When a fellow receives Jesus into his or her life, the Holy Spirit comes in to do a work of regeneration.

He takes away the carnal nature and replaces it with Himself. However, it will take the effort of the new convert to grow by studying God’s word.

This will help to refine his or her character completely.

Many people think that growing in the spirit is a walk in the park, but it is not so.

Romans 12:2 says: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Beloved, you must put in the work to ensure that your mind is renewed daily by the kind of things that you read, watch, and hear so that the right things will filter into your spirit.

Whatever goes inside you will definitely influence who you will become. This is the reason you should not joke with studying and meditating on God’s word.

In fact, I tell my children, “No Bible, no breakfast,” because when you eat the word of God, your spirit will grow.

OPEN HEAVEN 2 OCTOBER 2024 MESSAGE

There are five categories of prayers: very easy prayers, easy prayers, hard prayers, dangerous prayers, and ‘impossible’ prayers.

For the next few days, I will be teaching on each of them to help you have a more robust prayer life.

The first category of prayers is the very easy prayers. This is praise and worship.

Praise and worship is very easy because you don’t have to be a theologian to praise God; even little children can praise Him (Matthew 21:15-16).

David said that his soul would not forget all of God’s benefits, and so he would bless the Lord (Psalm 103:2).

As a songwriter said, if you count your blessings and name them one by one, it will be very easy to praise God.

David said, *“I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”* (Psalm 34:1).

You can praise God non-stop because praising Him is very easy when you count your blessings.

It is very easy to do, yet it is extremely powerful. Unfortunately, many Christians don’t praise God much.

When we were about to open the first parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abuja, I was in my hotel room, praying concerning the programme that would hold that evening and asking God to perform miracles, heal the sick, and save souls.

While praying, God said, “Shut up, am I your houseboy? Have you thanked Me for all I’ve done for you in the past?” I said, “Oh Lord, thank You for all You have done in the past.

Tonight, please heal the sick…” Again, He told me to shut up and that I should only praise Him and not ask for anything for the next three days.

It was very difficult, but I did it anyway. By the end of the third day, He said, “Select elders who will be going around, teaching the doctrine of the church to strengthen its foundation because all you have seen thus far is addition; get ready for multiplication.”

The result of praising Him then can be clearly seen today as RCCG has indeed multiplied greatly.

Do you engage in this very easy prayer of praise and worship? How often do you praise God?

Look around you, there are multitudes of things you can praise God for; praise Him continually for them.

I know there are some things that you wish He has done, but what about all He has done already?

If you find it difficult to praise God for what He has done, how do you expect Him to do more?

Don’t be an ingrate; go ahead and praise God with all your might.

This is why every leader needs to be prayed for. I always ask for the prayers of all my children in the Redeemed Christian Church of God because I cannot do anything without the help of God.

Leaders in all sectors need prayers so they can receive clear directions from God to make the right decisions.

If a leader is spiritually blind, there will be trouble in the nation or organisation he or she leads. Pray for leaders in the academic sector so that they will create a stable learning environment and set objectives that will be beneficial to learners across all levels.

Also, pray for leaders in industries so that they will make the right decisions as regards the quality and pricing of products that will affect the lives of millions of people positively.

Please pray for those in the finance sector so that their decisions will stabilise the world’s economies. Problems persist when God’s children fail to pray. Please pray!

OPEN HEAVEN 30 SEPTEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

Some people do not want to grow old; it is as if they are seeking the ‘fountain of youth’ that can keep them young forever.

While it is impossible to remain young forever, you can still have the strength and vigour of a youth no matter how old you become.

I told some friends sometime ago that since Joel 2:28 says that young men see visions, if you still have visions that you are pursuing, you are young.

God will give you visions when you wait on Him in His presence (Habakkuk 2:1-2).

Those who spend quality time with God are visionaries; they come out of His presence loaded with visions that they want to accomplish.

Before I became born again, my biggest vision was to be the youngest Vice Chancellor in Africa, but after I got saved and started spending time with God, I began to have bigger visions.

There is always a transfer from God to you when you spend quality time with Him.

In Exodus 34:30-35, when Moses returned after he had been with God, the Israelites could not look at his face because God’s glory was all over him.

Moses spent quality time with God; he once went to a mountain and stayed there with God for 40 days (Exodus 24:18).

No wonder when he was 120 years old, his strength had not reduced, and his eyes were still very sharp (Deuteronomy 34:7).

Abraham was over 80 years old when he went to war to rescue his nephew, Lot (Genesis 14:13-16).

He could do so because he was a man of altars, always spending time with God. Spending quality time with God keeps you strong and youthful.

With the little sleep that l often get because of my tight schedules, I should be looking older than my age, but by God’s grace, I am still strong enough at 82 to go on long walks, and my eyes are not dim. It is not because I am special; it is because I am always in contact with God’s glory in His presence.

Beloved, you can retain the vitality of youth even until your old age by being addicted to His presence.

However, you shouldn’t live an unhealthy lifestyle and expect God to keep you young because you spend hours in His presence. Anyone who is irresponsible with his or her health will face the consequences.

Spend quality time with God; His glory will rub off on you, and your youth will be renewed as the eagle’s.

Ordinarily, I shouldn’t bother you about marriage, but I once saw an opinion poll that was conducted among teenagers. In the poll, the teenagers were asked if they wanted Jesus to return now so that we all can go to heaven.

Many of them responded that they want Jesus to delay His coming until they get married and have their own children. This is very interesting because I know that this may be your answer as well.

Marriage is, first of all, for adults and not for children. This is the reason you must not let anyone push you into marriage as a child.

You and your spouse will be married until death separates you, so there is no wisdom in rushing into marriage. Those practising child marriage are not following God’s divine order.

I see many teenagers who are not interested in family responsibilities yet, clamouring for ‘Dubai wedding’.

Instead of having fantasies, I advise that you start learning all that is required to make you a successful adult who will stand the test of time in marriage.

Learn about relationships, emotional intelligence, finance, budgeting, childcare, cooking, and home management from now so that your marriage in future will be beautiful.
