12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

OPEN HEAVEN 25 AUGUST 2023 MESSAGE

If I were to ask you, “Which do you consider more important – the blessing or the Blesser?” you are likely to say it is the Blesser.

However, there are millions of self-professing Christians around the world today who prioritise God’s blessings above the One who blessed them in the first place.

When you begin to choose your job over God, you are prioritising the blessing over the Blesser. I want you to do an honest check within yourself now: which one have you been prioritising – the blessing or the Blesser?

The unfortunate thing about prioritising the blessing over the Blesser is that the Blesser can withdraw His blessings at any time. In (1 Samuel 16:1), God told Samuel to stop pleading on Saul’s behalf because He had given the throne to someone else.

In Genesis 48:20, we see how Jacob blessed Ephraim above his older brother Manasseh. Ephraim eventually became ten times more successful than his brother (Deuteronomy 33:17).

However, when success came, Ephraim forgot God (Psalm 78:9-11). God kept sending prophets to Ephraim, but he refused to listen to the Blesser. After some time, God said, “Let him alone” (Hosea 4:17).

By the time we get to Hosea 5:9, God said that Ephraim would be desolate. Ephraim lost his blessings because he prioritised them above the Blesser. When success comes, don’t forget God because He has the power to give and to take away.

When I became General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, I decided by faith that God would feed everyone that came for our annual convention.

One of the young men who was a baker said he would provide the bread for breakfast. He later on changed his mind and decided not to supply us with bread as he had promised because he didn’t like a message I preached.

God however, sent help to us and we were able to purchase the bread we required. Years later, my baker friend appeared at my house very early one morning. I said, “What can I do for you? You came very early”.

He said he would have come earlier but one of his tires got flat and he didn’t have a spare. This was a man who used to have numerous cars; now, he didn’t even have a spare tire because he placed the blessing above the Blesser.

Beloved, focus on the Blesser and not the blessing.

Lord, bless me abundantly to be a blessing like Abraham (Genesis 24:35). May Your glory shine through my prosperity, in the mighty name of Jesus.

People get tempted in the area of their weaknesses, but over the years, I have seen some believers get tempted from a point of strength, that is, where the object of temptation is not so attractive.

The devil whispers to them to ignore the temptation seeing that it is not an area of their weakness.
Unconsciously, the tempted begins to let down his/her guard, and the temptation grows stronger until it becomes irresistible.
Why would you communicate with the opposite sex every night under the guise of private tutorials, Bible study, or a friendly call?
Samson didn’t think he would fall, his strength got into his head.
Many teenagers today who have strength become victims due to a lack of wisdom.
The devil will tell you that a little peck on the cheek or lips or caressing isn’t harmful, but the truth is that if you don’t run from the object of sin and immorality.

You will eventually fall into it.

My dear, everything matters. Run when you should so that you won’t end up a victim of sin.

OPEN HEAVEN 24 AUGUST 2023 MESSAGE

The first lesson I want us to learn in today’s devotional reading is that God is delighted in our prosperity and this is why He gave us His commandments.

Psalm 1:1-3 says: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

As we progress in this second half of the year, we should take note of the factors that will aid our all-round prosperity.
Some people misinterpret or do not know why the rich man in Luke 12:16-21 died the way he did at the peak of his prosperity.
It was simply because he did not acknowledge God as the source of his wealth.
He was also so engrossed in acquiring wealth that he did not know when his time was up; hence he did not prepare for eternity (Luke 16:21).
His error was not that he became rich because as a matter of fact, God is interested in the prosperity of His children.
The Bible says in (3 John 2): Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
The Bible says further that God gives the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18).

The Church also is expected to prosper through all-around growth.

For example, Luke 12:1 describes the audience of Jesus as an ‘innumerable multitude of people’ which signifies a huge growth in His ministry.
Zechariah 1:17 also says that, through prosperity shall the cities of the Lord be spread abroad.
The Bible, however, also says that the so-called prosperity of sinners shall destroy them (Proverbs 1:32).
Beware of ungodly means of getting wealth, so that you can avoid the sorrows that come with ill-gotten riches (1 Timothy 6:6-10).

Let’s Pray in Jesus’ name!

I worship and adore You, my Father, for Your blessings that enrich without adding sorrow, as seen in Proverbs 10:22.

Gracious Father, I express gratitude for where You have led me from, where I stand now, and the glorious path You are guiding me towards.

Father, in any way I have fallen short of Your glory, I plead for Your mercy and forgiveness, trusting in Your promise of grace in 1 John 1:9.

Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to establish a legacy of blessings and divine inheritance for my children and future generations, inspired by Psalm 112:2.

Father, empower me to diligently fulfill the conditions You set forth for divine and generational blessings, as stated in Deuteronomy 28:1-2.

Lord, bestow upon me the strength to willingly pay any required price for Your blessings, remembering the lessons of Matthew 19:21.

Father, let Your blessings relentlessly chase after and overtake me, aligning with the promises of Deuteronomy 28:2.

I implore You, Father, to instill in me a heart of sacrificial giving, in line with 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, as an offering of gratitude for Your blessings.

Father, may my dedication to You be unwavering, even in the face of great sacrifices, reflecting the principles of Luke 21:4.

As I move through life, I decree and declare that Your blessings manifest through me, impacting not only my life but also the lives of those around me, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Father, extend Your call to those who are yet to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior, reaching out to them with Your grace and love. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Father, deliver my nation from the darkness of this world and all the evil manipulators striving day and night to end the light in my nation, in Jesus’ name. (Ephesians 6:12)

Father, please visit my situation (mention your personal challenges) with Your light and make a way where there seems to be no way, in Jesus’ name. (Isaiah 43:19)

Father, please bless Your son Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye for all his years of continual service, remember him, guide him on the path, help him remain focused, and bless his entire household, in Jesus’ name.

Even though the Bible refers to God as the unchanging changer, once in a while, He still changes His mind if a sinner who was heading for hell truly repents of his/her sins, He/she will win God’s heart and have his/her name written in the book of life.

Likewise, if a righteous man whom God has purposed to make great suddenly returns to his/her sins, God will immediately delete his/her name from the book of life.

It’s good to know what God has said about you or a situation, but it is better to know what He is presently.saying now. Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Unfortunately, many people walk out on God’s plans for their lives and eventually end up badly. God has set before everyone both life and death and has advised us to choose life.

Beloved, God’s plans for you are beautiful. Please cooperate with Him so that He won’t have to change His mind concerning you.
