OPEN HEAVEN 8 MAY 2023 MESSAGE

God never does anything without a purpose. He promotes people primarily to fulfill His purpose. God promotes men so that they can use their promotion to serve and bless others. A tree does not consume its own fruit; it produces fruit for others to benefit from. You don’t become fruitful just for your own self, but rather, so that you can be of service to others.

According to Exodus 2:11-15, Moses was a fugitive. He was running away from Pharaoh because he had just committed murder, but by the time we get to Exodus 7:1, God said, “See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh…”. God promoted Moses so that he could deliver the nation of Israel.

This is why, in Exodus 14:21-28, God could use Moses to clear a way through the Red Sea for the whole nation. (1 Samuel 16:11-13) tells us that when God wanted to appoint a king in his family, He chose the only one that nobody considered relevant — David. By the time He had promoted David, one of the reasons for his promotion came up in the next chapter – God used him to deliver a nation from a terrorist (1 Samuel 17:1-51).

When God promotes a man, it is so that he can help others fulfil their destiny. You can help others become who God wants them to be. This is why I don’t say a word when people criticize us for planting so many Churches, because a lot of people would never have discovered their purpose if they were not sent out. The purpose of God promoting you is to help others become what He planned for them. I pray that you will remember to help others fulfil their destinies when God promotes you.

The Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 that God sought just one man who would stand between Him and the people so that He would not destroy their nation, but found none. Maybe God is waiting to promote you. If you are willing to help others, God will find you worthy of promotion.

A real father would go to any length
to protect his children from harm. Our Heavenly Father does much more. He not only neutralizes the weapon formed against His children, He also protects them from harm. In fact, He has saved me several times.

I remember when I was a boy, my sister and I were returning from the farm one fateful day
when suddenly, we heard the sound of a jeep belonging to a dangerous man who obviously came to collect gold from the miners in my village. Immediately, my sister grabbed my hand, and we both jumped out of the way, landing in an empty well. We barely escaped the jeep, but before we could heave a sigh of relief, we saw a snake moving towards us. How my Heavenly Father saved us is still a mystery.

There is nothing our God cannot control.

Heavenly Father, I come to You today to repent on behalf of the Church for the sin of showing off and flaunting material possessions. Help us to turn away from this sinful behavior and focus on Your will for the Body of Christ, in the matchless name of Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a grateful heart for the gift of family. I ask that You bless and protect my family from all harm and danger. Keep us in good health, provide for our needs, and grant us Your divine guidance in all that we do.

Father, I also pray for a fruitful and blessed Sunday service, where we can come together in unity and worship You with one heart and mind, in Jesus’ name.

Oh Lord, I pray for unity among believers in the Church. May we have singleness of heart and be of one accord, just like the early Church in Acts 2:46-47. Let our love for each other and for the gospel be the driving force behind our actions, in Jesus’ name.

I ask You to deliver him from people who have wrong motives. I also pray that he will have joy in his ministry; and that he will always feel strong and refreshed in his spirit, soul, and body. I decree and declare may the wisdom and inspiration of the Almighty upon him never cease and the grace of God will continually dwell with him and his entire household, may they continue to enjoy Your faithfulness in the mighty name of Jesus.

I decree and declare heaven responds to these prayers and declarations as I say them and I receive answers in Jesus’ name.

There are many children who were born last in their families that are presently the light that every member of the family looks up to. Joseph was the 11th of 12 brothers, but he became a father to them all. His brothers said in Genesis 50:18: And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, behold, we be thy servants.

Are you the last child of your family and people make you feel like the least? Don’t forget that God reserved the creation of man (the best) till the last day. Being the first doesn’t always mean being the most important, while being the last does not also always mean you are the least important.

God will show up and intervene in your situation when all hope is lost. Beloved, whatever stage you are now, don’t write yourself off. Be patient and keep working hard towards your goals. It is not over until God so.

OPENING PRAYER: Almighty Father, Please grant couples wisdom and understanding to build and establish their homes.

BIBLE PASSAGE: PROVERBS 5:3-4

MEMORY VERSE: “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:” Proverbs 24:3.

INTRODUCTION: God invented marriage for companionship, sexual intimacy, procreation and invariably fulfilment (Gen.2:18, 21-24). However, what becomes of marriage depends primarily on the understanding of the couple on what marriage should be and the factors that positively or negatively influence such understanding (Prov.24:3-4). How a couple manages such influence(s) determines whether or not there will be happiness, peace, progress, etc. We shall, therefore, address some of these marriage influencers in this lesson.

LESSON OUTLINES:
LESSON OUTLINE 1: NEGATIVE INFLUENCERS
-The teacher should ask students on how items 1-7 could have adverse influence on a marriage?
a. Friends in toxic relationships: Couples must protect their marriage from failure by avoiding destructive relationship patterns sponsored by third parties whose marriages seem not to be working. (1 Cor.15:33; Ps.1:1).

b. Inordinate pursuit of money/career: Money is needed to run the affairs of the home but when it is being pursued at the expense of the marriage, it may affect the togetherness of the couple. (1 Tim.6:10).

c. Undue attention to social media: Communication becomes hampered when spouses pay more attention to social media activities than on each other. (Matt.6:21). This has disrupted family intimacy.

d. Character defects: One of the factors that make marriage beautiful is change. However, when spouses refuse to admit the need for a change in a defective lifestyle, such marriage suffers needless tensions. (Matt.7:3).

e. Close relationship with Ex-lover/opposite sex: Failure to redefine and detach fully from previous or present intimate relationship with the opposite sex can trigger unforeseen sexual immorality. (Prov.5:3, 15, 20).

f. Excessive jealousy: This happens when a partner is over-possessive. This is dangerous and can lead to destructive behaviours. (Prov.6:34).

g. Addiction: Habits like gambling, alcohol consumption, drug abuse, etc. are some moral vices that can draw the heart of either of the partners away from the marriage.

NOTE: The discussion has taken care of the Class Activity 1.

2. POSITIVE INFLUENCERS
The teacher should note and make necessary contributions on influencers of marriage as stated below:
i. Trust and understanding. (1Jn.4:18; 1Pet. 3:7).

ii. Selflessness and mutual support. (Gal.6:2; Eccl.4:9-10).

iii. Praying together and keeping Christ at the centre of the relationship. (Matt.18:19; Ps.127:1).

iv. Building a new home and family culture together. (Gen.2:24).

v. Spending quality time together. (Prov.31:28).

vi. Guarding and managing your thoughts. (Prov.4:23; 23:7).

vii. Finding work-family balance. (Rom.12:11; Ps.127:2).

viii. Never go to bed angry. (Eph.4:26).

ix. Speaking kind and uplifting words to each other. (Prov.15:1; Col.4:6).

x. Do not nag. (Prov.21:19).

xi. Being reasonable with family finance and budgets. (Prov.16:21).

SUMMARY: Negative influencers to marriage should be avoided while positive influences should be embraced.

CONCLUSION: Every marriage is a work in progress. Therefore, we must be intentional to make it work.
