OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS AND CHILDREN TUESDAY 5TH JUNE 2018: WHO BELLS THE CAT?
MEMORISE: I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6
Please read: Luke 8:1-3
MESSAGE:
From the story of the Red Sea, we see that God can make way for you in unexpected quarters. The only possible way they thought they could cross that big sea was through a ship, a boat, or to swim through. They may have thought of a way of constructing a bridge
across it. The Israelites least expected a way through the sea. Their faiths were limited.
Even when the way was made in the middle of the sea, the Israelites remained where they were, they wanted someone to go in first to assure them that it was not a death trap. In other words, they wanted someone to bell the cat. God knew this was going to happen and so
He prepared some leaders to go ahead of them. Open Heaven 5 June 2018
God is still in need of those who will bell the cat in worship and righteous living so that others can follow. Will you bell the cat for Christ?
KEY POINT:
Leadership is not in words, but in actions. If you always wait to be told to do something before you do it, your leadership abilities are in doubt.

Hymn 111. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.
2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re ye meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.
3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus !
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
Each piece put on with prayer;
When duty calls or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.

Read: John 6:1-14 Open Heaven 5 June 2018
1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Hymnal: Sing hymn 12
One of the lies of the devil, which every child of God must reject, is that you have nothing good in your hands that can bring profit to your life. To perpetuate this lie, the devil may trivialize that gift of God in you as through nothing substantial can come out of it. Contrary to this lie, in Job 8:7, the Holy Spirit says to you:
“Through thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”
Our memory verse also encourages us not to despise the day of small things. This was the problem with the unprofitable servant in Matthew 25:14-30.
He thought he was not given enough talents to trade with and so he went ahead to hide what he was given. The consequence of this was that even the talent he was initially given was taken away from him, and he was punished for being slothful, indolent and insubordinate. Open Heaven 4 June 2018
Beloved, what is that physical or spiritual gift you are looking down on? The Lord asked me to tell you to value it well so that it will not be taken away from you. Are you given an assignment that you think belittles your status in the Church or in your secular place of work? Please embrace it and do it as unto the Lord.
In John 6:1-14, we read of how the disciples nearly missed the miracle of multiplication because they could not see how five loaves and two fishes could be used to feed several thousands of people. The widow in 2nd Kings 4:1-7 also had a fantastic source of income, but she did not know it until the Lord had mercy on her and led her to Prophet Elisha, who opened her eyes to the “oil well” in a corner of her house.
Another lesson from the feeding in the desert is the blessing attached to giving. Imagine if the boy in this story had refused to release his fish and bread under the assumption that it was too small to feed the multitude! Some people die in abject poverty because they are stingy.
They refuse to give from what they have until they become millionaires and have enough to spare! Many people think that they will lead to financial breakthrough. Beloved, all you need to do is to ask God what line of action you should take. Ask Him to take the lead and to be your senior partner while you follow. I pray that the Lord God of increase will increase you this season in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer point – Open Heaven 5 June 2018
Father, please increase the little I have today in Jesus’ Name.
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them
move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
Take my sliver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for thee

18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.
21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Hymnal: Sing hymn 16
Many children of God are genuine in their Christian walk, but they do not know their rights in God. For this reason, they unfortunately still live at the mercy of the enemy.
A classical example of someone who knew his position in God is Elijah. How I wish all children of God would be like Elijah in this regard. I tell you beloved, if this were the case, the whole world would have been won into the kingdom of God by now. When confronted by a group of soldiers ordered by the king to terminate his ministry, Prophet Elijah in 2nd Kings 1:10simply decreed:
“…If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy firty…”
Exactly what Elijah decreed was what happened, and this happened twice before the third group of soldiers learnt their lesson. The move of God is not found in the multitude of words or in vain repetitions but in the power of Holy Ghost. Open Heaven 3 June 2018However, you cannot walk in this realm without knowing who you are in Christ. Based on today’s Bible text, I have often taught my children that Paul has some credit in his account with God, and so for his sake lives were saved from physical perdition. Having given his all to Christ, he was conscious of the credit he had with Him. For this reason, when he suffered shipwreck with a host of others prisoners, crew and soldiers, he prayed that God should spare their lives.
He even encouraged them to eat because God had spoken with him, assuring him of the safety of every life in the ship. Many lessons can be derived from this, the most profound of these being that Paul knew his position in Christ. In other words, He understood his rights in Christ.
Do you know your position in Christ? Are you aware of your kingdom rights? Can you gauge your credit balance with God? The knowledge of your current standing with God will cause you to improve your relationship with Him in order to appropriate the benefits of life in Christ. When you do this, I can assure you that you will no longer find yourself living at the mercy of the devil and circumstances again.
Action Point – Open Heaven 4 June 2018
Examine yourself to see how much credit you have with God. Endeavour to increase your credit with Him so that you can always have something to draw from in the days of adversity.

RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual June 3rd, 2018 Lesson 40 — Fishing For Men’s Soul
MEMORY VERSE: “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19
BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 4:18-25
18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
INTRODUCTION:
Few are called to be preachers or evangelists but every born again Christian is called to be a fisher of men. Every born again child of God has the opportunity to deal individually and personally with men’s souls. Fishing for a soul is a definite effort to lead a definite person to accept Christ as Saviour and Lord at a definite time. Andrew brought Peter to Christ (John 1:41-42). You too may be the means of bringing a future world preacher to Christ. Why not start today?’
LESSON OUTLINES
1. Why must I fish for men’s souls?
2. What do I need to be a fisher of men?
WHY MUST I FISH FOR MEN’S SOULS?
There are several reasons you must be a fisher of men’s souls.
1. Soul is worth more than the whole treasures of this world before God (Mark 8:35-38).
2. The fact of hell. Every unsaved soul will perish forever in hell fire (John 3:18, Revelations 21:8).
3. The suffering of Christ on the cross for each sinner. Believers must fish for men’s souls in order to ensure that Christ did not die in vain (Romans 5:8; 1Peter 3:18).
4. Because the world will pass away and all its pleasures but only those who are in Christ Jesus will abide forever and will inherit all things (1John 2:17; Revelations 21:7).
5. Because there is a great reward for a soul winner (Proverbs 11:30; Daniel 12:3).
WHAT DO I NEED TO BE A FISHER OF MEN?
1. You must be born again and be sure of your salvation. Only the saved can serve (1Peter 1:23).
2. You must be living a pure life. A life surrendered to Jesus Christ and dedicated to Him (1John 3:3).
3. A fisher must be patient, vigilant and hardworking. This is so because the big fish lives in deep waters (1Thessalonians 5:14).
4. You must be prayerful. Prayers remove the obstacles on the path of the fishers and the souls (2Thessalonians 1:11).
5. The one fishing for souls must at least have a fair knowledge of the word of God. You must study the Bible diligently (2Timothy 2:15).
6. The fisher of men needs wisdom to respond to questions agitating the mind of the soul to be won. God gives wisdom liberally (James 1:5).
7. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives power for a successful soul fishing (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:18).
8. You must have compassion for lost souls, otherwise, you will work with a dead, mechanical, dispassionate concern. Sinners know those who are truly concerned about them (Matthew 9:36).
CONCLUSION:
Every one that is genuinely saved has been called to serve. To serve in the kingdom of Christ begins with fishing for the souls of men. You must be willing and obedient.
QUESTIONS:
1. Who can be a fisher of men?
2. Why must you win souls?
