want your own success to be good, this Book of the Law, which is the Bible, shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall mediate on it day and night to ensure that you live according to all that it says.

The word of God further emphasise the fact that not all success is good success. For example, Proverbs 1:32 tells us that if prosperity is put in the hands of a fool, it will eventually destroy him or her. This means there is a kind of success that brings destruction.

We see this today in the lives of many seemingly successful people, especially celebrities and young stars all over the world. I pray that the kind of success and prosperity that destroys it owner will never come your way in the Name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVEN 1 MARCH 2018

Good success has many facets. It could mean prosperity without adversity. Proverbs 10:22 says that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. It could also mean promotion without the possibility of demotion.

It is better not to be promoted at all, then to be promoted today and demoted tomorrow. Good success also refers to deliverance without any relapse. It is sad that some people who were once delivered have later relapsed into bondage again (Luke 11:24-26).

Good success also manifest as victory without the possibility of future defeat, as well as processing an anointing that never dries up. Good success is salvation without backsliding, and it could also mean several other things. The Lord will grant you good success in the form of a blessing that lasts forever in Jesus’ Name.

For you to experience good success, you must first accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then, you must submit to the authority of the Bible as the eternal word of God, through a diligent study of its teachings. Open Heaven 28 February 2018

You must take the word of God as your absolute guide in all matters relating to human life and existence. Your commitment and obedience to the word of God will bring you to a level of fellowship with God that attracts the assured presence of His almighty power, which enforces the manifestation of good success and prosperity in your life.

As you endeavour to live according to God’s word today, good success and prosperity will accompany everything you do, in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 1 March 2018 Prayer Point

Father, as I submit to the authority of Your word and apply its teachings to my life, please grant me good success in everything I do, in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS 27TH FEBRUARY 2018: POWER IN THE BLOOD

MEMORISE: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death. Revelation 12:11

Open Heaven 27 February 2018

Please read: Revelation 12:10-11

MESSAGE:
The Word of God works in all situations, especially when the user has satisfied every requirement.

If you are making a request and you
are at the same time living in sin, particularly in
secret sin, your sinful state can negatively impact your prayers.

Similarly, when you want to fight the enemy, and you want to use the Word of God as a weapon, quote it correctly or it may
not work for you.

Satan knows the letters of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, so he knows whenever you misquote scriptures and can take advantage of that.

In Matthew 4:1-11, when Jesus came face to face with the devil in the
wilderness, He engaged the word saying, ‘it is written.’ How often do you engage the sword of
the Spirit? How correctly do you quote the
scripture when engaged in warfare?

Moreover, a major weapon available to soldiers in God’s army is the blood of Jesus. If only you
can see into the spiritual realm, then you will appreciate the power of the blood of Jesus.

Arise and cover yourself, family and everything you have with the blood of Jesus.

ACTION POINT:
Attack the enemy with the Blood of Jesus

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 18-20, Mark 7:1-13

Hymn 8
1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of

Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above,
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and
love.

3. To all life thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish-but nought changeth Thee.

4. Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render; o help us to see;
‘Tis only the splendour of light hideth Thee.

Open Heaven 28 February 2018 Bible in one year: Numbers 3, 1st Corinthians 14:6-25, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4

Open Heaven 28 February 2018 Daily Devotional Message

There is a relationship between wisdom and Joy. We see this truth in Ecclesiastes 8:1b:

“A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.”

The reason why the wise possess joy is that they work to bring joy to the people around them and not to themselves alone (2nd Corinthians 2:3). Who then are the wise? Proverbs 10:8a answers this question:

“The wise in heart will receive commandments;”

It takes wisdom and humility of heart for a man to abide by the commandments of God. Alas, these two are in short supply in today’s world. No wonder joy is fast becoming a scarce commodity.

For a lot of people in the world today, God’s commandments are no longer an issue to be considered. Liberal theologians are busy convincing the gullible that the commandments of God are obsolete, moribund and out of fashion.

They argue that the only way to sustain the Christian faith is to abandon the commandments of God as reinforced by Jesus Christ in the gospels. The message of the Bible is being over-contextualized to the point that we have many varieties of beliefs and practices in the Body of Christ today.

It’s presented as if when God was giving His commandments, He did not have the whole world in mind. We must admit the truth that when Jesus Christ was teaching His disciples, He was preparing them to evangelise the world. Open Heaven 27 February 2018

He could therefore not have sent them out to different parts of the world to teach a spiritual curriculum that is different from what He had already taught them as recorded in the gospels. This is the testimony of one of His disciples about their message to the whole world in 1st John 1:3:

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

A hymn writer’s advice would suffice as the crux of the message for today’s devotional: “Trust and obey; for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus; but to trust, and obey.” Only the fear of God, which produces adherence to His commandments, can give you joy unspeakable and make you full of His glory. Be wise today.

Father, please give me the spirit of wisdom that will produce my desired joy in Jesus’ Name.

TRUST AND OBEY

When we walk with the Lord in

the light of His Word,

What a glory He sheds on our

way!

While we do His good will, He

abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and

obey.

Chorus

Trust and obey, for there’s no other

Way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust

and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a

cloud in the skies,

But His smile quickly drives it

away;

Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh

or a tear,

Can abide while we trust and

obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a

sorrow we share,

But our toil He doth richly

repay;

Not a grief or a loss, not a frown

or a cross,

But is blessed if we trust and

obey.
