OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS 24 JUNE 2019

THEME: THOSE TO AVOID

MEMORISE: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:Proverbs 22:24

Read: Proverbs 22:24-25
24. Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25. Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

MESSAGE:

God asked us to love everyone, but He never
said we should make everyone our friend. In fact, Psalm 1:1 says there are certain people that we should not stand, walk or sit with. This is why you have to be very careful who you make your friends. Even though I know many people around the world, I have less than ten friends. Also Read – Open Heavens 24 June 2019

You teenagers are very quick to make friends, this may not be bad in itself, but it is dangerous to make people your friends to quickly. You need to be watchful of those you call friends.

If you notice that someone you just met always makes sinful suggestions, it doesn’t matter how much you like the person’s company, stay very far from him/her.

If someone you just met seem good, but AHS bad friends, do kit make such an person your friend because it is only a matter of time before he/she introduces you to his/her bad friends too. Also Read – Prayer Points on Today’s open heavens 24th June 2019

If your friend always gets angry with you and makes you feel bad about yourself, tampering with your self esteem in the process, unfriendly him/her immediately. Your friends must have your best interests at heart at all times.

PRAYER POINT:
Oh Lord, give me the grace to avoid the bad friends that I walk with.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Job 1-3, Acts 7:1-19

Hymn 16
1. Christian, seek not yet repose
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

2. Principalities and power
Mustering their unseen array
Wait for the unguarded hours:
Watch and pray

3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou loves to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

6. Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 SUNDAY – THE UNMOVABLE GENERATION

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 MEMORISE:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; – Ephesians 4:14.

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 READ: 2 Peter 2:1-9 (KJV)

1. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you; whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

4. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

5. And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

6. And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

7. And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked;

8. (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

9. The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished;

As foretold by the Holy Spirit, the Christian life is under a barrage of attacks by the enemy in this last days.

He is sowing seeds of confusion in the heart of many through conflicting interpretation of the Bible, and no doctrine of the Christian faith is spared in this onslaught.

In spite of this, I encourage you to remain rooted in Christ. All these things happening now need to happen in fulfillment of God’s word and points to Christ imminent return. Read – Prayer Points On Open Heavens 22 June 2019

Unfortunately, those who are not grounded in God’s word and whose faith is not founded on a personal revelation of Jesus Christ are easily falling away into error and apostasy.

The Holy spirit already told us of this falling away in (2 Thessalonians 2:3), saying:

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except their come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”;

You therefore need to be settled in your convictions, steadfast in your faith and established in the word of God.

Like a ship in a storm that is solidly anchored, you must be unmovable by the external forces that will try to shipwreck your faith (Hebrews 6:19). Read – Daily Declarations Saturday 22 June 2019

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 SUNDAY

Even though the winds may blow strongly against it, such a ship would not be removed from its position because it is anchored on solid ground.

Let the hope of seeing Christ in glory someday be the anchor of your soul. Let all that this world has to offer grow dim in the light of what Christ has in store for you.

Embrace and be comforted by the words of the Holy Spirit in (1 Corinthians 15:58), which says:

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”.

To be unmovable means that no matter what the devil does, the solid foundation of your faith, which is built in the word of God, will hold things together such that you cannot be moved.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Indeed, we must not allow ourselves to be moved away from what is right. Colossians 2:6-7 says:

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stabilized in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”

There are constantly new forces, new inventions and new innovations which will always seek to push a Christian off course. You must be unmovable in the face of such attacks.

The Christian’s anchor is his faith and hope in the power of God. You must be unwavering in your dedication to Christ and His kingdom.

I pray that you will play a leading role in the move of God to raise an army of unmovable Christians to the glory of His Holy Name, in Jesus Mighty Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JUNE 2019 HYMNAL:
Hymn 17 – Hold the fort

1. Ho! my comrades, see the signal,
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory in nigh!

CHORUS:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will,”

2. See the mighty host advancing
Satan leading on:
Mighty men around us falling,
Courage almost gone!

CHORUS:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will,”

3. See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s name we’ll triumph
Over ev’ry foe!

CHORUS:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will,”

4. Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near:
Onward comes our great commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!

CHORUS:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will,”

Numbers 28-29 King James Version (KJV)

28 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.

3 And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the Lord; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.

4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;

5 And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meat offering, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil.

6 It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord.

7 And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the Lord for a drink offering.

8 And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.

9 And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:

10 This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

40 And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the Lord commanded Moses.

EZEKIEL 1:22-2:7 KJV

22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 – BOWELS OF MERCIES

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 MEMORISE:
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. – 1 John 3:16.

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 READ: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (KJV)

19. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21. To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

23. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Mercy is a concrete expression of compassion and love. It means to have pity or to feel concern out of sympathy for someone.

Mercy is part of God’s core nature, and it defines that character in Him by which He faithfully keeps His covenant, fulfils His promises, and maintains His relationship with His children, despite our shortcomings, unworthiness and unfaithfulness (Exodus 34:6-7).

This is very well explained in Romans 9:15-16, which says;

“I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”.

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 MONDAY

Mercy connotes lovingkindness, goodness, grace, favour and steadfast love.

The most prominent aspect of mercy is the compassionate disposition to forgive an offender, coupled with finding a way to help the offender out of his or her sorry situation. Read – Open Heavens 23 June 2019

These qualities make it possible to lovingly correct fellow Christians who fall into error, instead of passing hostile judgment on them. Here is how the Holy Spirit commands us to deal with each other in Ephesians 4:2-3;

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, for bearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”.

Furthermore, while identifying the qualities that the Body of Christ must have, mercy and kindness are prominent on that list. He says in Colossians 3:12;

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved. Bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”

God designed mercy to be an essential part of the Christian community, because it reveals the state of our heart.

It is an intense inner feeling that usually manifests itself as compassionate acts of love and kindness.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 DAILY DEVOTIONAL

We are recipients of God’s mercy through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we live our lives in daily anticipation of new mercies from God.

The consistent new outpouring of God’s mercy is the seal of God’s love for His children (Lamentations 3:22-23).

In response to past, present and future gifts of God’s mercy, we also must be channels of divine mercy both within the Church and out there in the world (Jude 1:21-22).

The Bible teaches us to take up the responsibility of showing mercy through the help ministry and assisting the less privileged (1 Corinthians 12:28).

Charitable giving is a proper response to God’s mercy and a mark of genuine spirituality.

I pray that you will be a candidate for God’s mercy and a dispenser of it, in Jesus’ Name.

Thank you for reading today’s open heavens devotional, see you here tomorrow. God bless you!

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 PRAYER POINT:

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JUNE 2019 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: NUMBERS 30-31, EZEKIEL 2:8-3:15

Numbers 30-31 King James Version (KJV)

30 And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded.

2 If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the Lord, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;

4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the Lord shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul;

7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.

8 But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the Lord shall forgive her.

9 But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her.

10 And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;

11 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.

12 But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the Lord shall forgive her.

13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.

14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.

15 But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.

16 These are the statutes, which the Lordcommanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.

31 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the Lord of Midian.

4 Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

5 So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.

7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

9 And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.

11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.

12 And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.

13 And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

14 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.

15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.

17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

19 And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.

20 And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.

21 And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lordcommanded Moses;

22 Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23 Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.

24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

25 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

26 Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:

27 And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:

28 And levy a tribute unto the Lord of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:

29 Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for an heave offering of the Lord.

30 And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.

31 And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.

32 And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,

33 And threescore and twelve thousand beeves,

34 And threescore and one thousand asses,

35 And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him.

36 And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred sheep:

37 And the Lord’S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.

38 And the beeves were thirty and six thousand; of which the Lord’S tribute was threescore and twelve.

39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which the Lord’S tribute was threescore and one.

40 And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the Lord’S tribute was thirty and two persons.

41 And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord’S heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses.

42 And of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided from the men that warred,

43 (Now the half that pertained unto the congregation was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,

44 And thirty and six thousand beeves,

45 And thirty thousand asses and five hundred,

46 And sixteen thousand persons;)

47 Even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord; as the Lord commanded Moses.

48 And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:

49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

50 We have therefore brought an oblation for the Lord, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.

51 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the Lord, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

53 (For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)

54 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.

EZEKIEL 2:8-3:15 KJV (King James Version)

8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

3 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place.

13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.

15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Every military commander tries to find out as much of the enemy as possible. This is why he always sends to collect information about the enemy (Numbers 13:17; Joshua 2:1). Similarly, knowledge of our adversary is very precious to us since we too are engaged in life long battle with the devil. That enemy (adversary) is Satan or the devil.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. HIS NAMES AND TITLES
2. HIS ACTIVITIES

OUTLINE 1:HIS NAMES AND TITLES
Satan, formerly known as Lucifer, was a principal angel in Heaven, until he rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven alongside his angels (demons) that rebelled with him (Isaiah 14:12-15; Rev. 12:4&9).

Satan is a real personality. He has names, titles and highly organized system of demons. Among his numerous titles is, ‘the tempter’ (Matt. 4:3). God is not a tempter and can never be (James 1:13). Satan is the tempter and has always been.

Satan is also called the prince of the devils (Matt. 9:34). He is the prince of this world (John 14:30), though a prince of sorrow and destruction, a prince of war, hatred, evil and abomination (John 10:10a). Satan is also called the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4). That is why the Lord warns us not to love the world or the things that are in the world (1 John 2:15-17). Read – Open Heavens 23 June 2019

Satan is also described as a murderer, liar and father of lies (John 8:44). Therefore, you must never listen to him or believe whatsoever he says. Being a deceiver, it is not unusual for Satan to pretend to be a holy angel (2 Cor. 11:14).

Actually, he is a killer who is always on the lookout for prey (1 Peter 5:8). The Bible also refers to Satan as the “great dragon”, “old serpent” (Rev. 12:9), “accuser of brethren” (Rev. 12:10) and the “wicked one” (Matt. 13:19; 1 John 5:18).

HIS ACTIVITIES
The great aim of Satan is to deceive the whole world and win them to his side (Rev. 12:9). Therefore, he tries desperately to blind the mind of sinners so that they will not be able to receive the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:3-4).

He knows that, once the light of Word shines into their hearts, they will discover that he is a liar (John 1:9; Acts 13:47). Therefore, he steals the Word of God from them so that they might not believe and be saved (Luke 8:12). Hence, if you forget the Scriptures readily, you better watch out. Also Read – Open Heavens 24 June 2019

Satan is also busy accusing believers before God, day and night (Rev. 12:10). However thank God, we also have a lawyer in Heaven pleading our cases before the Father (1 John 2:1; 1 Tim. 2:5). As long as we remain loyal to Christ, the devil cannot prevail against us (Rom. 8:37-39; 1 John 4:4).

Christ has given us the powers and authority to overcome Satan (Luke 10:19; Rev. 12:11). We must, therefore, submit ourselves to God, never give place to the devil but resist the him steadfastly by faith and proclaim our victory over Satan (Eph. 4:27; James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:9).

CONCLUSION: Every child of God must know about the tricks of the devil and resist him with the whole armor of God. (Eph. 6:11).

QUESTIONS
1. Mention and explain 4 names and title of the enemy.
2. Describe the activities of the enemy.

For Further Reading: Ephesians 2:2; Acts 26:18; 2 Peter 1:19; Colossians 1:12-13; Matthew 13:39.

15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Psalms 71:18
Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

INTRODUCTION: Old age is a grace from God according to Ps. 91:16 “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation”. God also promised us old age in Exodus 20:12; It is however dependent upon you honouring your father and mother; “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

Attainment of old age is the desire of ever I mortal being; it connotes running a full course of life’s journey. Nobody prays for premature death but to be full of days or old age. Old age is the period where death can come anytime because it is the Night Time.

MEMORY VERSE: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.Isaiah 46:4
