To be accountable is to be responsible for your actions. For example, when I was a young Christian, there were some things I didn’t do right, so whenever I realised I was wrong. I would go to my Father-in-the-Lord of blessed memory fo explain everything to him, and he would correct and instruct me as a disciple of Christ.

These days, I see young Christians behaving as they wish without having a Christian friend they are accountable to – someone who can scold or encourage them when they misbehave or do well. This is necessary to remain on the right track to heaven. You should not only be accountable to God but to people also because it will boost your spiritual growth.

Also, being accountable to a fellow Christian will put your actions in check because you will either be corrected or commended for whatever you do. Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you to someone you can be accountable to today.

INTRODUCTION:

Social media clearly has some positive aspects but there is a dark side of social media that has been gradually emerging for years and its effect has been visible through the rising number of cyber bulling, revenge porn, cyber-crime, addiction, and mental issues that appear to be growing as a result of excessive and improper use of social media. Let us arise to pray that our people will not be victims of these vices in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord we thank you for the fulfillment of increase of knowledge in this generation. Dan 12:4

2. Lord we thank you for the release of knowledge for providing solutions to all our challenges in Jesus name.

Building healthy relationships and getting close to people – especially fellow believers is good. All relationships, however, must be clearly defined and never allowed to become a source or platform for sin.

For example, the Pastor can know the name of a sister in the Church and the department she works in – that is an expected level of intimacy. Her friend in that department can know her house, parents, place of work, likes and dislikes – that is another level of intimacy.

However, due to a higher level of intimacy between spouses, her husband is expected to know more about her than anyone else. There is a level of intimacy that a brother should never have with a sister he is not married to and vice versa.

When you notice that you are getting so close to someone that you can hardly go one hour without thinking about that fellow, you need to cut that relationship. When you notice that if a colleague who is a member of the opposite sex does not come to the office, you are not yourself that day, there is fire on the mountain that must be addressed immediately before it destroys you.

Many people have fallen into adultery and fornication because they had a seemingly harmless relationship with a ‘friend’. Any friend who knows you more than your spouse could easily become a home breaker. Any friend you feel more comfortable talking with than you do talking to your spouse is a potential enemy.

No one should know you better than your spouse. If someone of the opposite sex is trying to know you more intimately than they should, be firm about letting them know their limits. A man does not need to know where any woman he is not married to shops for her underwear that information is not for his ears.

Any woman who is not a man’s wife doesn’t need to know what particularly excites him – that information is for his better half only. My people in Nigeria say that when a handshake is beginning to get to the elbow, it’s time to pull back.

Asking God for wisdom shows that you have realized you cannot do anything on your own without His help. In this day and age, where foolishness is expressed through various means, young people need God’s wisdom to be able to do the right things.

The Bible says in Proverbs 12:15: “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” For you to be great in life, you need the wisdom of God that surpasses human wisdom in speech, action, intentions, and relationships.

Solomon became the wisest man who ever lived when he asked for God’s wisdom, and he got additional blessings in the process. It takes humility to submit to the wisdom of God especially when divine instruction appears foolish. Thus, to receive wisdom from God, be humble and teachable.
