Topic: Godliness And Cleanliness [Teens’ Open Heavens Saturday 10th, February 2018]
Memorise: Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from mine eyes; cease to do evil; Isaiah 1:16
Read: 2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Bible In One Year: Leviticus 10-12, Matthew 26:1-19
MESSAGE:
Our God hates dirt. He is a clean God and cannot dwell in a dirty place. Before He can dwell in the heart of a man, that heart has to first be washed clean with the blood of Jesus. My father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi once preached a message at an evening service about God and cleanliness. He said we want God in our house, yet we play dirty music in that house. For you as a teenager, you want God to dwell in your life, but you listen to ungodly music; God and dirty lyrics cannot stay in the same heart. My father in the Lord also asked us when last we raised up our bed and swept under the bed. That day, the first thing I did when I got home was to raise my bed, and I swept out so much dirt that I was frightened.
God sees everything everywhere, He sees the innermost part of your heart, He knows how you throw dirt and abandon it in the corners of your room and He does not like it. If you want God to dwell in every area of your life, then you must keep everywhere clean. If the president is coming to visit you, will you not clean up your surroundings? How much more when the King of kings is to come and dwell with you?
Key Point: God only dwells in clean places
Hymn 2:
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
