OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 THURSDAY : WHEN PARENTS OBJECT

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 MEMORISE: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:1

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 READ: Ephesians 6:1-3

[1]Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

[2]Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

[3]That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

There are several examples of people in the world today who became outstanding, not through the conventional route of education, but by following their passions or callings.

Some had confrontations with their parents and went against their wishes, while some who were not born with silver spoons found their way to the top by taking risks and experimenting in different fields.

My dear child, when your parents object to your dreams, don’t argue with them: rather, pray that God will make them see what He is placing in your heart.

If it is His will that they insist, rest assured that God is planning something big for you in that field.

I remember when I told my Father in the Lord that we wanted to hold an outreach in a state in the Middle Belt of Nigeria, he objected and advised me to do it in a southwestern state.

I reluctantly obeyed, and at the end of the programme, the king of the town we held the outreach in gave me an unusual blank cheque to request for acres of land for our church.

Today, Redeemer’s University and Redeemer’s School of Missions are sitting on that land.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 PRAYER POINT

Remain teachable and submissive to your parents.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 18 APRIL 2024 HYMN 10 – O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

1. O God, our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
Our shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure
Sufficient is Thine arm alone
And our defence is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame
From everlasting Thou art God
To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone
Short as he watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream
Bears all its sons away
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past
Our hope in years to come
Be thou our guard while trouble last
And our Eternal home.

OPEN HEAVEN 18 APRIL 2024 BIBLE READINGGENESIS1:1-5

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Be a vessel of evangelism and share these life-changing messages, prayers, and declarations with the precious people around you.

OPEN HEAVEN 18 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

In Genesis 1:1-5, God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness ‘night’.

The combination of both gave us the first day.

When you dig deeper, you will discover that a day is broken into three parts – morning, afternoon and evening.

In Psalms 55:17, David said, “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.”

Day is God’s unit of measuring the time of man on earth.

Psalms 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.”

Proverbs 10:27 tells us that although God can lengthen a fellow’s days, He can also shorten them.

According to the memory verse for today, the morning is the time for growing up, and it is the time for joy (Psalms 30:5).

When you are growing up as a child, you have no responsibilities.

When children wake up in the morning, they want breakfast to be on the table, and how it gets there is none of their business.

Listen to a child laugh, and you will also begin to laugh because their laughter is right from the inside.

The afternoon is when you are at your peak, and the sun is at its brightest.

Job 11:17 talks about age being clearer than the noonday. The noon is the peak of life.

The evening is when things begin to become dim, and the sun is about to set.

1 Samuel 4:15 says that Eli was 98 years old and his eyes waxed dim.

Psalms 104:23 says that man goes to his work and begins to return home in the evening.

Your evening is when you begin to round off your life.

It is pertinent to know which part of your day you are in so that you can act wisely and make the best out of it.

However, if you don’t know, you could be trying to achieve good results with the wrong method.

This is why those who fear God are called wise because even though they grow old, they have wisdom and can still do what strong people cannot.

There is a time to use strength primarily, and there is a time to use less of strength and more of wisdom.

There is a time to run and a time to pass the baton.

You must recognise your times and seasons to make the best out of your life.

1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!

2 Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre,
and as they tune it, fall
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
and crown Him Lord of all.

3 Crown Him, ye morning stars of light,
Who fixed this floating ball;
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,
and crown Him Lord of all.

4 Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God,
Who from His altar call;
Extol the stem of Jesse’s Rod,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Extol the stem of Jesse’s Rod,
and crown Him Lord of all.

5 Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race,
ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by his grace,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Hail Him who saves you by his grace,
and crown Him Lord of all!

6 Hail Him, ye heirs of David’s line,
Whom David Lord did call,
The God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown Him Lord of all.
The God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown Him Lord of all.

7 Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget
the wormwood and the gall,
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
and crown Him Lord of all.

8 Let every tribe and every tongue
before Him prostrate fall,
And shout in universal song,
and crown him Lord of all.
And shout in universal song,
and crown him Lord of all.

Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.
3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.
4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee
5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.
6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
OPENING PRAYER: Almighty God, I receive the grace to overcome any ugly past in Jesus’ name.
OPENING: Almighty God, I receive the grace to overcome any ugly past in Jesus’ name.
BIBLE PASSAGE: Numbers 11:4-7
[4]Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat?
[5]We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;
[6]but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”
[7]Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium.
MEMORY VERSE: “We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.’’ Numbers 11:5 (NKJV).
INTRODUCTION: After the children of Israel left Egypt, it is unfortunate that “Egypt” did not leave them. Despite the miracles of deliverance and divine provisions, they still longed for the cucumbers and garlic they ate as slaves because “yesterday” was vivid in their memories. The same thing applies to some of us who refuse to let go of our past! Whatever happened in the past must be history and we must embrace today and forge ahead to take a brighter tomorrow.
LESSON AIM: To learn how to overcome an unpleasant past.
TEXT REVIEW: Numbers 11:4-7.
The Prophet Moses in the above scripture revealed the nature of the children of Israel during his time with them. At the slightest craving, they would remember their old lifestyle. He said:
1. So the children of Israel …………..v4b
2. We remember the …….., the ………, the ………….,the ……….., the ..……. and the ………..v5
The children of Israel were ungrateful for their present provision but grumbled.
1. DEALING WITH THE PAST
2. EMBRACE THE FUTURE
1. DEALING WITH THE PAST
Below are some of the ways to deal with past events or occurrences:
1. Be intentional to deal with any ugly past because some bad memories always want to fill our thoughts (Philippians 4:8).
2. Learn from the mistakes so as to avoid the repetition of any ugly or undesirable past (John 8:10-11).
3. Forgive yourself and others for whatever happened in the past (Genesis 45:5). Remove the “veil of offense” and never allow it to degenerate into an obstacle (Ephesians 4:31; Hebrews 12:15).
4. Accelerate your forward movement (Exodus 14:15) by thinking and taking the next step into a brighter tomorrow.
5. Forget “yesterday’ because it is gone! Stop holding on to the past or referring to it incessantly as if you can bring back the hand of the clock. (Philippians 3:13).
6. Free your mind because a negative past enslaves you. (Galatians 5:1).
7. Cry to God to take any unwanted memory away. Remember that vengeance is of the Lord: leave the matter to Him (Romans 12:19).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention any past event that is still hurting them.
2. EMBRACE THE FUTURE
1. Believers must walk with the assurance that tomorrow will be better (Job 14:7-9; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
2. Hope is a prerequisite needed to forget the past and look forward to the future (Job 11:18; Romans 5:5).
3. Having a focus will sustain a believer to keep moving (Philippians 3:13).
4. Give yourself to the study of God’s word (Psalm 119:16) and know that He is your help (Psalm 46:1); this gives uncommon happiness and joy (Psalm 146:5).
5. Carve the future by channelling all your energy to positive endeavours in order to fulfil your purpose in life (Proverbs 16:9).
6. No matter what, win your future (Proverbs 23:18).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students should mention where they hope to see themselves in the next five (5) years.
CONCLUSION: Remembering the irreparable past generates sorrow, therefore set your mind on a better tomorrow.
EVALUATION:
i. Mention two ways believers can deal with past occurrences.
ii. Mention two ways to handle the future.
CLOSING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I receive grace to achieve all my future plans in Jesus name.
ASSIGNMENT: Think about five (5) mistakes you made in the past and write down what you are doing to avoid a re-occurrence (2×5=10 marks).

BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 2:18-25.
[18]And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
[19]And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
[20]And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
[21]And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
[22]And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
[23]And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
[24]Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
[25]And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
MEMORY VERSE: By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone. Proverbs 25:15
INTRODUCTIONMany marriages are needlessly failing because the marriage partners have a lack of knowledge regarding relationship dynamics (Hosea 4:6). Most couples, sadly to say, are ignorant on purpose. In this study, we will look at the scriptural principles and the love language that should characterise our marital relationships.
1. SCRIPTURAL PRINCIPLES GUIDING MARRIAGE
2. UNDERSTANDING THE ‘‘LOVE LANGUAGE’’
1. SCRIPTURAL PRINCIPLES GUIDING MARRIAGE
Couples in marriage should understand that the image of God is best expressed in the combination of male and female (Genesis 1:27). The God-designed difference between male and female is to be accepted as complementary, not competitive (Genesis 2:18). Marriage is a divine, not human institution (Genesis 2:21-23). It is to be a relationship of companionship, completion, and communion (Genesis 2:25; Matthew 19:5). Marriage was designed by God to be a permanent, mutual, covenant relationship (Matthew 19:6). God’s intent is for marriage to be an inestimable source of joy and fulfilment (Proverbs 18:22). In fact, marriage is a major part of God’s plan to bring redemption to the human race (Genesis 22:18). The seed of the marriage relationship provided the vehicle for the incarnation of the Saviour, Jesus Christ (Genesis 3:15; Ephesians 5:31-32).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The class should discuss the human principles that have been introduced into marriage today but which were not at the beginning.
2. UNDERSTANDING THE ‘‘LOVE LANGUAGE’’
Many problems in marriage, usually, occur due to the inability of the partners to understand each other’s love language. Love language is an expression that makes you or your partner feel loved.
There are five primary love languages. They are:
1. Quality Time. Spending time with each other and talking without interruptions, going out and about, having fun together, celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, etc. Let the courtship experience continue (Genesis 26:8).
2. Acts of Service. Do things you know your spouse will like you to do. For example; cooking meals, helping each other, especially in household chores, etc. (Ecclesiastes 4:9).
3. Exchange of Gifts. Express your love for each other through giving/receiving gifts no matter how small (1 Samuel 1:5).
4. Words of Affirmation. Couples must be consistent in saying ‘I love you,’ ‘I am sorry’ ‘Thank you’ ‘You look nice in that dress,’ etc. to each other (Songs of Solomon 4:1, 7).
5. Physical Touching: This is a way of communicating emotional love, e.g. holding hands, kissing, pecking, embracing, patting, necking, nibbling, sitting close to each other, etc. (Songs of Solomon 1:2).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Which of the points above are commonly absent as marriages get older? How can a spouse recover it/them?
CONCLUSION: Couples should discover and express to each other what ‘their’ primary love language is and not just say them but do them!
QUESTIONS:
* Mention at least three scriptural principles of marriage.
* Identify the primary love languages needed in marriage.
ASSIGNMENT: State five things you will start/continue to do for your spouse to keep him/her perpetually happy (2×5=10 marks).

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 17 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

The Bible teaches us that human life is sacred and valuable, as it is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

Abortion is taking the life of an innocent and precious unborn child. Today’s Bible reading highlights the preciousness and value of every life, even at the earliest stage of development.

Also, today’s memory verse says, “You shall not murder.” This commandment applies to an unborn child just as it does to every other human being.

By taking the life of an innocent child, you are going against the will of God and disregarding the value and sanctity of human life.

There are many dangers inherent in abortion. First, a perpetrator becomes alienated from God, leaving him or her open to attacks from the devil and his cohorts.

Secondly, a lady who aborts a pregnancy is at risk of losing her life or reproductive organs.

If such a lady loses her life in the process of getting an abortion, the probability of getting to heaven is very slim, and if her reproductive organs get destroyed in the process, she might not be able to give birth again.

Beloved, it is better to avoid premarital sex than to find yourself in the position of considering having an abortion.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 17 APRIL 2024 KEY POINT

Anyone who carries out an abortion is a murderer.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 17 APRIL 2024 HYMN 3 – DRAW ME NEARER

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS:
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee

Midnight Prayers for Favor:

1. Prayer for God’s Favor: Heavenly Father, I come before You in this midnight hour, seeking Your favor upon my life. I acknowledge that all good things come from You. I humbly ask for Your favor to rest upon me in every area of my life—my relationships, career, finances, and endeavors. Open doors of opportunity, promotion, and success. 2. Prayer for Divine Alignment: Lord, I surrender my plans and desires to You. Align my heart and actions with Your will. Guide me to walk in obedience to Your Word. May I be in the right place, at the right time, and in the right relationships for Your favor to flow abundantly. Lead me on the path that leads to Your blessings. Grant me the discernment to recognize and seize divine opportunities. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

3. Prayer for Humility and Gratitude: Gracious God, I approach Your throne with humility and gratitude. I recognize that Your favor is not earned but freely given. Help me to walk in humility, acknowledging that all I have and all I am is a result of Your grace. Keep me grateful for every blessing and every expression of Your favor. May my heart overflow with thanksgiving, and may my life reflect Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

4. Prayer for Favor in Relationships: Lord, I pray for favor in my relationships with others. Grant me wisdom and grace to interact with kindness, love, and understanding. Help me to build healthy and fruitful connections. May Your favor rest upon me in my interactions with family, friends, colleagues, and strangers. Use my relationships as a testimony of Your favor and love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

5. Prayer for Impact and Influence: Heavenly Father, I desire to make a positive impact and influence in the world around me. Grant me favor and opportunities to serve others, to share Your love, and to make a difference. Use my life as a vessel for Your glory. May Your favor empower me to bring transformation and blessing to those I encounter. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

As you pray for favor, remember to align Your desires with God’s will and trust in His perfect timing. Seek to walk in righteousness and to honor Him in all that you do. His favor is not based on external circumstances but on His loving and sovereign grace.

12 Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

13 Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.

14 In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.

15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

16 So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

OPEN HEAVEN 17 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

When you hear the expression ‘God is smiling on you,’ it means you are enjoying divine favour and grace.

In Numbers 6:24-26, God said that the sons of Aaron were to pronounce a blessing on the people, and the blessing went thus:

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

When God’s face is shining upon you, it means the Lord is smiling upon you and you will enjoy divine favour everywhere you go.

It also means that every darkness around you will be consumed, and you will be basking in His light.

When God decides to show you favour, you will achieve more than somebody who is working extremely hard without divine favour.

When God shows you favour, miracles happen.

For example, Genesis 24:63 says that Isaac went for a stroll and in the 67th verse of the same chapter, the Bible says: And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

All the background work in getting Isaac a wife was done by some other people.

When you compare Isaac’s experience to that of Jacob, who laboured for 14 years without pay before he could get the woman he wanted to marry, you will see the difference between favour and hard labour to get what you want.

I decree that from now on, God will show you favour.

Not too long ago, all the universities in Nigeria were ranked, and Redeemer’s University came second.

The first was the University of Ibadan, the oldest university in Nigeria, founded in 1948.

Redeemer’s University was only 17 years old at that time, and we beat universities that were more than 60 years old.

How could this be? The only explanation can be divine favour.

The question now is, what can you do to always enjoy divine favour?

You can find a good answer to this question in Proverbs 3:3-4 which says:

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

To draw God’s favour to yourself, always tell the truth and show mercy to others.

RCCG HYMN 19: ROCK OF AGES, CLEFT FOR ME

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

2 Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

3 Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 APRIL 2024 READ: Daniel 5:9-14

[9]Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

[10]Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

[11]There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

[12]Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

[13]Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

[14]I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

One young fellow whose heaven remained open was Daniel. Interestingly, he didn’t have a life of luxury at the beginning, but everywhere he went, he had the presence of the Holy Spirit with him.

Daniel was an educated boy from Judah. The Babylonians captured him, and in a matter of years, his fame grew such that a queen attested to his excellence and wisdom.

Daniel had a gift interpretation of dreams – that stood him out. Though he was knowledgeable in science and some other fields, the Holy Spirit breathed into his mind and made him exceptional in interpreting dreams.

My dear child, are you skilled in different areas and are confused about which one of your skills to focus on? Spend time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit today to open your mind. You can become successful in all you do when you get the Holy Spirit involved in your daily living.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 16 APRIL 2024 HYMN 17 – THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING

1. There shall be showers of blessing”
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Send from a savior above

CHORUS
Showers of blessing
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drop round are falling
But for the showers we plead.

2. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys;
Sound of abundance of rain.

3. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Send them upon us Oh Lord!
Grant to us a refreshing;
Come now and honour Thy Word.

4. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Oh, that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

5. “There shall be showers of blessing”
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be season refreshing,
If we let God have his way.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 APRIL 2024 BIBLE READING Acts 13:5-12

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.

10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 APRIL 2024 MESSAGE

There are many Christians who say that they do not take nonsense from anybody. However, these same people take nonsense from the devil.

Whether you take nonsense from people or not is not very important, what is most important is that you do not take nonsense from the devil.

The Bible says:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1 Peter 5:8

Will you sit around and let him come and devour you? You should stand your ground against him and set his tail on fire so that he can run far away from you.

One of my daughters shared a testimony some time ago. Her child was sick, and they took the child to the hospital. On getting there, the doctor said that there was nothing he could do to save the child.

The woman asked, “In that case, can you refer us to another hospital?” The doctor referred them, and on their way, they got stuck in a terrible traffic jam. While in the traffic jam, the child died.

The woman said, “I am not going to take this” and after five hours on the road, she suddenly had a brainwave.

She said, “At least my father will call his God, and his God will answer. I will call on the God of my father, and l even have a handkerchief that he once prayed over.”

She laid the handkerchief on the child, called the child’s name and commanded him to come back to life.

The child jerked awake, and there was no need to go to the hospital anymore.

When you are determined not to let something evil happen, your prayers will be more fervent than usual.

There are probably things in your life that the devil has been using to torment you.

These things will only stop when you become determined not to take any nonsense from him again.

If you have been praying gentle prayers concerning these things, it is time to use your authority in Christ and start issuing commands in your prayers.

You must however, submit yourself to God first before you can successfully stand up to the devil.

James 4:7 says:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If you are sure of your right standing with God, when you resist the devil, he will run away from you. Stop taking nonsense from him!

RCCG HYMN 31: WONDERFUL STORY OF LOVE

1 Wonderful story of love!
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love!
Wake the immortal strain.
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, O won’t you believe it?
Wonderful story of love!

Refrain:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful story, Wonderful story of love!

2 Wonderful story of love!
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love!
Still he doth call today.
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation;
Wonderful story of love!

3 Wonderful story of love!
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love!
For all the pure and blest;
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus;
Wonderful story of love!
