BIBLE PASSAGE: LUKE 19:12-26

[12]Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.

[13]So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’

[14]But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

[15]“And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

[16]Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’

[17]And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’

[18]And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’

MEMORY VERSE:

INTRODUCTION: Simply put, financial intelligence is about being financially wise. It is the knowledge and skills gained from understanding finance and accounting principles in the business world and how money is being used (Prov.18:15). To be highly successful, extra efforts, skills, intelligence, and God’s leading will be needed. It is not only organisations and business owners that need financial intelligence; it is also needed for personal finance.

1. PERSONAL FINANCE
Personal finance is the term that covers planning (Prov.21:5; 30:25) and managing personal financial activities such as revenue generation, expenditures, budgeting, savings, investments, and other financial-related actions (Matt.25:20). As an individual, your personal finance is a reflection of the level of your financial intelligence that is, your ability to make smart decisions, plan properly, especially in the aspect of finance, and live a good life (Prov.10:4). Your net worth and what you are able to do with your money is considered a success (Matt.25:22) and not necessarily so much cash at your disposal. A personal financial statement (Assets-Liabilities) shows the net worth of an individual. For example, if all assets in possession are sold and all debts paid, and the liabilities are greater than the assets, the financial statement indicates a negative net worth. But, if the individual has more assets than liabilities, it is positive net worth.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Can you say so many people in your locality are financially intelligent? If No/Yes: How and Why?

2. BE FINANCIALLY INTELLIGENT
For us to be financially intelligent, we need to do the following:

1. Develop a personal success drive and be intentional about the well-being of your finance (1Kgs.11:28).

2. Seek knowledge and be informed (Prov.1:5): Invest in yourself (Prov.19:20), read (2Tim.4:13), make research (Acts 17:11), ask questions, and open your ears and eyes to the happenings around you.

3. Practice what you learn and use the knowledge gained to execute the purpose for which it was acquired (Prov.6:6; 10:4).

4. Keep track of your spending: identify where you need to make amends and where you need to intensify efforts (Prov.16:21a).

5. Have proper and detailed records of your income and expenditure (2Chr.34:16-18).

6. Surround yourself with the right people who share the same opinion (Prov.13:20; 27:17).

7. Pray for divine wisdom and direction on what and when to invest your resources (Jam.1:5; Isa.30:21).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: The Teacher should ask students to comment on why they think each of the seven items so identified above is necessary to make a person financially intelligent?

CONCLUSION: Financial intelligence is needed in order to stay on top of your financial game because hardly would you find a financially intelligent person who is not successful.

1. PERSONAL FINANCE
The Teacher should test the knowledge of students on what personal finance is.
The Teacher should explain personal finance under two major headings: Personal finance and net worth.

A. PERSONAL FINANCE:
i. Personal finance is the term that covers planning (Prov. 21:5; 30:25) and managing personal financial activities such as revenue generation, expenditures, budgeting, savings, investments and other financial related actions (Matt. 25:20).

ii. It is the ability to make smart decisions, plan properly especially in the aspect of finance and live a good life (Prov. 10:4).

B. NET WORTH:
i. Your net worth and what you are able to do with your money is considered success (Matt. 25:22).

ii. It is not necessarily so much cash at your disposal

iv. For example:

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 11 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

I want you to see to day’s topic as a prophetic word from God coming to you with power. You may be wondering what shall not stand. It is the counsel of the wicked against your life. This prophetic word is only effective to those that know the true God.

Beloved, if you want to put an end to evil conspiracies against you, you must learn to pray. From the Bible reading today, when Nehemiah learned about the conspiracy of those that were against him: Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, he called for prayer.

When you show God that you are not taking your situation with levity by praying, He will fight for you and will not allow the counsel of the wicked against your destiny to prosper. However, while you wait for God to intervene, don’t stop praying and watching. God wants you to be vigilant so His effort over you will not be futile.

13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

OPEN HEAVEN 11 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

The help of God usually comes from unexpected sources like in our Bible reading for today. You might be thinking that help would come from a particular place and then it comes from a completely unexpected source. God can send help to you from anywhere because He owns the world and its fullness (Psalm 24:1).

The Bible tells us in Exodus 17:1-6 that God brought water out of the rock, meaning that He can send help from the most unexpected sources. Don’t think of how God will help you; just know that He will do it.

When I was to move into my first house at the Redemption Camp in 1985 – now known as The Open Heavens International Centre, it didn’t have any doors or windows and I wanted to move in before October 1. That weekend, we had a School of Disciples meeting and I could have easily raised the needed N50 from my students, since they were more than fifty in number. To me however, that would have been begging.

When God called me to ministry, He told me that He would be my source. I just told them, “I need a miracle”. They all prayed for me and left. The following Sunday there was this young lady who came to my office and gave me money that she had been saving so that she could travel abroad. I accepted the money, prayed for her and she left.

When I opened the envelope, it was the exact amount that I needed. One Sunday, I saw this young girl again, gorgeously dressed. She explained that she had just returned from London.

Her friend’s parents took her abroad on holidays with them, as their daughter had refused to go without her. They paid all her expenses and gave her a shopping allowance. God used that girl to meet my need, then He used her friend’s parents to meet her own need.

You don’t need to calculate how God will send help to you; just tell Him what you need and trust Him. Whatsoever you may need help for right now, God will send it to you in unexpected ways, in Jesus’ name.

The first time I read Philippians 3:10 as a young believer, I wondered what else Paul wanted to know about Jesus that he had not known already. Now, I know better. Some Christians would see this question as irrelevant since they are already familiar with who Jesus is.

We may not know Jesus in His fullness until we see Him in glory. In Matthew 16:15, Jesus did not assume His disciples knew Him enough. After being with them for months, He had to ask who they thought He was.

Many people claim to know Jesus, yet, they do not know His will, His words, and His ways. They argue about simple Biblical doctrines. Knowing Jesus is not just about being familiar with His story but knowing His ministry, death, resurrection, the truth in His word, His person through the Holy Spirit, and what He expects of you in every moment. How much of Jesus do you know?

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

OPEN HEAVEN 10 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

Divine help refers to the intervention of God to get a man to a place he is trying to reach. The help of God is always on time; God is never late (Psalm 46:1). Just at the moment when you need help, He will be there-in the nick of time (Psalm 124:1-7).

In 1 Kings 17:8-16, we read a story of a widow in a time of famine. She was going to prepare her last meal so that she and her son could eat before dying.

Unknown to her, help was already on the way and that seemingly last meal was the first of many more. Your help is already on its way, in Jesus’ name.

Many years ago, during our annual Convention in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, my wife came to me and said, “Darling, we need N5,000 to feed the people today”. This was a lot of money in those days. Although l had no money on me then, l responded, “Good l will send for you”. She left and l turned to the helper of the helpless, praying for a way to feed everyone there.

Not long after, a man was driving past and decided to stop by. He asked what we were doing and l told him we were having a convention. He said, “That is a very wonderful idea. Next year, l will be part of it”. I thought, “I am talking of today; this man is talking of next year”.

The man then put his hand in his pocket and said, “But for now, have this”. He gave me an envelope and left. I opened the envelope and found N1,000 in it. I said, “Thank you Lord; one down, four to go. Before long, the youths came to my office and at the end of their visit gave me an envelope with N2,000 in it. Within a short time, l had all the money needed for the feeding. In the nick of time, God send help to me. Your help will come today, in Jesus’ name.

The interesting thing about God is that He is the Reverser of the irreversible, so even when it looks as if He is late, He can reverse time for your sake.

Sarah laughed when God told her she would carry a child because she believed it was already too late for her and Abraham, but she carried a child to term and delivered safely (Genesis 21:’1-2). Even if it seems as if God is late, l decree: He will reverse time for your sake, in Jesus’ name.
