God is very busy, but busy as He is, He is incapable of forgetting anything and anyone. So though it may seem sometimes like He dies not have you in mind, don’t worry, He has not forgotten you. It is only your test period, and God is always quiet during such periods. Also Read – Open Heavens 10 July 2019

Abraham, for example, walked for three days to the mountain where he was to bury Isaac, in the way, he must have asked God if He was still interested in Isaac’s blood, but God kept quiet because it was Abraham’s test period.

Has God made any promise to you and it seems like Hr has forgotten? Don’t worry, He has not forgotten. All you have to do is ensure that you continue to do His will; you don’t know which of the wills will unlock the promise. Imagine if Abraham, out of frustration, did not host those angels that day?

After Cain murdered Abel his brother, a mark was placed on him, which illustrates the bad identity that sin gives. Genesis 4:15 says:

“And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.”

Nobody knows the nature of the mark that was placed on Cain; all we know is that it was meant to identify Cain so that those who met him would not kill him.

Some Bible scholars suggest that this mark was given to ensure that Cain did not die cheaply, thereby preventing him from receiving a full does of the penalty of his sin. Irrespective of the nature or purpose of this mark, one thing is certain: Cain’s sin gave him a bad identity on the whole earth.

From today’s memory verse we understand that sin puts the mark of the devil’s ownership upon every sinner. Revelation 22:15 further reveals that in God’s sight, a sinner has the identity of a stray dog.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 10 JULY 2019 DEVOTIONAL

Stray dogs are seen outside and are known to be dirty, promiscuous and aggressive. Sin is so terrible that it deforms the image of a person created in God’s image to the level of a dog!

No wonder we see the people of this world manifesting the characteristics of dogs today. It is because their minds have been deformed by sin, so they are just manifesting the nature of the image they now possess in them.

Some have even gone so low to indulge in unspeakable acts. Sin really leaves a terrible identity on anyone who yields to its control.

Are you caught in the web of sin? Has sin warped your mind so terribly? Is your life overshadowed by the bad identity given by sin? I have good news for you today: no matter how horrible the identity sin has placed on you is, Jesus Christ can remove it today with His blood.

All you need to do is to surrender your life to Him as He calls all people to reconcile with God the Father through genuine repentance. When you do this, He will give you a brand new identity (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).

Have you been saved by grace? Never return to your vomit of sin like a dog would (2 Peter 2:21-22). Sin will deform your new identity in Christ and change your standing with God. Is that sinful act really worth that much to you?

Can the pleasure you derive from it compare to the joy of your salvation and the hope of glory you have in Christ Jesus? Don’t listen to the devil when he says that it doesn’t matter and that no consequence will follow an act of sin. It’s all a lie! Sin does give a bad identity, so run away from it.

MESSAGE:

As Christian teenagers, you are to be nice and friendly, however, there are certain offers that you must stand your ground and say no to.

You shield say no to any sinful offer or anything that bears even a little resemblance to sin. The Bible says flee every appearance of evil. Immediately a sinful offer comes to you, say no.

Also, there are certain friendships you must refuse to accept. As a young girl, is that boy pressuring you for sex? Are those boys encouraging you to smoke and do drugs?

Are you getting invitations to night parties and clubs? Are being advised to cheat in the exam hall? Is someone recommending a pornographic film to you? Your answer to all these and their likes must be a big ‘NO’.

PRAYER POINT:
Led, give me the grace to say ‘NO’ to the devil at all times.

1. All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

2. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

3. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Food is a very important of our existence as human beings. Even before God created man, He had created the things that Adam and Eve would eat.

From this we see that eating food is not ungodly. In fact, as part of God’s instructions to Adam, He told him what was available for him to eat. Genesis 2:16 says:

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:”

Nevertheless, man’s existence does not depend solely on food. Adam and Eve failed to realize this when the temper came to dangle the forbidden fruit before them and they fell headlong for it.

No wonder the Lord took the Israelites through the rigours of the wilderness for forty years, to teach them that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of His mouth.

This lesson is so critical that even the first test Jesus faced in the wilderness of temptation was based on it (Matthew 4:1-4). All this happened so we can learn from it.

Amazingly, although food may appear basic and ordinary, it can lead to a man’s downfall. A good example of this is Esau, who sold his birthright for a plate of pottage (Genesis 25:29-34).

We must therefore open ears to learn from the Holy Spirit when He speaks to us on food. In Deuteronomy 8:3, He says man shall not live by bread alone.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 9 JULY 2019 TUESDAY

In other words, bread is part of the things that man needs to live, but this bread must come by a process that follows the pattern of God’s word and meets its standards.

This is why Jesus Christ refused to turn stone into bread when the devil asked him to (Luke 4:3-4).

He showed us that food is good but it must follow the dictates of God’s word and not be influenced by the devil’s suggestions. Thank God that the Second Adam overcame the mistakes of the first Adam.

Many Christians have shipwrecked their faith because of food and drink, failing to heed the Lord’s warning in Matthew 6:25, which says:

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”

Of course, the answer to the Lord’s question is obvious: life is more than meat. This is why it is foolishness to eat the food of death, since the essence of food is to keep us alive in the first place.

We must not live by bread alone. In all we do, we must continually look out for the perfect will of God and avoid anything that will send us to hell. May the Lord grant you understanding of this in Jesus’ Name.

Whenever God counts an individual worthy to have custody of His possession, the fellow should be careful of what he or she does with it. For this reason, through His word, God teaches us how to handle children as precious seeds kept in our care.

One of His teachings on this all-important subject matter is found in our memory verse, where the Lord says we must train our children in His ways, not according to any other system.

Today’s Bible reading reveals the danger of not taking godly care of our children. As upright as Samuel was, he failed in the area of bringing up his children in the ways of the Lord. Concerning his sons, (1 Samuel 8:3) says:

“And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgement.”

The surprising aspect of the story is that Samuel witnessed how Eli and his household were cut off because Eli did not nurture his children in the ways of the Lord.

Beloved, it is better a person does not bear a child than to have a child and fall to take godly care of him or her. Eli’s example shows that a heavy price accompanies failure in this regard.

The story was told of a mother who immersed herself into training her son to succeed academically and career-wise, but she neglected training in the fear of God and did not expose him to spiritual activities that could connect him to God.

Meanwhile, the son progressed at school, graduated with good grades, and eventually got a good job in the city. Having tasted life in the city, he forgot his roots and did not keep in touch with his mother.

One day, his mother decided to visit him in the city, having missed her son for a long time. When she got to her son’s house, she met the gate securely locked.

She knocked for a long while before her son managed to open the window of his front room, and behold, it was his mother sweating in the African sun. “Mum, you did not tell me you were coming!” the young man yelled. He then threw a wad of cash at her and told her to go back to the village.

This woman wept bitterly. How sad! This is what the wages of nursing a child for ourselves and not for God looks like. I pray that this will not be your portion as a parent in Jesus’ Name.

23 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ever:

4 Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

5 Nevertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.

10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:

11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it?

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
