Faith is an act of believing in something or someone. In this case, it is believing in the reality of God as revealed in the Bible. When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Horeb, his faith in God was attached to the covenant God had made with him.

I am sure he was confident that the God who gave him Isaac at the age of 100 could give him another child, and even if He didn’t, He would still fulfil His promise. This confidence in God is called faith.

Being full of faith comes from believing in who God is and trusting in His words. If He says He would do something. believe it, even if it doesn’t make sense or completely contradicts what you see or know.

The Bible says in Numbers 23:19: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” The Holy Spirit wants to help build your faith, but you must yield completely to Him.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Divine choices can be defined as Godly choices. Choices taken by the leading of God’s spirit. Our Bible text talks of a widowed lady who got to know the God of her late husband and family and chose to follow her mother in the law and at the end it led to a victorious end.

Our choices should anchor on the Lord for direction. Today we should be looking at two outlines to help us in choices to be taken.
It should be noted that God has given each and every one of us the right to choose. It is important to know also that the choices we make determine our future. We all have to make choices at different stages of our life. We are always presented with different choices and to make these decisions without error, we need proper guidance which only God can provide. Proverbs 3:5-6

WHY DO WE NEED DIVINE GUIDANCE?
This is because as human being we are limited in knowledge. Deut. 29:29
A. We need it so as to fulfill our destiny. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11

ACTIVITY: Discuss David’s travails before he reclaimed in 1 Samuel 30.

SUMMARY: Your attainment in life is based on the choice that you make. Bad choice ruins one’s destiny. Remember Achan with the garment and gold from Jericho.

CONCLUSION: Like Ruth, we need to stand with that which the Holy Spirit inspires us to do so that God’s plan for our lives can be fulfilled to its fullness. We should always seek God for all of our plans and work with Him.

OPEN HEAVEN 23 JULY 2023 MESSAGE

God still speaks to this day, but unfortunately, many people do not hear Him because they are too busy with the affairs of life. The painful thing is that people do not know what they are missing by not listening to their Maker. In today’s text, we read about Abraham’s encounter with the Almighty God.

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee. (Genesis 12:1)

There are some lessons we can learn from this singular encounter that changed Abraham’s life. One, God discovered the love and sincerity of Abraham so He revealed Himself to him.

This love for God was demonstrated in his positive and prompt response to God’s command to leave his father’s house. Another lesson is that the dialogue between God and Abraham did not contain commands alone; it was backed by eternal blessings.

The Bible says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Abraham became the father of faith because the word of God penetrated his heart.

In the Scripture from where we took the memory verse, we read of the encounter of Solomon with the Almighty God. During that divine encounter, God gave Solomon a blank cheque and this is a typical privilege enjoyed by those who have such dialogues with God.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. (1 Kings 3:5)

To be genuine children of God, we must surrender completely to all His commandments.
This is where many people often miss it – they are not ready to obey God fully.

They want freedom from His commandments; they want to take over the affairs of this life without any recourse to God Almighty.

I encourage you to give your life to Jesus Christ today. Seek His face without ceasing – not just what He has to give and you will receive great revelations from Him that will transform your life for good.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

OPEN HEAVEN 22 JULY 2023 MESSAGE

Verse 8 of our text which is our memory verse, says: “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” (1 John 4:8). This Scripture implies that not all people we find in Church know God or can be trusted. The early Church leaders did not take the issue of love lightly because they knew godliness is tested by the amount of love a believer possesses.

Paul the Apostle prayed thus: And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. I Thessalonians 3:12-13

It takes love to be godly because God is love. This love made Him give up His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for us so that we would not perish (John 3:16 and 1 John 4:9).

This is the standard that the Almighty God has set for those who claim to be His children. Love makes people go the extra mile in helping others. Jesus commended the good Samaritan in Luke 10:33-37 because the proof of God in us is doing good.

Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated this as recorded in Acts 10:38:How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

James the Apostle describe love in practical terms when he wrote: “Yea, a man may say Thou hast faith, and l have works: sheweth me thy faith without thy works, and l will show thee my faith by my works” (James 2:18). The proof of godliness is service to humanity, according to 2 Timothy 2:21.

John 15:9 also says: As the Father hath loved me, so have l loved you: continue in my love. It is a divine commandment for all children of God to continue in His love. Are you living in the love of Christ?

Let’s Declare in Jesus’ name!

I decree and declare that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, designed by God for greatness and excellence in all areas of my life, in the mighty name of Jesus. (Psalm 139:14)

I decree and declare that as I commit my plans to the Lord, He will establish my steps and make me the best version of myself, in the mighty name of Jesus. (Proverbs 16:3)

I decree and declare that the wisdom of God guides my decisions and actions, leading me to achieve excellence and distinction in everything I do, in the mighty name of Jesus. (James 1:5)

I decree and declare that I am a vessel of honor, sanctified and fit for the Master’s use, prepared for every good work and to be the best in my calling, in the mighty name of Jesus. (2 Timothy 2:21)
