OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 15 JUNE 2024 MESSAGE

We live in dangerous times when wicked people take advantage of innocent children and teenagers.

I pray that God will preserve you from predators, in Jesus’ name.

However, if you have fallen victim to abuse already, I want you to know that it was not your fault; therefore, you should stop feeling guilty for what happened.

My dear child, there is hope and healing in Christ Jesus for the abused.

The journey of healing will look different for each person, but it begins with speaking about the abuse to a godly and mature counsellor.

He or she would guide you on what to do. You also need to place your burdens and pains on Jesus. When you do this, you will feel lighter.

He will also help you to forgive yourself and the offender so that there can be healing and recovery.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 15 JUNE 2024 ACTION POINT

If you have been abused, please speak up today. Beloved, don’t think that being abused is the end of a virtuous life. You can still live virtuously and holy. Don’t worry: God has got your back.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 15 JUNE 2024 HYMN 1 – LET US WITH A GLADSOME MIND

Ever faithful, ever sure

4. All things living He doth feed;
His full hand supplies their need:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure

5. He His chosen race did bless
In the wasteful wilderness:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure.

6. He hath with a piteous eye
Looked upon our misery:
For His mercies shall endure,
Ever faithful, ever sure

OPENING PRAYER: My Father, I frustrate every destroyer of my destiny in the name of Jesus.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 11:1-6.
[1]But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
[2]Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
[3]And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
[4]For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
[5]For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
[6]And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
MEMORY VERSE: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11.

INTRODUCTION: Destiny is God’s purpose for a man’s life. It is a divinely pre-planned destination. It is the totality of God’s counsel for a person and what He has decided concerning a person even before conception (Jeremiah 1:5). As good as it is, at several points in life, it still depends on one’s attitude and agreement with God. God has a prepared destination for us and we must surrender totally to Him to avoid destiny destroyers that may want to scuttle God’s plan for our lives.

LESSON AIM: To study some destiny destroyers and victims of destiny destroyers.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:
Through this lesson, students should be able to:
a. Discover those things that can destroy destinies.
b. Discover some examples of people who were victims of destiny-destroying forces.

TEACHING PLAN:
To attain the above objectives, the teacher should:
a. Allow the Assistant Teacher to review the previous week’s lesson. Furthermore, the Assistant Teacher should conduct the lesson, guide the students to recite the memory verse, read the Bible passage, conduct the class, and mark the attendance and the assignment.
b. Students should respond to the instructions of the Assistant Teacher. They should participate in the class activities and take the opening and closing prayers together. The teacher should explain the two lesson outline to the students, summarize, conclude, and evaluate the lesson then give the assignment.

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Kings 11:1-6.
The teacher should identify any five (5) things from the Bible passage which King Solomon did to provoke God.
i. ………………………………………………
ii. ……………………………………………
iii. ……………………………………………
iv. ……………………………………………
v. ……………………………………………

OUTLINES:
1. DESTINY DESTROYERS
2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES

1. DESTINY DESTROYERS
Some destiny destroyers are mentioned below.
1. Ignorance: This is a destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6). If we are aware of our destiny, we shall be free, focused, and fulfilled. Failure to do so may lead to destruction (John 8:32).
2. Pursuit Of Vanity: Solomon pursued so much vanity until he became a complete backslider. The privileges of wealth and lack of self-control ruined his destiny (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11).
3. Lack Of Faith: This is also a destiny destroyer (1 Timothy 1:19).
4. Pride: Pride is excessive self-esteem. It is when you are filled with an exciting sense of credit due to yourself. Pride is a sin and it leads to loss and destruction (James 4:6).
5. Sinful Lifestyles: Sins not confessed and forsaken are dangerous because they provoke God to anger. A man who is living in sin cannot fulfil his destiny or attain the eternal destination which God has promised (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:23).
6. Anger: Uncontrolled emotional outburst has led many people out of God’s purpose for their lives (Ecclesiastes 7:9; Proverbs 29:22).
7. Laziness: This will make an idle person perpetually under the industrious person. (Proverbs 12:24).
8. Prayerlessness: It can cause the enemy to take advantage of a man’s destiny (Matthew 13:25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention some of the things people are engaged in that are capable of destroying their destinies.

2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES
There are cases of people who, by one means or the other, had their destinies destroyed. They include:
i. Solomon (1Kings 11:1-11).
ii. Samson (Judges 16:6-18).
iii. Judas Iscariot (Matthew 27:3-5).
iv. Demas (2Timothy 4:10).
v. Gehazi (2 Kings 5:20-27).
vi. Reuben (Genesis 49:3-4).
vii. Achan (Joshua 7:24-25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention why you think some people are bent on destroying their own destinies e.g smokers.
CONCLUSION: Run away from destiny destroyers and make up your mind to live a life that will enhance the fulfilment of your destiny.

QUESTIONS:
* Mention five destiny destroyers that you know.
* Identify four cases of people whose destinies were destroyed as found in the bible

EVALUATION:.Mention why you think some people are bent on destroying their own destinies- e.g. smokers.

CLOSING PRAYER: Saviour, please do not let me permit anything to destroy my destiny in Jesus’name.

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five people in the Bible whose destinies were destroyed and the cause. (2×5=10 marks).

BIBLE PASSAGE: ‭‭Luke 4:16-21 NKJV‬‬
[16] So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
[17] And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: [18] “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
[19] To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
[20] Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
[21] And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

MEMORY VERSE: “…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.’’1 John 3:8b (NKJV).

INTRODUCTION: The word, purpose is a keyword you need to employ to stand out and be fulfilled. It is a goal or an intention. It is also the reason for which something is done. To understand your purpose is to know the reason for your existence. We shall explain this by attempting to provide answers to the questions ‘‘who are you?’’ and ‘‘why are you here?’’

OUTLINES:
1. WHO ARE YOU?
2. To understand your purpose in life is to first know who you are. This goes beyond your numerous names, family backgrounds, qualifications, etc. Therefore, to know who you are, it is important for you to:
1. Go to God who is the “Master Sculptor” – Ask God why He created you. PRAY! (Jeremiah 1:5; Hebrews 4:13).
2. Recognise the ‘giant’ in you – God created man uniquely with a brain that is sharper than a “supercomputer” and with the inner ability to do great exploits. This is what makes you ‘‘YOU.’’ (Psalm 139:14; 1Samuel 17:32-36).
3. Identify and optimize your gifts – What is that thing you can do with ease? You are graced in that area, harness it (Ephesians 4:7-8)
4. Discover your areas of strengths and weaknesses – Know what brings out the greatness in you and deal with what dwarfs you (1 Corinthians 7:20).
5. Learn from those ahead and seek counsel – Read life-inspiring books, listen to those fulfilling purpose, and attend life-transforming conferences (2 Thessalonians 3:7; Proverbs 20:18).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Class should discuss the benefits of discovering purpose in life.

2. WHY ARE YOU HERE?
This question looks simple but it is broad in one sense and deep in another sense. But it is easy to discover purpose once you know the ‘‘why.’’ Let us look at the following:
i. Why are you in that family, organization, school, church, etc.? (Genesis 45:5, Esther 4:14).
ii. Why are you in that country or relocating? Until you know the reason why you are in that location you may not eat the good of the land (Genesis 26:1-3).
iii. Why are you doing what you are doing presently? (John 18:37).
iv. Why do you occupy that leadership position? You must know why you occupy that seat if not, abuse will be inevitable (1 Corinthians 15:10).
v. Why are you alive? Living is a privilege from God; you must know the reason why you are alive. Set long and short-term goals that must be achieved daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Every hour must count (1Corinthians 9:26).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Student should discuss why it takes a long time for some people to discover purpose while others do not discover at all.

CONCLUSION: When you know who you are and you find answers to your WHYs, you do not beat about the bush; you only find the way to make things happen. Discover your purpose!

QUESTIONS:
* What is a purpose?
*. Mention five ways purpose could be discovered

FURTHER READING: SUN: Judges 13:5. MON: Esther 4:13. TUES: Eccl. 3:1. WED: Matt. 1:21. THURS: Acts 9:6. FRI: Acts 6:3. SAT: 1 Peter 2:9.

RCCG HOUSE FELLOWSHIP LEADERS’ MANUAL 16 JUNE 2024

LESSON FORTY ONE (42)
TOPIC: LOOK UP!

OPENING PRAYER: Father, I receive grace to look up unto You daily for help and guidance in Jesus name.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leader should remind members what it means to be in God’s presence and the benefits thereof.

MEMORY VERSE: “Looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and is set down at thy right hand of the throne of God. “Hebrews 12:2

BIBLE TEXT: Psalms 121:1-3
[1](A Song of degrees.) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
[2]My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
[3]He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Look up maybe termed divine order to keep all believers from being distracted from godly goals, aims, objectives, divine expectation and being guided from being choked by worldly wolves. In Genesis 22:3, the Bible says, “Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by its horns.” We can see there that God’s response to Abraham’s expectation was received immediately he looked up to God.

LESSON AIM: To explain to members reasons to always look up at every point in time to the Author and the Finisher of our faith.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
• understand the need to always look up.
• know the dangers accrued to distractions or drifting focus from God

TEXT REVIEW: Psalms 121:1-3
Lifting one’s eyes to divine direction will always bring positive response.
b. Only God can grant needed help.
c. God will not allow evil to befall you because He does not sleep nor slumber.
d. God always keep His eyes upon the righteous.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE
WHY LOOKING UP?
In this context, we are emphasizing on looking up to God Almighty.
When you look up to God;
i. a shameful and disgraceful life is terminated-Psalms 34:5.
ii. only in God, we find help – Psalms 46:1.
iii. your recovery will be total-I Samuel 30:8.
iv. giants will be subdued-1 Sam. 17:45-47; Esther 4:14-16, 7:7-10.
v. your request will be granted – Numbers 14:28; 23:19.
vi. you receive absolute rest from evil connivances-IKings 5:4; II Sam. 7:1.
vii. there is validation of our sonship as children of God-1 John 3:2.
viii. there is provision from God to guide you to the end without falling.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO
THE DANGERS OF LOOKING DOWN
To look down means working contrary to God’s pattern, to believe you are self-sufficient, no need for assistance, to believe your success is by your own power.

Let us look at the dangers of not looking up to God.
1. You are exposed to attack since there is suspension of divine presence.
2. Your defence has been withdrawn-1 Samuel 19:9.
3. Walking and operating in error – 1 Samuel 15:9-11. 4. Victory is suspended and curse is unleashed – II Samuel 12:7-12
5. Affliction and devaluation of godly virtues.

ACTIVITY: Mention biblical characters who obtained their expectation by looking up to God.

SUMMARY: Help, solution, blessing, etc. can only come from above.

CONCLUSION: Looking up is an act of readiness to obtain information about something. The lame man at the beautiful gate looked up to Peter and John with full expectation and he was rewarded with victory over stagnation and sickness sickness of many years. Will you look up to Him?

PRAYER POINTS
1. Almighty God, as we look up to You, may we never be disappointed.

OUTLINES:
1. DESTINY DESTROYERS
2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES

1. DESTINY DESTROYERS
Some destiny destroyers are mentioned below.
1. Ignorance: This is a destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6). If we are aware of our destiny, we shall be free, focused, and fulfiled. Failure to do so may lead to destruction (John 8:32).
2. Pursuit Of Vanity: Solomon pursued so much vanity until he became a complete backslider. The privileges of wealth and lack of self-control ruined his destiny (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11).
3. Lack Of Faith: This is also a destiny destroyer (1Timothy 1:19).
8. Prayerlessness: It can cause the enemy to take advantage of a man’s destiny (Matt.13:25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention some of the things people are engaged in that are capable of destroying their destinies.

2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES
There are cases of people who, by one means or the other, had their destinies destroyed. They include Solomon (1Kings 11:1-11), Samson (Judges 16:6-18), Judas Iscariot (Matthew 27:3-5), Demas (2Timothy 4:10), Gehazi (2 Kings 5:20-27), Reuben (Genesis 49:3-4), Achan (Joshua 7:24-25).

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five people in the Bible whose destinies were destroyed and the cause. (2×5=10 marks).

MEMORISE: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

READ: Ecclesiastes 4:1
So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

MESSAGE
Action Point: If you have been abused, please speak up today. Beloved, don’t think that being abused is the end of a virtuous life. You can still live virtuously and holy. Don’t worry: God has got your back.

*READ: Proverbs 10:4-5*
[4]He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

[5]He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

*MESSAGE:*
Saving helps a fellow to control I his or her spending. Your parents might currently be paying your bills, but a time will come when you will have to start settling your bills by yourself. At that time, having some savings will come in handy.

The Bible supports the habit of saving as we read in today’s memory verse.
You do not have to start earning before you can save. You can start small by putting a certain amount of your pocket money in a piggy bank, either daily or weekly. Don’t spend all that you receive; rather, cultivate the habit of setting aside some money so that you will not be regarded as ‘foolish’, as stated in today’s memory verse.

Saving is not only for the future or so that you will not go broke; it is a means of honouring God because it shows that you value Him and the resources He has blessed you with. If you do not have a saving culture, please develop the habit of doing so from today.

*KEY POINT:*
Ensure that you always save part of all that you receive.

*HYMN 14 – STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD*
1. Standing on the promises of Christ our King,
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring:
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

*CHORUS*
Standing, Standing,
Standing on the promises of
God my Saviour
Standing, Standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that can-not fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living word of Go I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

MEMORISE:

Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
Proverbs 17:6

READ: Deuteronomy 11:19-21
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 17 JUNE 2024 TODAY MESSAGE
A major danger in this generation is that parents are so busy with work that they neglect their children. It is absolutely wrong for domestic helps or nannies to spend more time with children than their parents. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says that evil communication corrupts good manners.

Whomever children communicate with the most is whom they learn from the most. If you are a parent, you owe it to God to raise the children He has given you and not hand that responsibility over to someone else.

Nowadays, it is almost as if couples are competing with each other on who makes the most money.

So, while men are out working, women are also working, leaving children without proper care.

Fathers and mothers must both be available to raise the children that God has given to them.

Psalms 127:3 says that children are God’s heritage; in other words, when you leave this world, what God expects you to leave behind for Him are the children that He has brought under your care, and this is not limited to your biological children.

Parents are only caretakers, and if they damage what has been placed under their care, they will pay dearly for it.

There were times I wanted to play football with my peers as a little boy, but thank God my mother was always home to send me inside the house to study my books. I thought she was being mean, but she built in me the ability to ignore distractions and focus on my goals.

The fear of my father’s punishments also put me in check while growing up. My elder brother was quite strong, but the day I saw him crying when my father disciplined him, I determined never to do anything that will make my father discipline me.

Some children develop bad habits right under their parents’ roof. However, the parents only get to find out several years later, and at that time, it takes only the grace of God for them to change. If you are a parent, don’t be too busy to train the children that God has given you.

When you leave this world, the cars you drove and houses you bought will not matter; what will matter are the children you left behind.

There is an African adage that says, ‘If you refuse to build your child because you are building a house, the child you did not build will sell the house you built.

As a parent, the children God has given to you must be your priority, not material possessions.
