BIBLE PASSAGE: John 14:6-11.
[6]Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
[7]If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
[8]Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[9]Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
[10]Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
[11]Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

MEMORY VERSE: “But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.” John 10:38.

INTRODUCTION: While it may be difficult for some people to believe or accept the fact that Jesus is God, the evidence cannot be denied. Being in the form of God and equal with God (Philippians 2:6), He performed diverse miracles and demonstrated that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

OUTLINES:
1..THE MIRACLES JESUS PERFORMED
2..THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE

1..THE MIRACLES JESUS PERFORMED
A miracle is an event that involves the direct and powerful action of God, transcending the ordinary laws of nature and defying common expectations of behaviour. It is also an extraordinary occurrence that can only be attributed to the supernatural work of God that demonstrates His involvement in human history (Exodus 14:21-22; Joshua 10:12-14).
Many miracles were performed by Jesus as proof that He is God. For instance, He turned water to wine (John 2:7-9), walked on water (Matthew 14:25), multiplied a meal (John 6:11-13), healed the blind, the lame (John 9:7; Mark 2:3, 11), and the sick (Matthew 9:35; Mark 1:40-42), and even raised people from the dead (John 11:43-44; Luke 7:13-15). Moreover, Christ Himself rose from the dead (Matthew 28:5-7; Acts 10:41). No other religion can claim the resurrection of their founders.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Share an outstanding miracle you have experienced in your Christian journey with the class.

2.THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE
Jesus used the definite article to distinguish Himself as “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6). A way is a route leading somewhere. There is no other path to Heaven except Jesus (John 14:1-3; Acts 4:12).
Jesus, as the incarnate Word of God (John 1:1) is the source of all truth (John 8:32). According to Psalm 119:142, truth represents the law of God. Jesus came as the law personified. When He taught His followers, during the sermon on the mount, He reminded them of the basic points of the law and gave new commands (Matthew 5:21-22, 27-28, 31-32, 33-34, 38-39, 43-44), thereby equating Himself with God as the authoritative standard of righteousness. Jesus said He came to fulfil the demands of the law and the prophets (Matthew 5:17).
Jesus spoke of His authority over life being the source of life (John 10:10b; 14:19). He lay down His life for His ‘sheep,’ and then take it back again (John 10:17-18). He brought true deliverance from a life of bondage to sin and death to a life of victory over sin and freedom in eternity (John 3:15-16; 10:28).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2:.Do you believe that Jesus is the only access into the kingdom of heaven or not? Discuss your conviction with the class. (Teachers are to scripturally guide that Jesus is the only access to eternal existence).

CONCLUSION:There is no controversy, Jesus Christ is God. Anyone who disagrees does it at his/her peril.

QUESTIONS:
*.Mention five miracles Jesus performed.
* How is Jesus the way, the truth, and the life?

ASSIGNMENT: Write out five things Jesus has done through you for others that you could not have done by your ability (2×5=10 Marks).

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE:

It always gives me great joy to see young people who are so vocal about their conviction of faith in God.

In my days, many of us were not confident to publicly say what God told us.

In fact, if God was telling us something about our pastor or church, we couldn’t meet the pastor directly to discuss it.

Rather, we would write what God told us on a piece of paper and pass it to an usher to give to the pastor.

The narrative is different today as many young people have become bold enough to talk about their dealings, feelings, encounters, experiences, and achievements in Christ.

However, I encourage you to remain under the tutelage of a godly and mature pastor until the right time.

Jesus was only 12 years old when He started discussing at the temple with teachers and professors of the law, but after the Passover incident, He focused on serving His father, Joseph, until the age of 30.

Thereafter, He started His ministry. Irrespective of your age, being obedient to the counsel and tutelage of the Holy Spirit and those that God has placed as teachers and mentors over you matters.

This will help you to last long in the kingdom.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 13 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

Biology has established that genes that determine physical characteristics, such as body size, height, eye colour, complexion, et cetera, are transferred from parents to children.

However, not many people believe that character, attitudes, and patterns are also established in bloodlines.

For example, a child whose parents engage in violence will most likely grow up to be aggressive and violent.

Also, there are patterns in a parent’s life that manifest in a child’s life.

For example, a child may start lying or stealing, not because he or she saw a parent do it, but because it’s inherent in the family line.

I noticed that I often got angry, which I inherited from my dad, but I made extra efforts to overcome it.

I made it a major prayer point and ran away from anyone who tried to provoke me.

Beloved, are there some bad attitudes you have noticed in your parents which are now manifesting in your life?

It is time you pay more attention to them, seek counsel, and pray fervently so that they will not destroy your future.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 SEPTEMBER 2024 TODAY MESSAGE

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is committed to God that does not turn out well. This is why you must commit things into God’s hands and let Him take the lead in everything that you do.

Ask Him for counsel before you make any move, and everything will go well.

My Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, exemplified committing things into God’s hands.

He placed the church in God’s hands right from its outset. He did not just commit the church into God’s hands in prayers, he also did so in actions.

He did exactly everything that God asked Him to do as regards the church, and in turn, God fulfilled His promises concerning the church.

Many people think that The Redeemed Christian Church of God is what it is today because of me; that is not true.

God already decided the destiny of the church long before I became born again. If I had refused to obey Him, He would have gotten someone else to become the General Overseer.

Whatever is committed into God’s hands can never go wrong.

If you really want to be successful, place all your plans in the hands of God. Proverbs 3:5 says: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Don’t depend on your degrees, skills, connections, or money; depend on God alone. Trust Him with all your heart, do everything according to His word, obey all His instructions, and you will see Him do great things for you.

Make it clear to God that He is the owner of your career, business, ministry, and every other aspect of your life, and He will make sure that you have all-round success.

You must note, however, that when you commit something to God, you are agreeing to Him becoming your senior partner. This means that when He gives you instructions, you must obey.

Some of these instructions may not make sense to you, and some may be very difficult for you to do, but if you don’t take the control back from Him, and if you submit to His leadership, you will enjoy greater success than you could ever have had all by yourself.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 SEPTEMBER 2024 PRAYER POINT

Father, please take complete charge of all that concerns me from today, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVEN 15 SEPTEMBER 2024 HYMN 30

WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 MEMORISE: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalms 51:17

OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 READ: 1 Samuel 15:1-28:

1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying,

11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.

12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord.

14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lordhath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?

18 And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord?

20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.

22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord.

26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

28 And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

Amongst the people you find in church, some are unto honour while others are unto dishonour, as we see in 2 Timothy 2:20: But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

God, however, is not the One who makes some vessels unto honour and others unto dishonour.

Rather, people, based on their behaviour toward God and His instructions, choose for themselves if they will be unto honour or unto dishonour.

There are many people who say that since God is merciful, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), they can commit sin multiple times and ask Him for mercy multiple times.

Therefore, they commit sin purposely, trusting that when they ask for mercy, God will have mercy. Some even say things like, “God, forgive me for what I am about to say.”

They know it is a sin, but they ask for forgiveness and go ahead to say it. People like this are trying to make a fool out of the Most High God and will become vessels unto dishonour if they do not repent.

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Even if a Christian gives a big sacrifice or worships God deeply, if his or her heart is still in a sinful state, the wages of sin remain death.

In today’s Bible reading, God told Saul to kill all the Amalekites, but he decided to play on God’s intelligence by saying that it was the people who brought the king of Amalek and the choice animals back with them to Israel.

We see the result of the disobedience in 1 Samuel 15:28: And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

Saul begged Samuel to let him worship God, but it was not out of true repentance. He only did that because he did not want to be embarrassed in the presence of his followers.

In the next chapter, you will see that as much as Samuel pleaded on his behalf, God still asked him to anoint a new king as his replacement. God later sent an evil spirit to torment Saul, as he had become a vessel unto dishonour.

Beloved, be careful. Don’t toy with sin, and don’t try to play on God’s intelligence so that you don’t end up like Saul.

OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 REFLECTION

Do you still indulge in the things that God has been warning you about? Beware, so that you don’t become a vessel unto dishonour.

OPEN HEAVEN 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 HYMN 20

STAND UP! STAND UP FOR JESUS

1 Stand up, stand up for Jesus
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From vict’ry unto vict’ry
his army he shall lead
till ev’ry foe is vanquished
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are men now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger
and strength to strength oppose.

3 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next, the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
a crown of life shall be;
he with the King of glory
shall reign eternally.

27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

OPEN HEAVEN 13 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

When God gives a commandment, many people think that it is for His own good, whereas every commandment that He gives is for our good.

When you disobey God, you are actually hurting yourself; He remains God whether you obey Him or not.

Those who choose to disobey God are the ones that are actually losing, not God.

When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son to Him, it was not because He wanted to eat the boy for breakfast; it was because He wanted Abraham’s obedience to open the door to irreversible blessings for him and his seed.

If Abraham had disobeyed, he would have missed out on such a great blessing.

When Elisha told Naaman to go and wash in the river Jordan, it was not because he wanted to humiliate him, it was because he wanted him to be healed of leprosy.

Naaman almost missed his healing because of his pride. If he had not gone to wash, Elisha would not have lost anything, but Naaman would have died a leper.

When God gives you an instruction, no matter how difficult it seems, you stand to gain a lot more from obeying it.

God gave man a special gift, and that is free will. This free will is one of the things that makes us more special than all His other creations.

You can decide to obey or disobey Him if you want. However, to justify any blessing that He wants to give to you, He wants you to obey Him out of your free will.

If you disobey His instruction, you are using your free will against Him, and that will disqualify you from receiving the blessings that are attached to the instruction.

When God sent Elijah to the widow of Zarephath for food, he told the woman to give him her last meal. It was not Elijah who needed a miracle; God had already been feeding him supernaturally up until that time.

God wanted to test the widow to see if she would use her free will for herself or Him. She passed the test, and in return, she had more than enough food to last her through the famine.

Also, when her son died in 1 Kings 17:17-22, because she had obeyed God, Elijah was there to bring him back to life.

Beloved, obeying God is always for your good.

OPEN HEAVEN 13 SEPTEMBER 2024 KEY POINT

Never miss an opportunity to show God that your free will is for Him.

OPEN HEAVEN 13 SEPTEMBER 2024 HYMN 30

WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 12 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

Prosperity is God’s desire for every child of His, and health is one of His greatest blessings to mankind.

However, some people have abused financial prosperity to the point where their health has been affected.

Being an educationist has exposed me to the lifestyle of children who come from homes where they are given the liberty to eat and drink anything just to show off their parents’ prosperity.

I can boldly tell you that taking soda or carbonated drinks every day and eating flour-baked food as a show of your parents’ wealth is only foolishness because it will lead to health crises in future.

Those who are really wealthy eat the right foods in the right proportions, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, exercise regularly, take enough rest each day, and sleep for at least six hours daily.

This is the reason people often say ‘health is wealth’.

My dear child, you have a long way to go, and you must be intentional about living a healthy life.

Don’t cut short your journey in life by doing things that will affect your health tomorrow.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 12 SEPTEMBER 2024 KEY POINT

The healthier you are, the longer you will live.

CHRIST IS OUR CORNER-STONE

1. Christ Is Our Corner-Stone;
On Him Alone We Build;
With His True Saints Alone
The Courts Of Heaven Are Filled;
On His Great Love
Our Hopes We Place
Of Present Grace,
And Joys Above.

2. Oh, Then, With Hymns Of Praise
These Hallow’d Courts Shall Ring:
Our Voices We Will Raise,
The Three In One To Sin;
And Thus Proclaim
In Joyful Song,
Both Loud And Long,
That Glorious Name.

3. Here, Gracious God, Do Thou
For Evermore Draw Nigh;
Accept Each Faithful Vow,
And Mark Each Suppliant Sigh;
In Copious Shower
On All Who Pray,
Each Holy Day,
Thy Blessings Pour.

4. Here May We Gain From Heaven
The Grace Which We Implore,
And May That Grace, Once Given
Be With Us Evermore;
Until That Day,
When All The Blest,
To Endless Rest
