Read: Luke 21:1-4 Open Heaven 14 June 2018

1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

Message – Open Heaven 14 June 2018 Thursday

It may interest you to know that a great number of Christians and Bible Scholars do not understand or refuse to understand the deeper meaning of today’s memory verse.

What does it mean to sow sparingly? sowing sparingly is an act of giving only a little back to God from the resources He has blessed you with. How do you quantify “Little”? “Little” means the smallest part of what you are able to give to God. An illustration of how we are expected to give can be seen in Luke 21:3-4:

“And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had. “

the above scripture can be described as the mathematics of giving from God’s perceptive. The quality of your giving is hidden in what remains in your pocket after you have given to God. Open Heaven 13 June 2018

Our Lord Jesus Christ said that the rich give unto God out of the abundance of what we have (I align myself with the rich in verse 4 because I want to be numbered among the flourishing); whereas, the poor among us, in spite of their need, give all or almost all that they have. This clearly tells us that those of us who are rich should not compare what we give with what others give because we are not all operating on the same level of prosperity.

Do you know that in the parable of the unprofitable servant, if the servant who received five talents had only gained two additional talents, he would have received less commendation than the servant who received two and gain two more (Matthew 25:14-30)? To whom much is given, much is expected. This is the reason why it is dangerous to indulge in self-comparison with others.

Open Heaven 14 June 2018 Thursday

The story of the giving widow also shows that it is wrong for us to despise the poor for giving the little that they have. More often than not, they have given a higher percentage of what they have compared to the rich amongst us. Unfortunately, in our churches today, we no longer see the type of outburst of appreciation that Jesus Christ expressed over the action of the poor widow.

Sadly, instead of commending, we rather despise those who give out of their poor condition. Beloved , the question is, after you have dropped your offering, how much do you have left for wants (not needs)? I appeal to you to sow bountifully into the work of God’s kingdom when next the opportunity comes your way, and you will reap bountifully in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point – Open Heaven 14 June 2018

Father, Please give me a liberal heart so that I can always sow bountifully into the work of Your kingdom and into the lives of brethren.

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;

Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them

move

At the impulse of Thy love;

Take my feet and let them be

Swift and beautiful for Thee,

Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing

Always, only, for my King;

Take my lips, and let them be

Filled with messages from Thee,

Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my sliver and my gold;

Not a mite would I withhold;

Take my intellect, and use

Every power as Thou shalt choose

Every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine;

It shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart; it is Thine own;

It shall be Thy royal throne,

It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour

At Thy feet its treasure-store.

Take myself, and I will be

Ever, only, all for Thee,

Ever, only, all for thee

Open Heaven 13 June 2018 [Wednesday] – WEARY IN TRIBULATION?

Open Heaven 13 June 2018 Memorise: If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Proverbs 24:10

Read: 2nd Thessalonians 1:1-12 Open Heaven 13 June 2018

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hymnal: Sing hymn 5

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” John 16:33

Our Lord Jesus Christ never hid from us the truth concerning the Way we have been called to. In the above verse and in several other passages of Scripture, He did not mince words, informing us of the trials, tribulations and persecutions we will face while walking with Him on the straight and narrow way (Mark 10:30, Matthew 24:9). Open Heaven 12 June 2018

Because we are aware of this truth, we should therefore courageously stand firm in the face of trials of our faith in the day of adversity, your strength is small. What do you do when you discover that your strength is small in proportion to the tribulations you are facing?

You cry to God to increase your strength just as our Lord cried to the Father for help in the Garden of Gethsemane, when He was confronted with the great agony of carrying the weight of the sins of the whole world. The Father heard His cry, and He sent an angel to strengthen Him (Luke 22:41-44). What the Father did for Jesus, He will also do for you.

Open Heaven June 13 2018

Let us consider some salient points from Paul’s words of encouragement in today’s Bible reading to the brethren in Thessalonica who were facing tribulations. First and foremost, he made them know that the Body of Christ understood what they were passing through and appreciated their endurance in the face of tribulations.

Secondly, he tried to lift their spirit by reminding them that their endurance of tribulation would earn them a place in the kingdom of God, and so they should not be weary. Thirdly, he taught them that God would not allow those who were persecuting them to go unpunished.

The essence of this was to discourage these brethren from seeking to avenge themselves of their persecutors, since vengeance is the Lord’s and He would definitely repay evil men. Furthermore, he reassured them of the prayers of the saints for them.

The heat of those prayers would keep them going irrespective of the cold winds of tribulation blowing against them. The heat of these prayers would keep them going irrespective of the cold winds of tribulation blowing against them.

We must learn from these points not to condemn brethren who are passing through tribulations or trials of faith. There is a tendency for us to always attribute the suffering of the saints to sins they have committed and to condemn them to everlasting “self-examination”.

Instead of attributing their tribulations to sin, the Church took glory in the patience of the Thessalonians in the midst of tribulation (2nd Thessalonians 1:4). Beloved, be encouraged that the difficult phase of life you are passing through will come to an end soon. So, don’t give up! Your Master shares in your tribulation. Be of good cheer because He has overcome the world for your sake.

Message – Open Heaven 11 June 2018 [Monday]

A while ago, I was led to make a statement which some people did not take seriously, because it did not meet with faith in their hearts. The statement was that the use of excessive make-up is a sign of inferiority complex.

I went further to say that people only try to “make up” for what is not good enough. I strongly believe that the Almighty God is the most perfect designer, and in His infinite wisdom He has designed you the way He feels is best for His glory. After all, in Revelation 4:11, the Holy Spirit reveals that He created us for His pleasure:

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and prayer: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

If God created you for His pleasure, it means that what any other person says about how your mouth is shaped, your colour, your height, the hair on your head or even your accent is irrelevant!

The reason for the inferiority complex a lot of people suffer from can be traced to the fact that the glory of God is absent from their lives. Not only was Adam satisfied with they way God made him before the fall, he also appreciated the looks of his wife and admired her with a passion (Genesis 2:23-25). However, after the fall, he was not only fed up with himself, he also saw fault in the wife God “gave” him (Genesis 3:10-12). Open Heaven 10 June 2018

Today’s Bible reading narrates the determination of some young Hebrew men who decided to live a consecrated life, in spite of the fact that they were captives in a strange land.

This should serve as a lesson to Christians who live outside their homeland and decided to throw decency out of the window because of the prevailing situation in the land of their sojourn. Beloved, I implore you to seek something that is needful today, which is the glory of God upon your life through living a consecrated life. Once the glory of God is upon you, you will be the delight of your generation. Open heaven 12 June 2018

Sin robs man of God’s glory, and when God’s glory is out of a man’s life, his or her life becomes miserable and susceptible to demonic attacks.

It was the glory of God upon Daniel that shut the mouths of lions that would have devoured him. It was the glory of God on the young Hebrew men’s lives that made them look fairer and fatter than their peers. May the glory of the Lord come upon you today as you consecrate your life to the Almighty in Jesus’ Name.

Darkness comes over me,

My rest a stone;

Yet in my dreams I’d be

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer to Thee.

There let me see the sight,

An open heaven;

All that thou sendest me,

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer to Thee

Then, with my walking thoughts

Bright with Thy praise,

Out of my stony griefs

Bethel I’ll raise,

So by my woes to be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils : freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:18

20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, “My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”

21 So Gehazi hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him. “Is everything all right?” he asked.

22 “Everything is all right,” Gehazi answered. “My master sent me to say, ‘Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’”

23 “By all means, take two talents,” said Naaman. He urged Gehazi to accept them, and then tied up the two talents of silver in two bags, with two sets of clothing. He gave them to two of his servants, and they carried them ahead of Gehazi.

24 When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the things from the servants and put them away in the house. He sent the men away and they left.

25 When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?”

“Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.

26 But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes—or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves?

27 Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.

Message – Open Heaven 12 June 2018 [Tuesday]

Being endowed with spiritual gifts comes with great responsibility and the need for accountability. Grave consequence are also attached to their misuse. For this reason, every child of God needs to be very careful not to take undue advantage of the gifts of the Holy Spirit deposited in them by God. Our Lord Jesus Christ knew that man was susceptible to abusing the power of God, and so he warned his disciples against merchandising the free gift of God (Matthew 10:18).

He sternly told them that what they had received freely mist also be freely given out. It is a fearful thing to turn the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us into objects of merchandise traded for money, favours or gifts. This so what Simon tried to do when he offered money to Peter to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost operating in Peter’s life. Acts 8:18-19 says:

“When Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given , he offered them money , saying, give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.”

Knowing the implication of this act , Apostle Peter rebuked him sharply and advised him to desist from such diabolical ways. Unfortunately, this is the attitude of some people concerning the ministry of the gospel today. Open Heaven 11 June 2018

Today’s Bible reading speaks about a potential mighty prophet of God who denied himself the opportunity of receiving multiple portions of Elijah’s anointing, all because he loved material possessions. 2Kings 5:20

” But Gehazi , the servant of Elisha the man of God, said , Behold, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.”

The astonishing part of the above scripture is that Gehazi was not the vessel through whom Naaman was healed! In spire of this fact , he was still hell-bent on getting some form of reward for the miracle Naaman had received. In the same vein no minister of God can perform any miracle. Jesus is the only miracle worker, and all Christians are vessels through whom this miracles are performed. Therefore, taking advantage of his works through his spirit in us is fraudulent and diabolic.

20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

Prayer Point – Open Heaven 11 June 2018

Father, please grant me grace to live a consecrated life, and cover me with Your glory.

Open Heaven 11 June 2018 Monday Hymn

Sing hymn 15 – NEARER MY GOD TO THEE

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee;

E’ en though it be a cross

That raiseth me,

Still all my song shall be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee.

Though, like a wanderer

The sun gone down,

Darkness comes over me,

My rest a stone;

Yet in my dreams I’d be

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer to Thee.

There let me see the sight,

An open heaven;

All that thou sendest me,

In mercy given;

Angles to beckon me

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer, my God, to Thee

Nearer to Thee

Then, with my walking thoughts

Bright with Thy praise,

Out of my stony griefs

Bethel I’ll raise,

So by my woes to be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer to Thee

Acts:16.4
And as they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem.
Acts:16.5
So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.

MEMORY VERSE:” Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”. John 15:16

INTRODUCTION:
There is a need for an extra spiritual effort on the soul saved to get them established, localized in a church fellowship and mobilized until they too become soul winners. The Master did not just command us to bear fruits but that the fruits may abide (John 15:16). There is nothing compared to the worth of a soul won into the kingdom of God (Luke15:4-7)

LESSON OUTLINES
1. Fruit-bearing is a must for the believer
2. Abiding fruit is Christ’s command

TEXT REVIEW:ACTS 16:1-5
Apostle Paul in his missionary journey to Derba and Lystra came in contact with a family comprising of a Jewish mother, a Greek father and a son.
i. The Jewish mother was a believer who was convinced that Jesus is the Messiah and author of salvation.

ii. The Jewish mother yielded obedience to Christ. (Acts 16:1) No further details was given on the Greek father.

iii. The son had reputation of faith like the mother. He believed in the Lord Jesus and all the brethren in Iconium and Lystra knew him for his faith in the Lord. Acts 16:2

iv. When Paul saw Timothy and his faith in the Lord, he desired to work with him in the missionary trips and assignment. He was circumcised(not to be saved) but because of the Jews who knew that the father of Timothy was a Greek. Acts 16:3.

v. Paul explained further his reason, for circumcising Timothy, not to satisfy the Jews or spite the Greek, but to win all to Christ. He said “I became a Jew to the Jews that I might gain the Jews and to them that are under the law as under the law that I might gain them…. That I might gain the weak I became as weak…. I became all things to all men that by all means they might be saved. (I Cor. 9:20-22). Paul and the new missionary, Timothy, began to move from churches to churches, from regions of Phrygia to Galatia from Mysia to Bithynia to Troas, etc, establishing the believers in faith. The result of the exploit was awesome. The number of faithful brethren increased daily. Acts 16:4-8.

FRUIT BEARING IS A MUST FOR THE BELIEVER
i. God elected and saved us primarily to bear fruits for Him. John 15:16, Romans 7:4

ii. Failure to bear fruit for Christ will lead to eternal loss of fellowship with Christ. John 15:1-2; Matt. 3:10.

iii. The devil used his wiles and devices such as persecution, tribulation and worldliness to prevent believers from bearing fruits. Matt. 13:18-22
iv. Whenever believers fail to bear fruits, God is disappointed. Luke 13:6-9, Luke 19:20.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1
Identify other reasons why some believers are not bearing fruits for Christ.

ABIDING FRUITS IS CHRIST’S COMMAND
i. Christ ordained believers to bear abiding fruits. John 15:16

ii. Believers must concentrate efforts towards conceiving, maturing and multiplying of the fruits. Col. 1:28

iii. Believers fruits can abide through the follow up of the souls ministry.

iv. The early Church Apostles namely: Paul, Timothy, etc sold out themselves to follow -up of soul ministry. Acts 2:46: 15:36; 16:5; 18:18-23; Eph. 1:15-18; Phil. 2:19-20

v. The follow-up of souls strategies include: visitation of the converts, spending time with the converts, praying for the converts, Bible studying with the believers as the Holy Spirit leads.

vi. The results of the follow- up of soul work include: confirming or establishment of the faith of the believers in Christ, increase in the number of converts who believe the truth (Bible).Acts 2:41-47; Acts 16:5

CLASS ACTIVITY 2
What are the other means of follow-up of souls which can be adopted by believers of today?

SUMMARY
Believers must bear abiding fruits.

CONCLUSION
