OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TEENS 10 JUNE 2019

THEME: NO MORE COMPROMISE

MEMORISE: My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.Proverbs 1:10

Read: Daniel 3:12-18
12. There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13. Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15. Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

MESSAGE:

Besides loving righteousness and hating evil, the righteous are identified by their zero tolerance for compromise. During hard and trying times, some Christians use the situation as excuse for compromising their faith, the righteous happily as opportunities to stand up for Jesus. Job 17:9 says:

*”The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.”*

The righteous prefer to lose anything than to compromise their faith. In Daniel 3, the three Hebrew children stood tall for God. When their colleagues bowed to the golden image out of fear, they told the king, O king, we respect you, but we choose to die by fire than to bow before any lifeless image and sin to our God (Paraphrased). Also Read – Open Heavens 10th June 2019 Monday

God watches with the keen interest whenever His children are asked to compromise. A compromising Christian is like a cloud without rain, or candle without flame. The fellow has lost his worth.

Standing up for Jesus adds value to your faith and gives you respect before God, demon and men. Make up your mind to stop disappointing Jesus by compromising God’s standard for your life. The friends of some people don’t even know that they are Christians. Also Read – Open Heavens 11 June 2019

Hymn 11
1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.

3. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.

4. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.

A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.

Read: Luke 11:5-10
5. And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6. For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

MESSAGE:

When Elisha cried out to God in 2 Kings 2:14, river Jordan parted for him as soon as he smote the waters. You must realize that his cry was out of distress, he was desperate.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 120:1:

*”In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and He heard me.”*
God attends to distress calls and He answers the desperate. Elisha’s outburst was out of desperation and he had every reason to be desperate.

Check out erstwhile blond Bartimaeus or the paralytic that was lowered through the roof to meet Jesus. In both cases, the Lord had to suspend what He was doing in order to attend to them. Also Read – Open Heavens 9 June 2019

How desperate are you? Several millions or even billions of people pray to God daily, but very few call out to Him in desperation. Some don’t pray like God is their only option, some don’t pray like they have total trust in God and have no other place to go if God does not answer.

This season, the Lord will create a way for you to go through. You are coming out of that fix! Call on Him now, call out of desperation and He will answer you.

KEY POINT:
According to Matthew 11:12, there are certain spiritual blessings that may never be obtained except through spiritual violence. How desperate are you?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Chronicles 29-31, John 18:1-23

Hymn 16
1. Christian, seek not yet repose
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

2. Principalities and power
Mustering their unseen array
Wait for the unguarded hours:
Watch and pray

3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou loves to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

6. Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.

2 LESSON OUTLINES
LESSON OUTLINE 1:
FINGER OF MIRACLES AND WAR

A. GOD’S FINGERS FOR MIRACLES

Jesus, God in man, touched several people in His earthly ministry and did several miracles through the touch. For instance:
i. He touched the coffin bearing the corpse of the son of man and the young man arose. Luke 7:11-16. Also Read – Open Heaven 9 June 2019

ii. He was requested to lay hand on the sick Jairus daughter. He took the damsel and she arose. Mark 5:22-23, 41-42.

iii. He touched the blind and he recovered. John 9:6-7.

iv. He touched the leper and he was cleansed. Mark 1:40-42.

In the above cases and others, his touch restored to those who were sorrowful.

B. GOD’S FINGERS FOR WAR

i. God is a man of war. Exodus 15:3-4.

ii. Through his mighty hand on the rod of Moses, the red sea divided to save Israelites and sooner to destroy the Egyptians. Exodus 14:16, 19, 26-28.

iii. Jesus overthrew the tables of money changers, the seats of dove’s sellers and those who wanted to turn the temple to the den of thieves. He cast out the merchants and thereby cleansed the temples. Matt. 21:12-13; Mark 11:15-18.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:
Mention some wars which God fought in the Bible.

LESSON OUTLINE 2::
BE A BENEFICIARY AND NOT A VICTIM
A. BE A BENERICIARY

i. Believers can and should be victorious through the finger of God because God has taught our hands to war and our fingers to fight. Psalm 144:1; 2 Sam. 22:35.

ii. God’s fingers can turn the enemies’ weapons (meant to attack believers) back to the senders or to frustrations. 2 Chron. 20:22-23; Isaiah 49:25; 54:17.

iii. To enjoy the miracles of God, you must be on the side of God, be sanctified and obedient. Dan. 6:19-22; Acts 12:6-7.

B. DO NOT BE A VICTIM
i. To be victim of God’s finger is very simple. All you need to do is to declare yourself as his enemy by disobeying his commandments or commit sin.
ii. Three thousand men decided not be on God’s side and they died by sword just in one day. Exodus 32:26-28.
iii. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb. 10:31. Do not be a victim of God’s finger. Num. 16:30-33; Dan. 6:24. Also Read – Open Heaven 10 June 2019

LESSON OUTLINES

1. FINGER OF MIRACLES AND WAR
2. BE A BENEFICIARY, NOT A VICTIM

FINGER OF MIRACLES AND WAR
Jesus, as God in human form, touched several people to give healing, deliverance and expected miracles during His earthly ministry.

Through His finger, He brought comfort to many in sorrow (Luke 7:11-16; Mark 5:22-23, 41-42).

He performed many other miracles with His fingers (John 9:6-7; Mark 1:40-42).

God is also a man of war (Exodus 15:3-4).
While He delivered the Israelites through the hand of Moses, He destroyed the Egyptians in the same Red Sea (Exodus 14:16, 19, 26-28).

Jesus declared war against the people that turned the house of God into a ‘shopping mall’ (Matthew 21:11-13).

BE A BENEFICIARY, NOT A VICTIM

You can be victorious through the finger of God or be a victim. The Bible tells us that God teaches our hands to war and our fingers to fight (Psalm 144:1; 2 Sam. 22:35).

God’s fingers can turn the weapons of the enemy targeted against His children back to the sender or to frustration (2 Chron. 20:22-23; Isaiah 49:25; 54:17).

All the diverse miracles enjoyed by the people in the Bible through the finger of God can also be your portion provided you are on the side of God.

You must be genuinely born again, sanctified and obedient to benefit from the manifestations of the finger of God (Dan. 6:19-22; Acts 12:6-7). Also Read – Open Heavens 10 June 2019

However, anyone who refuses to be on the side of God becomes His enemy and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the Lord (Hebrews 10:31). Do not be a victim of God’s finger (Numbers 16:30-33; Daniel 6:24).

CONCLUSION: The finger of God is still in operation today. Make up your mind to enjoy its benefits and refuse to be a victim.

QUESTIONS
1. How does the finger of God bring war?
2. How can one benefit from the finger of God?

For Further Reading: Romans 10:9; 2 Timothy 3:16; Acts 2:21; 2 Peter 3:9; Titus 2:11.

Open Heavens for Teens 8 June 2019 — Friends: How Trustworthy

Memorise: “Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.” – Micah 7:5

Read: Micah 7:2-7

2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 26-28, John 17

MESSAGE:

Expectations are usually disappointed when placed on friends. The truth is that the individuals most people take as friends are not truly their friends.

True friends will express love that is stronger that of blood brothers (Proverbs 18:24). Also, a true friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17) and has the best interest of the other person at heart.

David and Jonathan were true friends and they were ready to do anything to protect their friendship. You should be wise enough to know which of your friends is a true friend and one you can trust. Also Read – Open Heaven 9 June 2019 Sunday

It is very disastrous for you to tell your secrets and plans to people you think are your friends but are actually not. Most importantly, Jesus is the truest friend anyone can ever have; He is always faithful and will never disappoint you. Make Him your friend today.

Key Point:
If you have all Tue friends in the world but you do not have Jesus Christ as your friend, you will never experience what true friendship is.

Hymn 10:

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was recognized as a great teacher when He was here on earth.

He taught so wonderfully that those who heard Him were astonished at His teachings.
Mark 1:22 says;

“And they were astonished at His doctrines: for he taught them as one that had authority and not as the scribes”.

While teaching His disciples His principles on leadership, He said to them in Matthew 20:28;

“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many”.

In this one verse, He addressed issues of leadership, power, authority and human dignity.

The power in this verse lies in the fact that it upturns the notion of what greatness really is, by establishing how a leader must first humble himself or herself in providing necessary services to others.

Jesus further expanded his teachings on leadership to include the fact that anyone who desires to be a leader must first be a good follower.

OPEN HEAVENS 10 JUNE 2019

He also explained that even though the leaders of the world might exercise authority and control over their subjects; it must not be so among children of God. In Luke 22:26; he said;

“But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve”

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are expected to walk in these principles. Every potential leader in the Body of Christ must first learn to be submissive in service and followership.

In Matthew 23:11, Jesus said to His disciples that he who desires to be the greatest among them must first be the servant.

He also taught them in Mark 9:35 that if anyone desired to be leader amongst them, the same fellow must humble himself to take the least position and serve others.

To further emphasize the role and importance of service in Christianity, Jesus told His disciples in John 13:13-15;

“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you”.

A disciple cannot be above his Master, neither can a servant be above his Lord. We are expected to live a lifestyle that honours God.

The leadership principles Jesus taught are firmly built on followership, service, humility, obedience and loyalty. You’re reading Rccg Open Heavens Daily Devotional 10 June 2019

If you want to follow Jesus Christ acceptably, you must align your attitude with His principles on leadership.

OPEN HEAVEN 10 JUNE 2019 PRAYER POINT:

Father, please grant me grace to continually live a life of service to You as a good follower of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Name.

Ever faithful, ever sure.

Ever faithful, ever sure.

OPEN HEAVEN 10 JUNE 2019 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 4, Jeremiah 51:24-40

Numbers 4 King James Version (KJV)

4 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,

3 From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

4 This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

5 And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:

6 And shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.

7 And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon:

8 And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put in the staves thereof.

9 And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:

10 And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put it upon a bar.

11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put to the staves thereof:

12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar:

13 And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon:

14 And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, even the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers’ skins, and put to the staves of it.

15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.

16 And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.

17 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying,

18 Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:

19 But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:

20 But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

21 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

22 Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families;

23 From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:

25 And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers’ skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve.

27 At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens.

28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers;

30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.

31 And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof,

32 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden.

33 This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

34 And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers,

35 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation:

36 And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

37 These were they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, which Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the Lordby the hand of Moses.

38 And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers,

39 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,

40 Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty.

41 These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the Lord.

42 And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers,

43 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,

44 Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred.

45 These be those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,

47 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation.

48 Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore,

49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Jeremiah 51: 25-40 King James Version (KJV)

24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the Lord.

25 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the Lord.

27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the Lord shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

33 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

36 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.

39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the Lord.

40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 SUNDAY – PRAYER IS TWO-WAY FELLOWSHIP

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 MEMORISE:
“Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” – (John 12:28).

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 READ: Matthew 17:1-9 (KJV)

1. And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2. And was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here; if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 MESSAGE WITH HYMN, PRAYER POINTS, BIBLE READING & DAILY DECLARATIONS

Prayer is a two-way communication with God or a solemn request for help addressed to Him.

As a form of intimate communion with God in worship, it usually consists of thanksgiving, adoration, confession, intercession and petition.

Based on God’s love for His children, He made prayer available as a means of communicating with Him. God’s grace gives us things we do not deserve, while His mercy shields us from things that are detrimental to our wellbeing. Also Read – Prayer Points For Open Heavens 8 June 2019

We connect with His grace and mercy when we pray. As believers in Christ, we are able to relate with God on a personal level in the place of prayer because God manifested himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ, and He has opened to us the door of access to the throne room of Heaven.

He desires all men and women created in His image and redeemed by His blood to call upon His name in prayer, and He promises that they will receive answers from Him.

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019

Through our answered prayers, he proves His existence and ability to do all things. Matthew 6:6 says;

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy father which is in secret; and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly”.

Prayer is an act of faith because it carries with it the assumption that God is willing and at the same time able to hear and respond to the petitions of His children.

When we pray, we acknowledge our weakness, limitation and total helplessness, while declaring total trust and reliance on God’s power to solve whatever problem is presented to Him. Also Read – Daily Declarations For 8 June 2019

Prayer is therefore both a wonderful privilege and a solemn responsibility for God’s children. Speaking on prayer, Jeremiah 29:12 says;

“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you”.

Furthermore, our Lord Jesus Christ, in Matthew 7:7 says,

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”.

These passages and many more in the Bible clearly reveal God’s attitude towards prayer.

God is a prayer-answering God who is always moved by love and compassion to respond to the prayer requests of His children.

Be encouraged therefore to come boldly to the throne of grace with the assurance of obtaining mercy, favour and spiritual empowerment in times of need. (Hebrews 4:16).

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 ACTION POINT:
Consciously listen to hear God speak to you whenever you pray. The answer to your prayers could be in what He drops into your heart or speaks in your ears.

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 HYMNAL:
Hymn 8 – My faith looks up to Thee

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
Pure, warm and changeless be
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And grief around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul.

OPEN HEAVEN 9 JUNE 2019 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 3, Jeremiah 51:6-23

Numbers 3 King James Version (KJV)

3 These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.

2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord.

14 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.

16 And Moses numbered them according to the word of the Lord, as he was commanded.

17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.

19 And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

20 And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.

21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.

22 Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.

23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.

24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.

25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

27 And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.

28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.

29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.

30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.

31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.

33 Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.

34 And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

35 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.

36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,

37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40 And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the Lord) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.

42 And Moses numbered, as the Lordcommanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

43 And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.

44 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

48 And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.

49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:

50 Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Jeremiah 51: 6-23 King James Version (KJV)

6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

10 The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.

11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the Lord hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance of his temple.

12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

14 The Lord of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

16 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.

20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
