For those who belong to Jesus Christ, our understanding of family life should not be dictated by social media, TV or preconceived notions.

The word of God alone provides us the template we are to model our family and home upon. Unfortunately, a lot of people have deviated from the precepts of the Bible regarding the way things are done in their family.

In some families, children are wayward and parents don’t seem to be bothered about it. Some fathers are irresponsible men who go about chasing after strange women, while some mothers are unforgiving, bitter and overtime have become cold towards their husbands.

God definitely didn’t design homes to be like that! We therefore need to continuously work at building holy, godly and Christ-honouring homes. However, building a godly home requires conscious effort.

The devil doesn’t want such homes to exist, and so he puts distractions and bad examples everywhere to deter us from building our homes the way God designed it to be. The good news is, with God, all things are possible to us who believe.

How then do we build godly homes? Psalm 34:11 says:

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Parents must teach their children to fear the Lord, because the fear of God is a compass that guides families into making the right decisions and choices in life.

To fear the Lord is to acknowledge and reverence Him at all times. A family that does not fear God will not serve Him.

A godly home requires a life of separation from the dictates of worldly norms. Although others might be doing wrong things, you can’t and won’t do them because you are peculiar unto God.

Everyday Christian families have to draw the line and separate themselves from the increasing sinfulness and wickedness of this world.

Parents have to continuously remind their children that they are in the world and not of the world, and so they are never to behave like the children of the world. I pray that all our homes will become godly homes in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 7 OCTOBER 2019 ACTION POINT:

Let your children always know that your family stands for Jesus Christ in all things.

OPEN HEAVEN 7 OCTOBER 2019 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 CHRONICLES 16-17, REVELATION 2:18-3:6

1 Chronicles 16 King James Version (KJV)

1 So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.

4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel:

5 Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

6 Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

19 When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.

25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

28 Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.

32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

36 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord.

37 So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:

38 And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:

39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon,

40 To offer burnt offerings unto the Lord upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel;

41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever;

42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

43 And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

1 Chronicles 17 King James Version (KJV)

1 Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord remaineth under curtains.

2 Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

3 And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

4 Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

5 For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

6 Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?

7 Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

8 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

9 Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

10 And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the Lord will build thee an house.

11 And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.

13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

16 And David the king came and sat before the Lord, and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

17 And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Lord God.

18 What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

19 O Lord, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

20 O Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

21 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

22 For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, Lord, becamest their God.

23 Therefore now, Lord, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The Lordof hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

26 And now, Lord, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O Lord, and it shall be blessed for ever.

REVELATION 2:18-3:6 KJV

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 And I will give him the morning star.

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Chapter 3

1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

LESSON ONE
TOPIC: What is glory?

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalms 8.5 – “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”

BIBLE TEXT: Exodus 24:16-18

16.And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day He called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

17.And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

18.And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

STUDY GUIDE:
1) What is glory? Read the following bible passages, John 1:14, Psalm 63:2, Exodus.33:18, Psalm 96:8

Purpose of His glory

(i) To let the whole world know Him as God. Numbers 14:21

(ii) To bring praises to His Holy name. Psalm 150:6, Psalm 105:3

(iii) That is the main reason why we were created. Psalm 100

(iv) John 2:11, Exodus 40:34, John 11:4

(v) Numbers 14:21-23

(vi) Luke 10:33

(vii) Psalm 106:20

LIFE APPLICATION: Overall, the glory of God is used in a variety of ways in scripture. It can refer to God’s greatness, His honour, His beauty, His power and His light.

In every case, the glory of God acknowledges the Lord’s supreme strength and our need to both acknowledge and serve Him. It is very important that you should hid yourself, family in His glory as you grow in His glory.

CONCLUSION: The glory of God is not just a feeling, an event or an old testament experience – it is a Spiritual experience of everything contained in the character of God. It has been called the manifested presence of God but more than just a presence of its power.

The kind of power that resurrects, delivers, overcomes and transforms. It is greater and stronger than any other power in existence.

LESSON TWO
TOPIC: IMPORTANCE OF GLORY

MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40.5 – “And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”

BIBLE TEXT: John 2.11
“This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.”

14.……………………..Daniel 4:37
15.……………………..Mark 5:18-19

LIFE APPLICATION: God’s glory is so important that a life without His glory is empty and short lived.

CONCLUSION: God and glory are one individual being. Without God
there can never be manifestation of glory. God seeks to build trusting faith in us so He can be glorified through us. As our trust in God and knowledge of God increases we become free to express and reflect His glory outwardly. It truly comes by His grace and love working inside us.

LESSON THREE
TOPIC: GOD OF GLORY

MEMORY VERSE:
1 Corintheans 1:31 – “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.”

BIBLE TEXT: Job 11:1-20
“1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
3 Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
5 But oh that God would speak, and open His lips against thee;
6 And that He would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 If He cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder Him?
11 For He knoweth vain men: He seeth wickedness also; will He not then consider it?
12 For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass’s colt.
13 If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward Him;
14 If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
17 And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the host.”

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

STUDY GUIDE:
A. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit to His disciples with these words:
– when the Spirit of Truth comes
– He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears.
– He will also declare to you what is to come. – John 16:13

LIFE APPLICATION: The Holy Spirit is the power of every believer. Peter is the proof of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. He was a very close follower of Jesus yet afraid that he denied Him, but as soon as he received the Holy Spirit, he became very bold. For you to live a victorious Christian life you need the Holy Spirit.

CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit plays a key role in the Acts of apostles; without the Holy Spirit, it will be practically difficult for any believer to progress in the work of ministry.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 3:3-14
3. And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6. And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10. And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

INTRODUCTION: The word “provoke” is used variously in English language, however, the dictionary states that ‘to stir up, incite or arouse’. This simply means that something in your life needs particular things to stir it up before it can roll into action. Every harvest, for example, even in the spiritual is stirred up by the process of sowing.

MEMORY VERSE: And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: 1 Kings 2:3

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Kings 3:3-14

SUMMARY: God’s Blessing is priceless but it comes with a price

CONCLUSION: “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22. There are many ways that may accelerate or fast track God’s blessings. Complete obedience to the instructions of God is one of them. The very first miracle of Jesus at the Marriage at Cana of Galilee was largely because of the servants’ obedience to Jesus instructions. Without my being blest?

MEMORY VERSE:

“For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day”. — Exodus 32:29

BIBLE PASSAGE: Romans 12:1-2

Romans:12.1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your reasonable service.
Romans:12.2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

INTRODUCTION:

Consecration is a process or practice of making something or someone sacred, dedicated and set apart for the Lord. Consecration also carries the connotation of sanctification, holiness, or purity.

Being consecrated is a critical component in our relationship to God and to those in the world (Romans 12:1-2). Consecration is also a devotion to the worship or service of God which can occur through God (Numbers 3:12), a higher spiritual authority (Exodus 28:41) or self (Exodus 32:29). Consecration as Christian duties involves three ideas; separation from evil, devotion to God and ceaseless pursuit of holiness in heart and life.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. Instances of consecration
2. Benefits of consecration

INSTANCES OF CONSECRATION

There are instances of those called to consecration in the Bible. God asked Moses to consecrate Aaron and his sons yo His service as priests (Exodus 28:41). In Numbers 3:12, God consecrated the Levites to Himself. He did the same for Jeremiah even before he was born (Jeremiah 1:5). Samuel was consecrated (1Samuel 1:27-28). Prophet Samuel also consecrated Jesse and his sons (1Samuel 16:5).
The Levites were instructed to consecrate themselves to the Lord and be blessed (Exodus 32:29). Jesus Christ ordained and sent forth twelve disciples (Mark 3:14). Paul and Barnabas were consecrated for a special assignment (Acts 13:2-3). The consecration of John the Baptist was declared by an angel (Luke 1:13-16).
The call to personal consecration demands that one presents himself wholly to God (Romans 12:1-2; Chronicles 17:16) and be willing to purge himself of all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit (2Timothy 2:21; 2Corinthians 7:1). This is made possible through absolute compliance with divine instructions given by God in His word (John 17:17; Psalm 119:9; Ephesians 5:26). The act of “putting-off” the old man and “putting-on” the new man illustrates the consecration expected of all believers (Colossians 3:5-14).

BENEFITS OF CONSECRATION

A clear benefit of being consecrated or pure in our relationship with God is as illustrated in Joshua 3:5. Sin is defilement (Psalm 51:2,7), and we have to be cleansed before we can truly follow God (Leviticus 20:7). Other benefits of concentration include: overflowing blessing (Exodus 32:29), overflowing anointing (Hebrews 1:9; Acts 10:38), becoming a chosen vessel of God (2Timothy 2:21; Acts 9:15), outstanding victory without a fight (Proverbs 16:17; 2Chronicles 20:15-19), ever abiding presence of God (Psalm 91:1-2; Joshua 3:1-5), freedom from condemnation (Romans 8:1-2), confidence in prayer (1John 3:21-22), spiritual power (Romans 1:1-4), father-child relationship (2Corinthians 6:14-18), a walk with God unto all pleasing (Colossians 1:10).

CONCLUSION
Every believer that will genuinely walk with God and reign with Him eternally must yield to the call to consecration (Isaiah 52:11).

QUESTIONS
1. Identify four instances of consecration in the Bible.
2. State four benefits of being consecration

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 6 OCTOBER 2019

THEME: GOD AND RELATIONSHIPS 1: RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

MEMORISE: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

Read: Matthew 22:37-38

37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38. This is the first and great commandment.

MESSAGE:

Our God is a family man. When Jesus was teaching the disciples to pray, He said they were to start with “Our Father”. He could have started with “Our God” or “Our Creator” and still be correct, but He started with “Our Father”.

This shows that God prefers to be referred to as our Father. He prefers to have a Father-child relationship with us, not a request-answer relationship. Some people only speak to God when they have a request.

If only they knew what they were missing by relating with Him this way.
If you have a neighbor, and you go to him to ask for sugar today, tomorrow, you ask for milk, the day after, you ask for beverage, the next day when you come to ask for bread, he will tell you he foes not have.

But if you simply go to visit your neighbor, you tell him that you just came to spend time with him. Before you leave, he will entertain you with bread and butter with tea.

There I’d a whole lot more to get from God when we relate with Him first as our Father before we do as our provider.

ACTION POINT:
Spend some time just worshipping God today, don’t ask for anything, just worship Him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Isaiah 34-36, Philippians 2

Hymn 7.

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 SUNDAY OVERFLOWING LOVE

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 MEMORISE: Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. – (Romans 13:10)

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 READ: LUKE 6:27-36 (KJV)

27. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest; for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 MESSAGE SUNDAY WITH HYMN, PRAYER POINTS AND DAILY DECLARATIONS

Good Morning Beloved,

When you consider the reason why God overthrew the world by the flood, you will realise that it is His overflowing love that has preserved our world till now.

If God were to apply to our world the same standard He applied to Sodom and Gomorrah, it would have been destroyed by now.

Instead of judging the world, God’s overflowing love has provided a means of escape from His judgment to all those who are willing to accept it. John 3:16 says;

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is the kind of love that God expects us to manifest towards other human beings, most especially those in the household of faith (1 John 3:15-16)

In today’s Bible reading, the Lord commands us to show overflowing love not only to our loved ones but even to our enemies (Luke 6:27-28). According to Romans 13:10, love is the fulfilling of the law.

Our Lord Himself established this truth when a young lawyer came to cross-examine Him on which commandment of the law was the greatest (Matthew 22:35-40).

Jesus answered him by simple summarizing the whole of the law this way: love for God and love for our neighbours. In Matthew 22:40, He emphatically said:

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Beloved, are you really godly? Remember that only the godly will make it to heaven. The character of those who are godly is love: God’s own type of love which overflows. For our love to overflow like His, we must love even those who despitefully use us. In Matthew 5:45, our Lord says:

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

This appropriately describes what God’s overflowing love looks like. For our preaching to be effective to sinners who don’t know the real meaning of love, we must convey our message practically through a life of overflowing love. Let us give heed to the Holy Spirit’s message to us in (1 John 3:18), which says;

My little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Are you demonstrating love in deed and in truth?

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 ACTION POINT:

Where is the love of God in you when your brother is in need and you close your eyes of compassion to him? Think about this and repent.

OPEN HEAVEN 6 OCTOBER 2019 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 CHRONICLES 13-15; REVELATION 2:1-17

1 Chronicles 13-15 King James Version (KJV)

Chapter 13

1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.

4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

11 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.

12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?

13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

Chapter 14

1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.

2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

3 And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.

4 Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.

9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

10 And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lordsaid unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.

11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.

12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

14 Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

Chapter 15

1 And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

3 And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lordunto his place, which he had prepared for it.

4 And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:

5 Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:

6 Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:

7 Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brethren an hundred and thirty:

8 Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:

9 Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:

10 Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.

11 And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LordGod of Israel.

15 And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord.

16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

18 And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.

19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

24 And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy.

26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

Revelation 2:1-17 King James Version (KJV)

2 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
