OPEN HEAVEN 27 AUGUST 2024 MEMORISE:Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? John 6:28

OPEN HEAVEN 27 AUGUST 2024 READ: Hebrews 6:9-14:

9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

OPEN HEAVEN 27 AUGUST 2024 MESSAGE

When I got born again in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, those that served in the church were not called workers, they were called Children of God. There was a reason behind that.

When a child gets to his father’s house and sees that things are not placed where they should be, he or she naturally starts putting things right.

However, when a visitor comes into that same house, he or she will simply find a place to sit and remain there.

If you see God as your father, whenever you get to His house, you will do whatever you can to make things work smoothly. You wouldn’t go to your father’s house and not care about the outlook and advancement of the place.

There are many benefits of being a worker in God’s house. One of them is stated in 2 Timothy 2:6:

The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

Because you are a husbandman, one who is cultivating the land to produce fruits for everyone, you will be the first partaker of those fruits.

In other words, when you work to make services run smoothly, you will be the first partaker of the blessings and miracles that happen in those services. No one works for God without getting a reward. Hebrews 6:10 says it clearly:

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

God will never forget whatever labour you do out of love for Him. God decreed in Leviticus 19:13 that no labourer must be denied his or her wages.

Do you think He will not reward you for working directly with Him? Your wages when you work for Him include protection, provision, a sound mind, deliverance, speedy answers to prayers, and a whole lot more.

While it is fine for a church to employ or pay professionals for some services, I always tell church members who are adamant about charging a fee for rendering any service without being employed by the church that they shouldn’t expect anything from God again, as they cannot get paid twice for the same service.

As a worker in a church, once you insist on getting paid money for any service you render in the church, you have made yourself a hireling in His house and not a child.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 26 AUGUST 2024 MESSAGE:

Covetousness is the desire to have what others have, and it can lead a fellow down a dangerous path if care is not taken.

One of the most famous verses about covetousness is found in Exodus 20:17; this verse is clear in its message: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”

When you covet what others have, you become focused on what you do not have, instead of being grateful for what you have.

Colossians 3:5 says: “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:”

From the text above, we can see that covetousness can become an idol in a fellow’s life, taking the place of God and leading him or her down a path away from Him.

The dangers of covetousness are numerous. Covetousness can lead to envy and jealousy, which can destroy relationships and cause divisions.

It can also lead to a life of dissatisfaction, unhappiness, greed, and selfishness.

Beloved, rather than covet what others have, be grateful for all God has blessed you with, and trust in His provision for your future.

OPEN HEAVEN 26 AUGUST 2024 MEMORISE: A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. Proverbs 14:30

OPEN HEAVEN 26 AUGUST 2024 READ: Galatians 5:19-21:

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

OPEN HEAVEN 26 AUGUST 2024 MESSAGE

The most dangerous thing about envy is that it opens up the heart to many evil things.

Anyone who allows envy into his or her heart is only a few steps away from harbouring many other evils.

Cain did not have any intention to murder his brother until envy came into his heart.

They must have been very close, but the day envy crept into his heart, it opened up the door to the thought of murdering his brother.

In Numbers 16:1-33, Korah and his group rose against Moses because they envied his position and were swallowed up by the earth.

When you see someone with something that you would like to have, rather than envy them, be happy for them.

Romans 12:15 says: Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

If someone is doing better than you in business, ministry, or whatever, don’t envy them, rejoice with them instead.

Yes, you may feel a little envious at first, but the danger comes when you allow that envy to linger and grow in your heart.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

James 3:16 According to the Scripture above, envy is a partner to strife, and where they exist, there will always be evil.

This is why you shouldn’t allow any feeling of envy to linger and take root in your heart.

The moment you catch yourself feeling envious of a fellow, work on your mind to expel that envy by replacing it with joy.

To work on your mind, you can ask God to help you not to feel envious.

You can also start praying for that fellow because it will really get the devil angry as he is pointing out things for you to be envious of, but instead of getting envious, you are praying for the fellow.

He will stop trying to get you to be envious after that. If you allow envy into your heart, you are opening the door for destruction.

Proverbs 14:30 says: A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Guard your heart against the poison called envy, it leads to destruction.

Father, please kill every form of envy in my life, in Jesus’ name.

[6]But godliness with contentment is great gain.

[7]For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

[8]And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

[9]But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

[10]For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 25 AUGUST 25 2024 MESSAGE

To be content is to be satisfied with what you have. We live in a world that is constantly bombarding us with messages about what we need to be happy, the things we need to have, and what we need to look like.

However, as a child of God, you have a different standard.

You have the teachings of Jesus and the wisdom of the Bible to guide you on the path of contentment.

Philippians 4:11-13 shows that true contentment comes from within, and it is something that you can achieve no matter what your circumstances are.

If you are content, the devil will have a hard time enticing you. A lot of teenagers who engage in all sorts of vices do so because they are not content with what they have.

Contentment does not mean that you will not strive for anything.

You can still have ambitions and goals, but you must keep them in perspective (Colossians 3:23-24) and not let them consume you.

Beloved, as stated in today’s memory verse, be content in all that you do.

Are you ever anxious or agitated about the future? I am imploring you to be at peace because your future is beautiful.

I want you to know that God has a plan for you. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He knew you and planned out your life.

Therefore, you have nothing to fear.
Don’t allow situations around you or the news and rumours of war in the world to get you depressed.

Jesus knows that we will encounter tribulations in the world, so He said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.

In this world we find ourselves you will have trouble. But be of good cheer! I have overcome the world’’ (John 16:33).

Beloved, make the following confessions: “I am God’s special breed, recreated in Christ Jesus to fulfil destiny.

The Spirit of God lives in me. I walk in righteousness. I glorify God with my life.

I walk on the preordained path to greatness. No divination or enchantment against me will prosper.

I will fulfil my destiny. I am unstoppable!”
As long as you are in Christ, you are safe, and your future is secured. Hallelujah!

3l. For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

4. And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.

5. And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.

6. And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.

7. And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 23 AUGUST 2024 MESSAGE

Josiah was eight years old when he became a king in Judah. He was a good king who loved the Lord.

One day, he stumbled on an old book which had the details of the things that he and his people were supposed to do in their service to God, and he swung into action immediately.

Josiah ensured that the book was read to the people, and he made a commitment to live by it.

He also destroyed the altars of worship to strange gods and started repairing the temple of God.

King Josiah wanted his people to keep their promises to the Lord, so he asked them to celebrate the Passover in remembrance of their forefathers’ freedom from the Egyptians.

Josiah achieved feats that many kings who were before him couldn’t.

From the life of Josiah, we can learn that age is not a barrier to making an impact.

Don’t ever think that you’re too young to bring about a positive change in your family, community, and the world at large.

Josiah also knew what to do after studying the Book of the Law.

How much of God’s word do you know, and how well do you apply it to your daily living? If you don’t study the word, you cannot make a real impact.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 22 AUGUST 2024 MESSAGE

Every child of God has a measure of faith.

This is because, you cannot accept Jesus Christ into your heart if you don’t believe in Him. However, God expects your faith to grow.

You cannot remain at the level you were when you first gave your life to Christ.

You must grow to a point where you can use your faith to heal the sick around you.

Today’s Bible reading tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. God’s word is food to your spirit; it is what will make your faith grow.

Thus, you must listen to it and act on it. If you do not constantly hear God’s word, you will not only be stagnant, but your faith will also become weak.

People in this category find it easy to fall back into sin and seek alternatives when they are faced with challenges. Thus, the antidote for weak faith is listening to and acting on the word of God.

The more you study God’s word and put it to work, the better and stronger you will become.

If you read through the book of Acts, you will find out that the apostles were persecuted by the authorities for preaching in the name of Jesus.

Rather than listen to the government, they preached Christ with even more boldness such that the whole of Jerusalem and its environs heard about Jesus (Acts 5:28).

In the world today, there are spirits that are working tirelessly against the preaching of the Gospel. However, they are not a limitation, because we have already overcome them.

As a child of God, you should not be afraid to preach the gospel.

Do not preach the word like you are not sure of what you are saying; study the Bible and be bold. Beloved, take note of Paul’s love and passion for Christ and the gospel as we read in today’s Bible reading.

Money management is an important aspect of human life that is often overlooked.

It is a topic that becomes increasingly relevant as you grow older and start to fend for yourself.

Thankfully, you have the guidance and wisdom of the Bible to help you navigate life’s challenges and make the most of the resources that God has given to you.

The Bible reading for today is a reminder that wealth can be temporary and that you need to be mindful of how you spend your wealth. You must always look for ways to manage and grow your resources, rather than spend recklessly.

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus told the parable of the talents. The master in the story gave his servants different amounts of money to invest, and the ones who invested wisely were rewarded.

This shows that you should be careful and thoughtful about how you use your resources.

Look for ways to maximise your returns on investments and make a positive impact.

What is your saving formula? If you don’t have one, think of one today and stick to it.
