OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 24 JULY 2023 MEMORIZE: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 24 JULY 2023 BIBLE READING: Numbers 12:1-3
[1]And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
[2]And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
[3](Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.

Today’s Powerful Confession: I confess that I am wise, fearing the Lord and obediently following His will. I discern His voice, understanding His instructions. As a faithful servant, I fulfill His desires, and He blesses me abundantly, revealing His secrets and causing me to excel in life. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Hallelujah!

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 24 JULY 2023 MESSAGE

Meekness is synonymous with humility: it is having the ability to exact revenge yet refusing to.

Every child of God ought to inculcate a lifestyle of humility because the book of James before God so that He will exalt you in encourages us to “humble yourself due season (James 4:10).

This was evident in the life of Moses as God attested that he was the meekest man on earth.

Moses was chosen to be the leader of over 600,000 people that were known as the children of Israel.

Anytime they were faced with a challenge, they would antagonise and blame him for all their misfortunes.

Moses, who had the ability to call down fire, never did. Even when he could lash back at them, he would run to God for a solution.

He knew that he couldn’t lead them aright without the help of God, so he stayed humble.

Beloved, you should not be like many leaders who become pompous and overbearing.

Be different in your conduct and remain humble if you want God to continually raise you up.

Holy Spirit, please instill in me the spirit of meekness in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 24 JULY 2023 HYMN

HYMN 21 – I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS

1. I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak,

2. I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there.

3. I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.

4. I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.”

5. I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call.

6. But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee

OPEN HEAVEN 24 JULY 2023 MESSAGE

Yesterday, we started discussing the reality of God still speaking to His people, even to this present moment.

In today’s text, we read that though God spoke to His people through His prophets, now He speaks through His Son, Jesus Christ.

This is made possible through the Holy Spirit whom Jesus sent to the Church right from the day of Pentecost.

He promised: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.John 14:26

God still speaks to His people; no doubt about that. We must, however, pay close attention to the later part of the sentence – “to His people”.

In other words, God speaks only to His people. Why only His people? It is because it is His people who hearken and act on His words.

God has no time to waste talking to those who will not do His bidding.

This is why Jesus Christ was fond of speaking to His disciples, whom He knew would abide by His words.

He said further: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.John 14:21

Beloved, there are a lot of blessings for those who hear from God. One of these blessings is that such people would avoid mistakes.

For example, the word of God to the people in Cornelius’ household was based on Peter’s ability to hear from God and his obedience to the instructions given to him (Acts 10).

In the same vein, Philip’s ability to hear from God took him to the Gazan desert where he gained the soul of the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-39).

For example, hearing from God can reveal the type of business you can do to prosper.

It can also help you know where to go, live, or what type of friends you should keep. If you desire to hear from God directly, you must give your life to Christ and live wholly for Him.

TAKE MY LIFE

HYMNAL: 23 – TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE

1. Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 23 JULY 2023 MESSAGE

The Christian journey is not bed of roses.

Don’t believe an heresy that says that once you give your life to Christ, you will not have any problems again.

The only difference is that as a Christian, you’re assured of victory when you patiently abide in Christ.

Many years ago, I accepted Jesus into my life so that he could solve a particular problem for me.

He put an end to that problem, but guess what? My salvation didn’t give me immunity to problems: rather, it made my faith in Him stronger.

Now, I am confident that He is in every situation with me, as He was in the boat with the disciples when they were in the midst of a great storm.

Dear child, trials and tribulations are part of our journey, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will overcome the all and reign with Christ in eternity.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS 23 JULY 2023 HYMN

HYMN 18 – WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1. When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey

4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows
And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

RCCG YAYA SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT’S MANUAL 23 JULY 2023

LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: BEWARE OF DECEIT

BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 13:6-10

[6]Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus,

[7]who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.

[8]But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.

[9]Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him

[10]and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

MEMORY VERSE: “Who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;” 1Peter 2:22 (NKJV).

INTRODUCTION: The word deceit is a Greek word ‘Dolos’ derived from ‘Dello’ meaning to bait; this literally refers to a fishhook, trap, or trick which are various forms of deception. Deceit is a deliberate attempt to mislead, trick, snare, or bait other people, by telling lies. Baiting the trap is an attempt to catch the unwary victim. It is a desire to gain an advantage or preserve a position by deceiving others; the intentional misleading or beguiling of another. In the Scriptures, it is categorised with other forms of wickedness, such as cursing (Ps.10:7), hatred (Prov.26:24), theft, covetousness, adultery, and murder (Mk.7:21-22; Rom.1:29).

OUTLINES:
1. ATTRIBUTES OF DECEIVERS
2. BELIEVERS’ DISPOSITION TO DECEIT

1. ATTRIBUTES OF DECEIVERS
Deceit describes the quality of the man who has a tortuous and a twisted mind; one who cannot act in a straightforward way; someone who stoops to devious and underhand methods to get his own way; a person who never does anything except with some kind of ulterior motives. Deceit is an attempt to trap or to trick and thus involves treachery. Deceit is a lie (Ps.119:118).
The Bible clearly states that:
1. Some workers are deceitful (2Cor.11:13; Jer.14:14; 23:26).

2. Hypocrites and false witnesses devise deceit (Job 15:34-35; Prov.12:17).

3. The wicked are full of deceit (Rom.1:29). They devise it (Ps.35:20; Prov.12:5); utter it (Ps.10:7; 36:3); work it (Prov.11:18); increase in it (2Tim.3:13); use it to each other (Jer. 9:5); delight in it (Prov. 20:17).

4. Deceit is a characteristic of the antichrist (2Jn.7).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Have you once met a deceitful person? Describe their personality.

2. BELIEVERS’ DISPOSITION TO DECEIT
Deceit comes from the heart (Mk.7:21-22). It is one of the characteristics of an unregenerated heart (Jer.17:9). Deceit leads to lying (Prov.14:25); often accompanied by fraud and injustice (Ps.10:7; 43:1). Hatred is often concealed by deceit (Prov.26:24-26).
God abhors deceit (Ps.5:6). Our Lord Jesus Christ was also free from deceit (Isa. 53:9; 1 Pet.2:22) and believers must equally abhor it to enjoy abundant life in Christ (1 Pet.3:10; Ps.24:3-4). We must intentionally purpose against deceit and avoid it (Job 27:4; 31:5); pray for deliverance from those who are deceptive (Ps.43:1; 120:2; Ps.72:14); beware of those who teach it (Eph.5:6; Col.2:8); and lay aside every appearance of deceit (2 Col 4:2; 1 Thess.2:3).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: How can we protect ourselves from deceivers?

CONCLUSION: There is blessedness in being free from deceit (Ps.24:4-5; 32:2) and there is punishment for being deceitful (Ps.55:23; Jer.9:7-9).

QUESTIONS:
* What are the attributes of deceit and deceivers?
* What should be the believers’ disposition to deceit?

FURTHER READING: MON: Matt.26:4; TUE: 1Pet.3:10; WED: Rom.1:29; THUR: Mk.7:21; FRI: Acts 13:10; SAT: 2Cor.12:16; SUN: 1Thess.2:3.

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five things you will do to avoid being deceived by people (2×5=10 marks).

RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT’S MANUAL 23 JULY 2023

LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: BEWARE OF FALSE MINISTERS

SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN
1. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.

2. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.

3. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.

4. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee

5. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School.

6. O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

MEMORY VERSE: “But there were false
prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you,
who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them,
and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1.

BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 7:15-20

[15]Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

[16]Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

[17]Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

[18]A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

[19]Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

[20]Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: In the bid to make ends meet, falsehood is fast becoming the order of the day. Just as there are internet fraudsters i.e. scammers, quack practitioners. etc., there are Some ‘ministers’ whose god is their belly (Phil.3:18-19). Their coming victims of their antics.

OUTLINES:
1.DESCRIPTION OF FALSE MINISTERS
2. AVOID BEING A VICTIM

1. DESCRIPTION OF FALSE MINISTERS
On the surface, it is difficult to spot a false minister because even Satan masquerades as an angel of light and his ministers’ cover-up as servants of righteousness (2Cor.11:14-15). However, Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matt. 24:23-27).

Some of the ways by which the Bible describes false ministers can help true believers recognise them. False ministers deny the divinity, sacrifice and humanity of Christ (1Jn.4:1-3). Even when they minister or pray in ‘Jesus’ name,’ their hearts are far away from God (Matt.15:8).

Such ministers corrupt the gospel for selfish interest or to justify their immoral lifestyles (Phil.3:19; 2Cor.2:17, Mic.3:11). Some of these false ministers ‘called’ themselves into the ministry or sometimes derailed from God’s call to deceive gullible people (1Jn.2:19).

They do not preach the complete gospel (Bible doctrines) – Gal.1:6-9, 2Cor.11:4. They are not just false in their ministrations but also false in their living (Matt.7:15-20). Some replace the preaching of the gospel with motivational talks and philosophies of men (Col.2:8).

There are those who cause divisions among brethren (Rom.16:17-18) while others are out to exploit unsuspecting members (Acts 20:29-30). They trivialise the matters of eternity, preach what people want to hear and hardly preach holiness, Heaven, hell, etc. (Isa.30:9-11, 2 Tim.4:3-4). They usually perpetuate falsehood in the name of miracles (Matt.24:24).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The class should discuss how the church can halt or repel the activities of false ministers.

2. AVOID BEING A VICTIM
Many people walk into the web of false ministers due to:
1. Lack of knowledge (Isa.5:13, Hos.4:6).

2. Impatience (Ps.27:14, Heb.10:36).

3. Despair in the bid to get rich quick (1Tim.6:9-10)

4. Anxiety about what the future holds.

5. Quest to find answers to certain crucial life questions (1Kgs.22:6-8).
To avoid being a victim of false ministers, children of God should be watchful (Matt.26:41), prayerful (Jam.5:16b), sober (1 Pet.5:8), patient (Lk.21:19), rooted in the word of God (Col.3:16), filled with the Spirit of God (Rom.8:6) and be able to discern the spirits in operation at every instance (1Jn.4:1, Matt.24:4-5). Anyone that is already a victim should retrace their steps back to Christ and cry for help (Matt.11:28-30, Ps.46:1).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention what should be done not to become a victim.

CONCLUSION: The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false ministers is to know the truth (Jn.8:32). To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing.

QUESTIONS:
* How can false ministers be best described?
* Mention four (4) keys to entering falsehood.
