OPEN HEAVEN 23 MARCH 2023 MESSAGE

Having discussed the word of God in the last few days, I must say that there are many who don’t have ears to hear. Revelations 2:7 says, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…”

There is danger in not hearing the word of God because Isaiah 6:8-10 says if you can hear, then you will repent and be healed. That is why the devil puts in all efforts to steal the word of God from our hearts as we see in our Bible reading for today.

I am certain that the day you gave your life to Christ, you were not the only one who heard that message. Others heard it and many of them did not surrender their lives to Christ. This is because though they had ears physically, the devil had blocked their spiritual ears.

Furthermore, there are a lot of Christians who have been going to Church for many years; the Pastor preaches powerful sermons, but it has had no effect on their lives because the devil has simply blocked their ears in order to keep them in bondage. I pray your spiritual ears will never be blocked, in Jesus’ name.

There are also people who practice selective hearing of the word of God. In their case, the devil doesn’t have to bother himself, they block their own ears themselves (Jeremiah 17:23). They don’t want to hear that passage of the Bible that will condemn what they are doing wrong. When such people hear me say, “God said we should be holy for He is holy” they say, “Doesn’t he have anything else to say”?

Psalm 95:6-8 made it clear that if you want to hear God’s voice, “Harden not your heart”. Some of us have hardened our hearts; we don’t want to hear anymore. Remember the rich man’s plea in Luke 16:19-31 when he told Abraham to send Lazarus to preach to his brothers. Abraham told him that his brothers had prophets speaking to them on earth; if they didn’t listen to them, they wouldn’t hear anyone else. They were destined for destruction.

You have genuine men and women of God teaching you the true word now – this devotional is a testament to that. Listen now so that you will not regret it for eternity.

A testimonial is an official statement that describes an individual’s abilities, qualities and character. This could be written by someone’s former employer or head of the academic institution where the individual was a student. Sometimes, this could be used to get a job. Just as men assess fellow men and issue out a report of their assessment. so also does God.

Many years ago, I stumbled on the testimonial that was issued to me from Ilesha Grammar School in 1960 while searching for the documents I needed to apply for a visa. In it, my principal wrote that I was ‘cool, calm and collected.’ That appeared to be more of a prophecy because to the best of my knowledge, I was nowhere near that.

As a child of God, the people you relate with and God in Heaven must be able to testify that you’re a child of God indeed. If they have a different testimony, something is wrong. However, you can correct that by giving your life to Jesus today and allowing Him to work on you like He did on me.

Father, as I speak and hear Your Word, let it achieve its purpose in my life in Jesus’ name.

Doubting is a normal part of human life.

Even the most serious or mature believers may have moments where they struggle with doubt.

John the Baptist who knew Jesus Christ as God once began to have doubts about Jesus when he was put in prison (Luke 3:19-20).

The situations surrounding John made him begin to doubt Jesus just as many believers still do today.

In moments when life causes you to doubt, here are five important things to remember:

1. Doubting Does Not Automatically Make You An Unbeliever

Doubt is different from unbelief.

While unbelief is an outright refusal to believe, obey and trust Jesus, doubt is many times unintentional and is a feeling of uncertainty, seeking answers especially due to prevailing circumstances.

Doubt can grow into unbelief and eventually make you an unbeliever if you keep it within, let it grow, and consume you.

The best way to deal with doubt is to voice it out and let it be handled through counsel and prayer.
When doubt is handled well, it makes you grow.

Even John the Baptist began to have doubts (Matt 11:1-3)

There are two possible explanations for these doubts. Either John was struggling with the suffering that he was enduring and couldn’t square it with the prophecies of the Messiah that he read about in the Old Testament prophets, or John was doubting the identity of Jesus because he wasn’t fulfilling John’s Old Testament expectation that the Messiah would come bringing salvation and judgment.

2. Your Situation Is Temporary. God is Eternal

Many times, doubts rise due to the presence or knowledge of a sad reality.

John the Baptist knew that Jesus would come and had heard the prophecies from the prophet Isaiah that said when the Messiah came, he would come “to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isa. 61:1).

Yet John found himself and prison while Jesus was around and that could have contributed to him doubting Jesus.

Sometimes, it is common for believers to doubt Jesus and His promises on account of their current unpleasant realities.

When this happens, remember that your situation is only temporary.

3. You Can Ask God to Help You

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”‭‭Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Lord, help my unbelief” This cry by a father was answered by Jesus and is proof that Jesus can help you with doubt and even unbelief.

“And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

John also asked Jesus questions in his time of unbelief.

4. God’s Promises To You

Just like John the Baptist remembered God’s promises in Scripture, we must do the same in times of doubt.

When the things we see physically do not match up to the promises of God to us, we must return to those promises, hold on to them dearly, pray, and trust God regardless.

5. Jesus Loves You

You must always remember even in moments of doubt that you are greatly loved by Jesus and nothing will change that.

Hold on to His promises for you and He will show up in your life.

Every believer in Christ is empowered over satanic forces. When Adam fell in the Garden of Eden, he lost his dominion to the devil but through Jesus’ victory on the cross of Calvary, every child of God was restored to dominion, which means you are expected to go through life’s battles as a conqueror and not a victim.

God expects you to exercise His power in your life over sin, satan and his cohorts, situations, and challenges that confront you since the Godhead lives in you. One way to exercise dominion is on your knees. This is where power will be released to you to frustrate your enemies. If you can kneel before God, you will stand tall among men.

You cannot effect change when you are always in a hurry to leave God’s presence, so spend quality time praying and live a life of purity. Some people claim to pray a lot, yet they live a sinful lifestyle. You cannot dominate by just praying, you also have to live a holy life.

OPEN HEAVEN 21 MARCH 2023 MESSAGE

The Word is almighty. He created all things and indeed, He is God Himself (John 1:1-3). The Word is so powerful that He creates new beginnings. In Exodus 3:1-5, when God spoke to Moses at the backside of the desert, he had a new beginning. Though he had become a fugitive and it seemed he had missed it in life, Moses got a chance for a new beginning the moment he started hearing from God.

In John 11:39-44, when Jesus Christ was going to bring Lazarus back from the dead, He didn’t lay hands on him; He only spoke and a new beginning came for someone who had been dead for 4 days. I speak the word of God into your life now: receive a new beginning, in Jesus’ name.

The Word of God is not only all-powerful but also sharp – sharp enough to separate the joint from the marrow and even dividing the soul and spirit (Hebrews 4:12). When you see a hardened criminal crying in front of the altar to give his life to Christ, that is an example of what the Word of God can do.

It can pierce into the hardest of souls. That is why it is futile trying to change your stubborn relatives using your own words. Preach the word of God to them; pray that the Word pierces through their souls to convict them of their sins.

Someone once said that they were wondering how come we usually have such large crowds at our crusades. They wondered especially because my sermons at such crusades were usually simple and the general theme was always: “Be holy”, yet large crowds attend over and over again and thousands give their lives to Christ every time I make an altar call. 

I told them it is because beautiful sermons with analysis of the Bible using Greek and Hebrew languages do not convict sinners. Deep thoughts and philosophies can’t convert anyone without the power of the Holy Spirit. Simple and straightforward as the word of God is, it has tremendous power to convert sinners to saints.

If you are a preacher of the gospel, please don’t try to impress the people with how much Greek and Hebrew you Know. Just preach the word and trust that the Holy Spirit will accomplish all that the Lord pleases (Isaiah 55:11).
