TUESDAY: CHILD OF DESTINY

MEMORISE: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Luke 2:52

READ: Jeremiah 29:11
[11]For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

MESSAGE
The circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus were enough to make any child in His shoes depressed and feel stigmatised. He was conceived before His parents were married, and the events surrounding His conception were kept secret until His birth. Jesus’ childhood must have been very eventful, and I can imagine that He heard a lot about His unpalatable place of birth in the marketplace whenever He followed His dad to his carpentry shop.
One thing that stood out for Jesus was that He was a child of destiny whose coming to the world had been prophesied by prophets over a thousand years before. His destiny was to save humanity and reconcile every man to God.
Similarly, you have been created by God and destined for greatness. No matter the circumstances that surrounded your birth, I decree that your tomorrow shall be great, in Jesus’ name. Do not be worried about the things you cannot change; rather, begin to focus on your uniqueness and ask the Holy Spirit to help you fulfil your glorious destiny.

CONFESSION
I will never be stranded because my destiny is secured in Christ.

HYMN 5 – JESUS, MY LORD, MY GOD, MY ALL
1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
Hear me, blest Saviour, when I call;
Hear me, and from Thy dwelling place
Pour down the riches of Thy grace;

CHORUS
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
Oh make me love Thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how extol Thy matchless fame,
The glorious beauty of Thy name?

3. Jesus, what didst Thou find in me,
That Thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that Thou hast brought
So far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of Thee shall be my song,
To Thee my heart and soul belong;
All that I have or am is Thine,
And Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 29 APRIL 2024 READ: Judges 6:11-15
[11]And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

[12]And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

[13]And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

[14]And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

[15]And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

Be a vessel of evangelism and share these life-changing messages, prayers, and declarations with the precious people around you.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 29 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

No one was born perfect. All human beings have a measure of weakness that they deal with at different times.

However, some people have harnessed their strengths and are doing great despite their weaknesses.

For instance, did you know that Gideon was the least in his father’s lineage?

In fact, he had an inferiority complex that was strong enough to shrink him from the presence of an angel.

He gave many excuses for not being able to lead God’s people in battle, yet the angel addressed him as a “mighty man of valour.”

Beloved, there is greatness in you, and you should do things that would amplify your strengths while you work on your weaknesses with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Keep friends that will encourage, support and help you focus on your strengths.

Read books on self- development, work on your character, and take on responsibilities that will enable you to manifest your best self.

HYMN 3 – DRAW ME NEARER

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS:
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee

INTRODUCTION

Waiting on God is not only difficult, but sometimes, it seems impossible. We want things to happen in our timing, according to our plan, but God does not operate on our schedules (Isaiah 55:8-9).

God wants us to wait on Him in eager anticipation, knowing that He is with us and in control of our lives.

He will do what He has promised. He will rescue and save us. He is always working for our good, even when we do not feel His presence or understand the situation (Romans 8:28).

TEACHING OBJECTIVES,

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Understand the meaning, and blessings of The “waiting room”.
  2. Discover what to do in the waiting room.

OUTLINES:

  1. THE “WAITING ROOM” AND ITS BLESSINGS
  2. THINGS TO DO IN THE WAITING ROOM

1. THE “WAITING ROOM” AND ITS BLESSINGS

This outline is subdivided into three units

A. DEFINITION OF THE “WAITING ROOM”

i. The ‘waiting room’ is a place of seeking God’s intervention over a situation or condition. (Psalm 40:1).

ii. It is the gap between God’s promises and their fulfilments. (Genesis 21:2; Romans 4:18-21).

iii. It is the space between “crying” for a change and God’s response to the cries. (Jonah 2:2; Lamentations 3:55-58)

iv. It is where we prepare for the next phase of the journey. (Genesis 28:10-16).

B. NATURE OF THE ‘WAITING ROOM’:

i. Waiting is unavoidable (Psalm 145:15); at one point or the other, we all have to wait on God for something (Psalm 130:5-6)

ii. Waiting will not be forever (2 Corinthians 4:17; Romans 8:18).

iii. Sometimes, God puts us in the waiting room against our will to allow us to change (Jonah 1:17).

iv. At other times, God uses the “waiting room” to test our commitment and grow our faith (Psalm 66:10-12).

v. The ability to wait on the Lord comes from being confident and focused on who God is and What He is doing (Philippians 1:6).

C. BLESSINGS OF WAITING

Some blessings accrue to us when we are in God’s waiting room.

i. We learn and experience trust (Romans 4:21).

ii. Waiting renews our strength (Isaiah 40:31)

iii. Bullds our faith and confidence in God (Romans 4:19-20).

iv. Takes away shame (Isaiah 61:7).

v. Build patience (James 1:3), makes us authorities as we showcase His glory (Job 23:10).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:

Biblical examples of people who waited on God

2. THINGS TO DO IN THE WAITING ROOM

How we emerge from God’s waiting room is dependent on our attitude. We must take heed of the following

i. Waiting on God requires us to put aside our ways of doing things, and trust His timing and plans (Psalm 90:4).

ii. We should not alter God’s timetable by going contrary to His will (Job 14:14; Hebrews 12:2).

iii. We must be sure of God’s direction (Psalm 37:23; Isaiah 30:21). We should be thankful for what God will do in our situation (Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

iv. We need to also learn to be content and patient (Hebrews 6:15; 10:36).

v. We should be of good courage (Psalm 27:14), actively seeking God in prayer and studying the word of God (1 Chronicles 16:11; Psalm 130:5).

vi. We need to consciously take actions as directed by the Holy Spirit (Proverbs 3:5-6).

vii. We must channel our strengths to other areas of interest, our lives must not revolve around our challenges.

CLASS ACTIVITY 2:

Discuss why some people decide to take shortcuts instead of waiting on God.

CONCLUSION: RCCG Sunday School Teachers Manual 28 April 2024

Remember that delay is not denial. You are in God’s waiting room, and He is at work.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 28 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

The entire book of Revelation was written by John the Beloved, who was one of Jesus’ favourites while He was on earth.

When God wanted to reveal the events that would mark the end of the world, He told John to document all that he would see and hear.

Have you been asking God to reveal your purpose to you, and yet you do not have a journal?

My dear child, God is not careless about His words, which He makes known to us through dreams, visions, and prophecies.

In my house, I have notepads and pens everywhere, even in my car, because I know God can speak to me at any time, and I must be prepared to write down the things He says immediately so as not to miss out on any details.

A wise man once said, “The faintest pen is better than the sharpest memory.” It is what you write that you will remember. When you dream or think about new ideas, make it a habit to write them down so that you can follow up on their manifestation.

TOPIC: FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Lord, I receive grace to enter into my financial breakthrough in Jesus’ name.

TODAY’S LESSON

BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 26:12-16

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.

13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;

14 for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.

15 Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth.

16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

MEMORY VERSE: Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

INTRODUCTION

There has been so much instability in recent times and it looks like a whole lot of things are becoming unattainable, especially in the place or finance.

Dwindling economic realities around the world make it more difficult to believe that financial independence exists given the rate at which companies fold up, the rate of inflation, and exchange rate vulnerability just to mention but a few.

A lot of people today either borrow to survive or wait on a paycheque from their employer before any financial decision or action is taken over their well-being and that of their family.

It is important to know that God has a financial plan for us as his children and he does not want us to be poor (3 John 1:2a).

We would be looking at what financial independence is, how it relates to us as Christians, and practical steps we can take to attain financial independence.

B. It means having sufficient income, savings, or investment to last a lifetime without necessarily waiting to be paid by someone else at the end of the month.

C. It is being able to attend to your needs conveniently without regrets while preparing for tomorrow.

D. Financial Independence is not starvation, the inability to attend to today’s need just to provide for tomorrow.

E. It is not being stingy or lacking the ability to be compassionate and do good to others.

F. It is also not to love money like Achan or Judas (Joshua 7:20-21; John 12:4-6).

  4. Being disciplined (spending prudently).
  5. Investing and not just saving.
  6. Eliminating or avoiding debt
  7. Acquiring financial knowledge, being wise and diligent.

2. It is possible to be financially independent, especially as Christians (Luke 1:37).

3. Even if it seems hard for others, we should always believe that it is attainable (Deuteronomy 8:18).

[3]If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 27 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

Yesterday. I taught about learning from the ants and how they achieve incredible feats despite their small stature.

Another lesson to learn from the ants is that they know how to prepare for their desired harvest.

Harvests do not just come; they are planned for. Before the sky brings forth rain, it must have been full (Ecclesiastes 11:3).

Many times, believers expect a downpour of blessings without working towards it.

However, blessings do not work that way. If you fail to load your clouds, there will be no rain.

To be like the ants, you must take decisive actions concerning your future.

If you make good investments with your earnings, a harvest of profits will be waiting for you. You cannot harvest what you have not sown.

Cut down on your expenses and plan to invest your earnings. This way, you will not experience lack.

Beloved, cultivate the habit of saving and being prudent in your spending.

Do not eat up both your fruit and seed. I pray that you will not experience lack, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 26 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

Your size, disabilities, or weaknesses should not limit you from being successful in life.

If the Bible considers ants to be wise, it is because they do not allow their stature to limit them.

An example of a fellow who wasn’t limited by his stature is Apostle Paul.

Research hints that he was very short that he could pass for a dwarf.

However, his petite stature did not prevent his gigantic achievements. He achieved more than his peers; in fact, he wrote more books than anyone in the New Testament.

If anyone had a reason not to be outstanding, it was Paul.

Beloved, I want you to learn from Paul: never limit yourself. You have all it takes to excel; all you have to do is to fully tap into your potential.

You have no excuse for not achieving your goals. If little ants can be an inspiration, you can also be one with the help of God.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 26 APRIL 2024 HYMN 5 – JESUS, MY LORD, MY GOD, MY ALL

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
Hear me, blest Saviour, when I call;
Hear me, and from Thy dwelling place
Pour down the riches of Thy grace;

CHORUS
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
Oh make me love Thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how extol Thy matchless fame,
The glorious beauty of Thy name?

3. Jesus, what didst Thou find in me,
That Thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that Thou hast brought
So far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of Thee shall be my song,
To Thee my heart and soul belong;
All that I have or am is Thine,
And Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine.
