THEME: NO ADULTS IN THE KINGDOM

MEMORISE: And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3

READ: Matthew 18:1-4

1. At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who saying, Who isis the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2. And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus said that except we are all like little children, no one will make it to heaven. The problem however is that many teenagers have started acting like adults in the kingdom matters.

You think that you can pray for up to an hour, fast and recite some scriptures offhand, then you are now a spiritual giant.

This is very untrue! When Jesus was teaching us to pray in Matthew 6, He said we are to start with “Our Father”.

That implies, the moment you start to feel like a spiritual adult, you are no longer a part of the Kingdom.

You must be humble. When you hear that a fellow teenager is going to preach in Sunday School, don’t decide to stay away because you feel like you know more than the fellow.

When it is time for Bible quiz, don’t act like you are better than everyone else.

Don’t study Greek words just to show everyone that you study the Bible. You must remain humble if you are to remain in the Kingdom of God.

KEY POINT:

The moment you begin to feel as if you are a spiritual, you lose your place in the Kingdom of God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: GENESIS 29-30 ; MATTHEW 10:1-23

Hymn 7

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moment and days
Let them flow ceaseless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love
Take my feet and them be
Swift and beautiful for thee

3.Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.

4.Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.

5.Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,

6.Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At They feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee

TOPIC: SHINING IN PURITY

READ – OPEN HEAVEN 12 JANUARY 2020

MEMORY VERSE:

1 Timothy 4:12 – “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

BIBLE TEXT: Esther 2:15-18

15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

16 So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Purity is a command because we serve a holy God.

INTRODUCTION: Shining in purity is possible when we obey the leading and instructions of the Holy Spirit. When it was the turn of Esther to go unto the king, she requested for only what the king´s servant suggested. And Esther won the favour of everyone who saw her. God used her to save her people.

TOPIC: STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD

MEMORY VERSE: “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed.” 2 John 1:10

BIBLE PASSAGE : 2 Timothy 2:14-19

14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

One of the simplest definitions of the word “study” is to examine thoughtfully for understanding.

A student is one who studies or a pupil learning for scholarship. However, the student is like a learner, and in early learning environment, there must be a teacher. As children of God (=Born Again) our most qualified teacher is the word of God (Joshua 1:8).

Hence the advice to study to show ourselves approved. One of the major problems in education of people is not to have unqualified learners.

You will always have them. The problem is that no teaching – learning environment can make progress with a teacher that does not have mastery of the subject matter.

False prophets and teachers have been annoying the children of God since the time of the Old Testament, but their role and effect was made clear to the church during the missionary work of Paul – Deuteronomy 13; Titus 3:10-11; Acts 15:24; 2 Corinthians 11:4; Revelation 2:2.

The bible passage referred above said we should study so as to work out our approval before God and not man. When a person studies, he/she learns the truth and helps the learner not to fall for lies or heresies.

WHAT IS DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH?
This is a process of study that helps you to get the truth. It can be classified into three stages:

1. LEARNING: This process requires you to know all you have never known by learning or experience.

2. RE-LEARN: This process helps you to emphasize and get mastery of what you have learned.

3. DE-LEARNING: This is the process of sifting the wheat from the husk. Here the half-truth and untrue concepts are eliminated or removed.

WHERE CAN I GET THESE PROCESSES?

Every educational support of churches, ministries and fellowship make available three learning processes through platforms like Directorate of Christian Education (DCE) in RCCG, Redeemed Christian Bible College (RCBC), School of Disciples (SOD), the Redeemed Christian School of Mission (RECSOM), House Fellowship Leadership Training etc.

A born-again Christian must go through these processes as he/she has to be under studies of the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is critical because the bible is only a curriculum, the teacher is the Holy Spirit. No wonder, the way a scripture is revealed to a person, who is spirit filled, is different from the one who looks at it as an ordinary literature book.

CONCLUSION:

You study the word of God intensively with the help of the Holy Spirit. Only then can you discern the truth from falsehood.
Heresies have been predicted over two thousand years ago.

No wonder, they are here, however, you can save yourself from being deceived as an elect, when you study to show yourself approved unto God by dividing the word of truth correctly.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, please release your fire to strengthen me for the study of Your word.

2. Father, you are the word yourself, please reveal yourself to every area of my life.

3. Father, please make RCCG, always impactful in biblical truth.

4. Father, please release wisdom for the teaching and learning of the truth in Your word.

5. Father, please begin to collapse every tabernacle of heresies in our generation in Jesus name.

GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK

MONDAY: 1 Chronicles 28:8 – All you need to know about your life and destiny is knowing what God says.

TUESDAY: Psalm 119:125 – The word of God is like medicine. The medicine works only when you apply it to the affected areas of your life.

WEDNESDAY: Psalm 119:89 – Gods word never changes; it endures forever.

THURSDAY: Acts 28:28 – The only clean-up for heresies is to teach and to preach the truth.

FRIDAY: Acts 17:11 – Keep the tradition of always comparing the bible teaching or preaching with the word in the bible (God´s word).

SATURDAY: Psalm 78:1-8 – Christian education should begin at homes / at House Fellowship Centres

SUNDAY: Deuteronomy 11:16-21 – Dividing the word of truth should be a continuous practice.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:

Health care is the maintenance or improvement of health via prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, illness, injury and other physical/mental impairments in humans beings.

The bible is definitely pro- health and encourages us to take care of ourselves when we are sick.

Proper attention should be given to a any ailing parts of our bodies (Isa. 1:5-6). The goal is to keep the body fit, as much as possible, in order to fulfill the purpose for living, serve and glorify the Lord (Isa. 38:19).

OUTLINES BIBLICAL CLUE

Seeking medical attention should not be view as demonic, lack of faith or carnal.
Rather, there are scriptural prescriptions as well as contemporary medical interventions that do not just bring about quick relief but also save lives (Isa. 38:21). Ultimately, God heals (Ex.15:26).

The bible mentions various medical processes/treatments. For instance, people applied bandages and ointments to wounds (Isa.1:6), used oil and wine as healing agents (James 5:14; Lk. 10: 34; 1 Tim.5:23).

This does not mean that modern surgery or pharmaceuticals are not umbilical, only that, when the bible was written, those treatments had not yet been invented (Dan. 12:4; Isa.33:6).

THE RIGHT APPROACH

There are several provisions at the disposal to improve or correct our health.
Preventive healthy habits such as eating and sleeping well, drinking enough water, and doing regular exercises will steadily improve any person’s health.

Christians should not hesitate to visit or consult with the appropriate medical practitioners, when the needs arise. We should, however, avoid patronising quacks, magicians or witchdoctors (Lev. 19:31; Deut.18:10).

Maternal health-care is essential for pregnant women. Immunisation of children against strange diseases/epidemics should not be taken for granted.
It is good to participate in healthcare insurance plans.

However, our ultimate faith and trust should be in God and not in medical experts or medicine (Mk.5:25-26).

All medical processes/treatments should be committed unto God before, during and after. Physicians care, God heals. (Psalms 103:3; 7:20).

CONCLUSION: If we lack wisdom and let our bodies fall into disrepair,we risk sudden sickness or injury that can take us out of God’s purpose for living.

QUESTIONS:

1. What are the clues available for believers to care for their health?

2. Mention the right approaches.

15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.

16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

OPEN HEAVEN 12 JANUARY 2020 MESSAGE WITH HYMN, PRAYER POINTS, DAILY DECLARATIONS AND BIBLE READING

GOOD MORNING BELOVED, HAPPY SUNDAY

Years ago, I had some work to do at abroad. I finished three days ahead of schedule, but my flight booking was the kind that could not be changed, so I had to wait for the next three days.

I however had a challenge: I had run out of money but wanted to buy some books and tapes. So, I told God “Lord, it would be nice if I could get £50.” Before leaving, not too long, the phone rang.

Although it was a wrong number the fellow called, we got talking. When he discovered I was pastor Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, he called his brother and within the next few hours, they were at my place. When they were leaving, they gave me £50.

I said “Lord, if I had known it would be that easy to get £50, I would have asked for another £50.”

Shortly after that, I heard a knock on the door and when I got there, I met an envelope with £50 and a note from a rich man who had never given me anything before, saying “I just felt like giving you £50.”

So again I said “Lord, if I had known it would be this easy to get another £50, I would have asked for £50 more.” Before long, another £50 came and then I became afraid.

Recently, God reminded me of this story and told me “If I could provide £50 so easily, why didn’t you ask for £5,000,000” I realised then how I had seriously short-changed myself.

Oftentimes when you are celebrating the things that you have, God looks at you, wishing you had envisioned more.

I remember thanking God for the old auditorium and calling it a lifetime achievement. He shut me up and said “That is the children’s auditorium.”

Today, we are in a 3km by 3km auditorium by His grace and we are just starting. Beloved, no matter how blessed you are, God has more in store for you, if only your mind can believe it. 1st Corinthians 2:9 says:

“…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.

OPEN HEAVEN 12 JANUARY 2020 SING HYMN 18

HYMN 18: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE.

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

OPEN HEAVEN 12 JANUARY 2020 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOB 32-34

Job 32-34 King James Version (KJV)

Chapter 32

1 So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

2 Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

3 Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

4 Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.

5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

6 And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.

7 I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

10 Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.

11 Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

12 Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

13 Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

14 Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.

15 They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

16 When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

17 I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.

18 For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

19 Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

20 I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

21 Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

22 For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.

Chapter 33

1 Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

2 Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

3 My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

5 If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

6 Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

7 Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

8 Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

9 I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

10 Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

12 Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

20 So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

21 His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:

26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

27 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

29 Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,

30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

31 Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.

32 If thou hast anything to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.

33 If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

Chapter 34

1 Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

2 Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

3 For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

4 Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

5 For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

6 Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

7 What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

8 Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

9 For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

10 Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

11 For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

13 Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?

14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

17 Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

18 Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

20 In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

23 For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

25 Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

27 Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

29 When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

31 Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

33 Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.

34 Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
