Good Morning Beloved,

One of the things we should know and accept is that disputes will occur amongst us in the Body of Christ. This is because we are made up of different persons from different backgrounds with different levels of understanding.

In today’s Bible reading, Paul was worried about the believers in the church at Corinth who were taking their fellow believers to court. He wondered why they couldn’t settle.

Not only does it imply that there is no wise fellow in their family who can settle their disputes, it also opens the door for cultures that are not theirs to influence the way they live their lives, because the fellow whom they take their case to will judge it according to the culture he or she is familiar with. This is what happens when we charge our brethren to court.

If you have a dispute with a fellow member of the body of Christ, your case should be taken to the elders of your church for them to settle for you.

When you take the case to court, the verdict will not be based on the teachings of the scriptures, and the result is likely to affect your relationship with the person negatively.

Even judges sometimes advice brother to go home and settle their disputes within their family. The reason they do this is to avoid more severe issues within the family later.

I am not promising you that taking a case to the elders will guarantee that you are not cheated, but it will guarantee that you don’t spoil the Name of your heavenly Father.

Let your priorities be clear: God first before anything or anyone else. Always ask God for what He would like you to do before you make any move.

It is only when the other fellow has acted contrary to the lifestyle of a child of God, especially by ignoring the instructions of the elders, that you can then take him or her to law courts; Otherwise, even if you feel like you are being cheated, is better to keep your family Name intact than to take your family matters to be judged by outsiders.

Your determination to win will remain intact. Romans 8:37 says we are conquerors, in other words, no matter the battles we face, even if the opponent is a renowned conqueror, we will win. This alone should give you courage.

Step into that exam hall with confidence because you are more than a conqueror. Register for that scholar because you are more than conqueror. Go for that competition with confidence because you are more than a conqueror.

You must note that you are only more than a conqueror if God is your ally; you need to give your life to Him and always seek Hus guidance on how to tackle any obstacle on your way.

A decision is a conclusion or resolution reached after due consideration of a subject matter. Making decision is a routine process that is of vital importance in all human endeavours.

An individual’s level of success and achievements are usually the product of past decision and choices. Human beings make decisions and personal choices concerning what to eat, where to go, what to wear and who to relate with on a daily basis.

We also make decisions based on our personal preferences in the area of religion, education, vocation, fashion and marriage.

However, life often leads us to a point of decision where the choices before us have the potential of changing the course of our lives permanently for good or bad.

How a person handles such turning-point decisions goes a long way in determining the fulfillment of his or her destiny in life. Abraham’s response to God’s demand to offer his only son as burnt offering determined the course of his life (Genesis 22:2).

As a result of his obedient, Abraham received an irreversible blessing of eternal value (Genesis 22:16-17). Ruth also reached a point where she needed to make a critical decision, and the decision she took changed the course of her life for good forever.

She took a great decision to abandon her home in pursuit of the true God, saying in Ruth 1:16:

“…intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Through this decision, she became an ancestor of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As believers in Christ, we are privileged to have insight into God’s truth, as recorded in Scriptures or received through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. We must therefore be careful not to resist God’s will or rebel against His commandments in any way.

Many people resist God’s truth because of their own pride and self-centeredness. Some claim to be born again, but their true colour becomes exposed by their refusal to give up worldly pleasures and those things that are socially acceptable but contrary to God’s word.

There are others still who appear to be committed to God, but their heart is lured away from the ideas of Jesus Christ by anxieties, ambition and the gods of money, position and power.

The fact remains that God does not force commitment on anyone; we have the right to count the cost and carefully consider the implication before committing ourselves to Him in any way.

Any person’s decision to become born again is a life-long commitment of total submission to the will of God in holiness.

I decree that as you endeavor to walk in obedience to God, the Lord will manifest His power in every area of your life and cause your blessing to overflow Jesus’ Name.

Many people start well, but only a few end well. It is the end of that separated boys from men.

On matriculation day, students beam with smiles, but on graduation day, some will smile, some will cry and some will not even be present at all.

You may have put a lot of efforts into starting, if you relax along the way, all efforts at the beginning will be a waste.
If you are already getting good grades in school, don’t relax, put in more effort so that you can finish with flying colours.

If you are already doing well, don’t relax because until you get the gold, all your efforts will be a waste.

As a Christian, you may have overcome many temptations in the past, but the devil is now whispering to you that its okay to indulge in a little sin now, afterall, you have tried.

Don’t listen, he wants to destroy your end. Until you have made it to heaven, you have to keep running, no resting. The young prophet in (1 Kings 13:14-24) had a very good beginning, but stopping to rest cost him his life and destiny.

KEY POINT:
If you relax now, all the effort you have hitherto put in will be wasted.

Debt occur when something, usually money, is owed by one part (the borrower or debtor) to a second party (the lender or creditor) especially when it is becoming difficult to pay what is owed.

Debt is a common problem in our society, and debts have a way of growing faster than expected. Anyone who comes to the realisation that he or she has taken on too much debt, becomes uncomfortable.

The fear of the debtor may also overwhelm the debtor. It can also lead to psychological or emotional breakdown.

Although, the bible neither expressly forbids nor condones the borrowing of money, the wisdom of the bible teaches us that it is usually not a good idea to go into debt (Proverbs 22:7; 2Kings 4: 1-7).

SOME LIKELY CAUSES OF DEBT

Debt can occur through different means. Some of the likely causes are: Poor spending habits, mismanagement of resources (Luke 15: 11-13), lack of employment or underemployment (2Thessalonians3:12), medical challenges (Luke 8:43), failed business/reduction in income (Luke 5:5a), living outside your means (Proverbs 28:19), lack of contentment, gambling, covetousness (1Timothy 6:8-10), gambling, divorce/widowhood/single parenthood (2Kings 4:1), expanding families, unexpected emergencies, unfavorable economic factors or inflation (2Kings 6:25), impulse buying (Luke 15:13-14), lack of financial knowledge or poor investment (Proverbs 23:5), a misunderstanding of needs versus wants (Luke 15:13), laziness (2Thessalonians 3:10b), education cost fraud, etc.

HOW TO AVOID DEBT

In order to forestall going into debt, believers should do the following:

1. Honour God with your financial/material giving ( tithe, offerings, first fruits, etc) and also help the needy (Luke 6:38; Proverbs 3:9-10, 28:27; 1Corinthians 9:7).

2. Develop a saving culture (Proverbs 21:20).

3. Prepare a budget based on your actual monthly income and actual expenses (Luke 14:28).

4. Avoid unnecessary/discretionary spending. Do not spend compulsorily on what is not your primary need (Isaiah 55:2).

5. Do not be idle/lazy, find something doing (1Thessalonians 4:11; 2Thessalonians 3:10; Matthews 20:6; Proverbs 6:9-11).

6. Be satisfied with what you have and avoid covetousness (Proverbs 15:16; Hebrews 13:5; 1Timothy 6:6)

7. Seek financial counsel and invest wisely (Proverbs 11:14, 14:22).

Any believer who is already in debt should do the following in addition to the points raised above:

1. Pray for divine intervention, then seek wise and godly counsel (2Kings 4:1-7; Proverbs 24:6).

2. Commit to making changes to drastically reduce your lifestyle expenses (Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:5).

3. Negotiate with your creditors for a possible review of the payment plan (Luke 16:5-8).
