OPEN HEAVEN 31 OCTOBER 2023 MEMORIZE: He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see John 9:25 (KJV)

OPEN HEAVEN 31 OCTOBER 2023 BIBLE READING John 9:1-11 (KJV)

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.

OPEN HEAVEN 31 OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE

Yesterday we discussed how the resurrection of Jesus Christ confirmed His Lordship.

This, in essence, establishes that only the One with the power over death can be Lord indeed.

Today we shall look at another aspect of Jesus Christ’s Lordship – His dominion over all calamities and sicknesses, as seen in Isaiah 6l:1. Luke 4:18 also corroborates this:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

When Jesus was confronted face to face with the madman of Gadara, for example, He demonstrated this virtue as the Great Deliverer and Miracle Worker when He cast out the demons that had held the madman captive for years (Luke 8:26-39).

Jesus came to preach the gospel to the poor for all-around salvation, and rebuked with authority all who tried to oppose Him.

For example, He preached: Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves(Matthew 23:15).

To this and many of His teachings, it was said: And it came to pass when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.(Matthew 7:28-29).

Our Lord Jesus Christ was asked to prove His Lordship in John 10:24-25.

All He did was to simply refer His ‘interviewers’ to the work that His Father had been doing through Him.

He said: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.(John 10:25).

As children of God, we must be able to represent Jesus Christ adequately.

All you need is to give your life to Jesus and live by His commandments.

I prophesy to you today: you will graduate from being a miracle consumer to a miracle worker, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 7: I Am Thine O Lord

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]

3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain]

4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVEN 30 OCTOBER 2023 MEMORIZE: He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay Matthew 28:6 (KJV)

OPEN HEAVEN 30 OCTOBER 2023 BIBLE READING Matthew 28:1-6 (KJV)

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

OPEN HEAVEN 30 OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE

The Lordship of Jesus Christ was confirmed and established the day He resurrected from death because no one has ever done that by himself.

The Bible says: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased
(Matthew 3:17).

This was repeated with greater emphasis according to the account of Luke on the Mount of Transfiguration where God, the Father, spoke to the inner caucus who were to spread the news later.

The account says: While he hath spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. Luke 9:34-35

Even after all these, the world still had not accepted Him as the Lord.

However, from John 8:46 when He boldly questioned, Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? up to His death in Matthew 27:54 when the soldiers said to themselves, ….. Truly this was the Son of God, the Lordship of Christ was being confirmed and established.

In our text for today, we read the account of the resurrection of our Lord: And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Matthew 28:5-6

Apostle Paul wrote: But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain” (1 Corinthians 15:13-14).

May the Lord bless you as you exercise your faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that anyone who believes in Jesus will not be condemned however, those who do not believe in Him are condemned already because they did not believe in the name of the only begotten son of God – Jesus Christ (John 3:18).

Which group would you like to belong to?

OPEN HEAVEN 30 OCTOBER 2023 PRAYER POINT: Father, I believe Jesus is Lord. Please let His Lordship be made evident in my life.

HYMN 18: Praise To The Lord The Almighty

1. Praise to the Lord,
the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is
thy health and salvation:
Join the great throng
psaltery,organ and song
sounding in glad adoration!

2. Praise to the Lord,
who over all he gloriously reigneth:
Borne as on eagle-wings, safely
his saints, He sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen
How all thou needest hath been
Granted in what He ordaineth?

3. Praise to the Lord,
who doth prosper thy way and defend thee;
Surely his goodness and mercy
shall ever attend thee;
Ponder anew, What the Almighty can do,
Who with His love doth befriend thee

5. Praise to the Lord!
Oh, let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath breath, join with
Abraham’s seed to adore Him!
Let the Amen, sum all our praises again;
Now as we worship before Him

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 30 OCTOBER 2023 BIBLE READING LUKE 18:1-8

[1]And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

[2]Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

[3]And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

[4]And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

[5]Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

[6]And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

[7]And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

[8]I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 30 OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE

There’s a general saying: “A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian”. This saying is true.

Many people want to have a better relationship with God, cause positive changes in their world, make unpleasant situations turn around for good, and even be able to perform miracles, yet, they are unwilling to pay the price.

You have to live a consecrated life powered by consistent praying to be able to do all of that.

A life of prayer is indeed a blessed one. In the story of the widow in our text for today, there are many lessons we can learn.

One, the judge avenged the widow of her enemies simply because, by her prayer, she compelled him to.

Two, this woman did not change her prayer she was consistent in her request.

Many people gamble with their prayer lives by not knowing or not asking for the specific things they need.

As you ask in faith today, may you receive blessings beyond your wildest
imaginations, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE PASSAGE: John 14:10-14

[10]Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

[11]Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. The Answered Prayer

[12]“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

[13]And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

[14]If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. Jesus Promises Another Helper

MEMORY VERSE: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12 (NKJV).

INTRODUCTION: In our previous lesson, we established the fact that like Jesus – the only begotten Son, all believers in Jesus Christ are God’s adopted sons and have equal status with the begotten Son. Just as Jesus demonstrated divine power and enjoyed direct access to the Father during His earthly ministry, believers are entitled to the same flow in the family of God. Today, we will attempt to consider some of the privileges that the “sonship status” confers on us as well as the right mindsets for this reality and the attendant responsibilities.

OUTLINES:
1. THE PRIVILEGES OF SONS
2. THE MINDSET AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SON

1.THE PRIVILEGES OF SONS
Becoming the “son of God” is the greatest achievement anyone could have because the “sonship status” confers so many privileges on the believer which include: Uncommon divine revelations (John 15:15); Stewardship of God’s estate (John 17:10); Heir-ship of God (Galatians 4:7); Divine Honour (John 12:26); Eternal life (John 3:15-16); Access to authority (Luke 10:19); Supernatural preservation (John 17:12); Supernatural stamina (Ephesians 3:16-17); A place in God’s kingdom (John 14:2-3); Freedom from sin and its attendant slavery (1John 3:8-10); Appointment unto glory (John 17:22); Intimacy with the Father (Matthew 6:9, 31-32); Access to royalty (1 Peter 2:9).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should share the privileges they have enjoyed as sons of God.

2. THE MINDSET AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SON
To operate in and maximize the status of sonship, we must develop the right mindset and be committed to the responsibilities attached. These include:
1.Total surrender and obedience to the Father’s will (Philippians 2:5-8);

2.Openness to correction and chastening (Hebrews 12:5,7,11);

3.Power and authority consciousness (Mark 16:17-18);

4.Awareness of Divine presence (Hebrews 13:5);

5.Courage and boldness (Ephesians 3:11-12).
As sons we must also have a sense of responsibility towards the kingdom (Matthew 6:33); Intimacy with God through the Holy Spirit (1John 2:27); Absolute trust in the Father (Proverbs 3:5-7); Passionate love for the Father (Mark 12:29-30); Love and compassion for humanity (1 John 3:15-17, 1 John 4:20); Commitment to holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: The teacher should ask the students to mention what has changed about them since they accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

CONCLUSION: To fully enjoy all the privileges of sonship, believers must develop the right mindset and undertake the accompanying responsibilities.

QUESTIONS:
* What are the privileges believers enjoy as sons of God?
* Mention three responsibilities believers have as sons of God.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:1-7

[1]Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

[2]For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

[3]For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

[4]That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

[5]Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

[6]That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

[7]For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

MEMORY VERSE: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23.

INTRODUCTION: Being born again is a state of conversion from being a sinner to becoming a saint. It is a spiritual transformation that leads to a change of heart and life (John 3:3-7). Being born again is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes, confesses his/her sin, and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Saviour and Lord. If we claim to be born again, there must be notable pieces of evidence to prove that we are children of God (Romans 8:14).

OUTLINES:
1. A SANCTIFIED LIFE
2. A SPIRIT-CONTROLLED LIFE

A SANCTIFIED LIFE
If we are born again, it is expected that we live a sanctified life: a life devoid of sin, separated unto God and Christ-like (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:13). This is what it means to be a Christian or a Child of God.
It is the will of God that His children are sanctified (1 Thessalonians 4.3). Jesus’ followers are expected to be sanctified (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 1 Peter 1:15-16). This great privilege and experience (sanctification) are obtainable by the word of God (John 17:17), the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 13:12), and by heart surgery as the individual daily surrenders unto God (Ezekiel 36:25-27; Romans 6:13). As children of God, we are empowered to live holy, bear the fruit of the Spirit, and have a guaranteed eternity in the Lord (Romans 6:22; Galatians 5:22-23).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should share the privileges they have enjoyed as sons of God.

A SPIRIT-CONTROLLED LIFE
Anyone that is born again should be controlled by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us power over sin (Galatians 5:16); power to serve God (Acts. 1:8); power to witness to our spiritual adoption (Galatians 4:6, 1 Jn. 3:24).
Also, the Holy Spirit helps us to bear fruits unto repentance (Matthew 3:8); guides us into all truth (John 16:13), controls believers’ temperament (Romans 8:4-5; Galatians 5:25), He gives life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11); power to rebuke and cast out demons (Acts 13:8-11); influences our choices (Acts 13:2). The Holy Spirit sends help and comforts Christians in times of pains, disappointment, loss, trials, etc. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: The teacher should ask the students to mention what has changed about them since they accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

CONCLUSION: Anyone who is born again must be sanctified and controlled by the Holy Spirit.

QUESTIONS:
* Mention three things believers can do to be sanctified.
* What are the benefits of a spirit-controlled life?

ASSIGNMENT: Write out five specific instructions the Holy Spirit has given you which was different from what you had in mind. (2×5=10 marks).

5. Come, join this family of God,
So highly favoured by the Lord,
They have taken me into their arms

A part of this great family.

OPENING PRAYER: Lord, grant me everything required to make my walk with You successful and let it end in praise in Jesus name.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leader should remind members of the dress code expected from believers and the lifestyle desired from saints.

MEMORY VERSE: “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. ” Romans 8:7

BIBLE TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 4:7-8

[7]I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

[8]Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 29 OCTOBER 2023 SUNDAY: REDEEMED FROM FEAR

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 29 OCTOBER 2023 MEMORIZE: And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Hebrews 2:15

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 29 OCTOBER 2023 BIBLE READING GALATIANS 4:4-7

[4]But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

[5]To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

[6]And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

[7]Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 29 OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE

The benefits of redemption are innumerable. Anytime I remember what I suffered in the hands of satan and his agents before the blood of Jesus Christ redeemed me, I cannot help but thank God for the salvation of my soul.

Fear was a major source of torment before I met Jesus Christ.

This fear was passed unto me from my mother who, by the grace of God, also later became saved.

For fear that I, being her only son, might be killed, my mother sent me far away from my hometown.

I could not return for many years for fear of death and the wicked people there.

However, when we surrendered to the lordship of Jesus Christ, we were saved and liberated from the spirit of fear.

This is why I decree, if you have been living in perpetual fear, you are delivered from that torment now in the name of Jesus.

Hebrews 2:14-15 says:
“¹⁴Forasmuch then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood, he also
himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him
that had the power of death, that is the
devil;

¹⁵and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

Dear child, hand over your fears to the Lord in prayers, and you will be alright.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 29 OCTOBER 2023 HYMN

HYMN 4 – ON A HILL FAR AWAY

1. On a hill far away
Stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross
Where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

CHORUS
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross;
And exchange it someday for a crown.

2. Oh, that old rugged cross
So despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God
Left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary.

3. In the old rugged cross,
Stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;
For ’twas on that old cross
Je-sus suffered and died,
To par -don and sanc-ti-fy me.

4. To the old rugged cross
I will ever be true,
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day
To my home far away,
Where His glory for-ever share
